nesthesia Business Consultants, LLC (ABC) is the largest billing and practice management company dedicated to the complex and intricate specialty of anesthesia and pain management. It is both an Anesthesia Quality Institute Preferred Vendor and a Gold Affiliate with the Medical Group Management Association. Tony Mira, ABC’s founder, president and CEO, has maintained a concentration on providing services exclusively to anesthesia and pain management professionals since the company’s inception more than 35 years ago. ABC distinguishes itself by providing optimal business tools to strengthen business processes and enhance cash flow—all while keeping pace with constant changes in the health care environment. ABC prides itself on the longevity of its client relationships and its ability to customize services to the unique requirements of each practice. ABC offers its clients innovative billing and reimbursement services, as well as valuable practice management tools and solutions that allow them to realize their own particular strategic visions and business plans.
The ABC Management Advantage ABC distinguishes itself through its focus, operational approach and management structure: • Unlike many competitors who continually redefine their market focus, ABC has remained true to its core market of anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and pain management specialists, enhancing the credibility of its insight and advice. • ABC believes its relationship with its clients is a true partnership—a partnership in which ABC not only helps improve the billing process, but also helps the group operate more efficiently in the operating room, and more proactively in its relationship with the hospital. • ABC’s centralized approach allows effective management and oversight, ensuring consistent results. • Managing a business based on the input and expectations of shareholders does not always result in the most appropriate business decision-making. Because ABC is privately held, it has much greater flexibility in setting its agenda, managing the business and being responsive to its clients’ needs.
The ABC Service Advantage ABC offers a full range of services designed to meet its clients’ needs, from a specific area of service to an allencompassing solution partner.

EAGLE G PHARMACEUTICALS C U C S
E
agle is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing injectable therapeutics, primarily in the areas of critical care, orphan diseases and oncology. Our goal is to improve the lives of customers and patients with optimized formulations through the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway. We develop proprietary enhancements to FDA-approved drugs while adhering to the principles of innovation, quality, integrity and leadership.
Making Improvements for Patients and Health Care Professionals We recognize that many injectable products used in acute care settings have suboptimal characteristics. These products may not fully meet the needs of patients and health care professionals. That’s why we work diligently to create enhanced formulations that address these issues. For instance, some drug formulations have inherent inefficiencies when it comes to preparation. These can include requiring multistep preparation (labor- and time-intensive), the need for a large volume of diluent and the use of numerous vials in an emergency situation.
time-consuming to reconstitute and administer.3,4 Usually several members of the operating room staff are employed in the reconstitution process.2 That’s because a full initial dose for a 100-kg patient may require the reconstitution of 12 or more vials of the conventional dantrolene sodium product.3,4 This can pose a serious problem as the risk for complications increases by over 30% for every 20-minute delay in treatment.5 That’s where RYANODEX® is different: It is formulated to be fast to reconstitute and administer a loading dose.2 RYANODEX® is unlike conventional dantrolene sodium products; one vial provides a full loading dose (2.5 mg/kg) for most patients.1,6 It can be reconstituted and administered by just one health care professional in less than one minute.1,2 This creates the potential to reduce complications resulting from treatment delays.1,2,5,7
Indication RYANODEX® is indicated for the treatment of malignant hyperthermia in conjunction with appropriate supportive measures and for prevention of malignant hyperthermia in patients at high risk.
Our Products
Important Safety Information
At Eagle, we believe that our products have the potential to create a new standard for treatment. Our optimized reformulations of injectable drugs aim to: • Enable faster reconstitution and administration in most cases • Reduce the fluid volume infused into patients, which may reduce the potential for complications relating to fluid-volume overload • Reduce drug infusion time • Optimize dose regimen
RYANODEX® (dantrolene sodium) for injectable suspension is not a substitute for appropriate supportive measures in the treatment of malignant hyperthermia, including: • Discontinuing triggering anesthetic agents • Increasing oxygen • Managing metabolic acidosis • Instituting cooling when necessary • Administering diuretics to prevent late kidney injury due to myoglobinuria (the amount of mannitol in RYANODEX® is insufficient to maintain diuresis) Precautions should be taken when administering RYANODEX® preoperatively for the prevention of malignant hyperthermia, including monitoring vital signs, avoiding known triggering agents, and monitoring for early clinical and metabolic signs of malignant hyperthermia that may indicate additional treatment is needed. The administration of dantrolene sodium is associated with loss of grip strength and weakness in the legs,
Improving Malignant Hyperthermia Treatment A prime example of how Eagle has improved an area of treatment is RYANODEX® (dantrolene sodium) for injectable suspension. Our novel formulation of dantrolene sodium is indicated for the treatment of malignant hyperthermia in conjunction with appropriate supportive measures.1,2 A major issue with conventional dantrolene sodium products is that they are often

dwards Lifesciences’ advanced hemodynamic monitoring and management systems enable individualized hemodynamic optimization. The systems provide clarity into patient status, helping clinicians to make more informed volume management decisions in their moderate- to high-risk surgery patients. Edwards’ extensive line of hemodynamic management sensors, catheters and monitoring tools enable clinicians’ to make proactive clinical decisions in the operating room (OR) and ICU. Hemodynamic instability may increase with more complicated or invasive procedures and with the presence of various comorbidities. As a result, clinicians’ hemodynamic monitoring needs and preferences may vary with the complexity of each procedure and patient. Edwards provides a range of monitoring options that can be used in perioperative goal-directed therapy (PGDT) protocols to maintain patients in the optimal volume range during moderate- to high-risk surgery. Further, the Edwards Enhanced Surgical Recovery Program can help implement hemodynamic optimization through PGDT in moderate- to high-risk surgery procedures. The noninvasive ClearSight system extends the clarity of continuous hemodynamic monitoring to moderateand high-risk surgery patients including elderly or obese patients in whom an arterial catheter would not typically be placed—enabling you to make more informed decisions about volume administration in your patients. Parameters monitored include: Stroke Volume (SV), Stroke Volume Variation (SVV), Cardiac Output (CO), Continuous Blood Pressure (cBP). The minimally invasive FloTrac sensor connects to an existing arterial line to continuously provide dynamic,
flow-based parameters that can be used in PGDT protocols. It is a practical solution for making informed volume management decisions in your moderate- and high-risk surgery patients. The FloTrac sensor has been chosen by clinicians more than any other minimally invasive volume management solution to monitor over 2.5 million patients worldwide.* The PreSep oximetry catheter continuously measures a patient’s central venous oxygen saturation, providing an earlier and more global view of tissue oxygenation and consumption. The Swan-Ganz pulmonary artery catheter with advanced monitoring capability provides a single, integrated hemodynamic profile for the most complex patients. The Edwards Swan-Ganz catheter remains the leading pulmonary artery catheter for surgical, critical care and trauma patients worldwide.* The EV1000 clinical platform presents the physiologic and hemodynamic status of the patient in an intuitive and meaningful way. Designed to work with the ClearSight finger cuff, FloTrac sensor and PreSep oximetry catheter, the platform offers the scalability and adaptability for both the OR and ICU. Edwards VAMP (Venous Arterial blood Management Protection) closed-loop blood sampling system is a needleless, closed blood sampling system designed to reduce infection,1,2 needle sticks3 and blood waste4,5 associated with conventional blood sampling methods. The TruWave pressure transducer can be paired with the VAMP system for combined accuracy and reliability with the safety of a single, seamless foundational monitoring solution. M
AQUET Medical Systems USA is a market-leading medical device company whose mission is to help improve patient outcomes and quality of life through advanced technology. MAQUET offers comprehensive products and therapeutic solutions for the hybrid operating room (OR), ICU and general OR, as well as for patient transport. MAQUET has a long history of innovation in anesthesia, beginning with the introduction of its first anesthesia machine in 1981. Since then, the company has delivered almost 11,000 units to hospitals worldwide. It also has set market standards with its high-performance SERVO ventilation platform for more than 40 years. The company has a deep understanding of mechanical ventilation and the challenges facing anesthesiologists today. Not only are patient demographics constantly shifting, but surgical procedures are becoming more complex on a daily basis, necessitating advanced technology to ensure optimal patient care. MAQUET invests significantly in research and development to meet the changing needs of hospitals and anesthesiologists, and to ensure that it can provide anesthesia products that offer high-performance ventilation and support capabilities. MAQUET’s flagship anesthesia product, the FLOW-i Anesthesia System® with high-performance SERVO ventilation, offers true ICU ventilator performance and effective anesthesia delivery from the same unit.
AT A GLANCE High-Performance Ventilation Features • Set tidal volume is accurately delivered even under high abdominal and thoracic pressures, helping to avoid hypoventilation. • Fast rise time and high flow rates adapt to varying inspiratory demand in the presence of increasing airway pressure. • Sensitive triggering improves synchrony in pediatric patients and those with decreased respiratory drive. • Consistent and accurate positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) levels are maintained. • Controlled pressure drop during expiration decreases expiratory resistance and work of breathing, in addition to minimizing auto-PEEP at higher respiratory rates.
Advanced Design and Technology The FLOW-i system’s ergonomically designed, fully electronic platform and touchscreen interface are easy to use and upgrade for enhanced workflow today and in the future. The open architecture allows hospitals to add the patient monitor and data management system of their choice and easily integrate future software and hardware advances into the system—increasing cost efficiency by avoiding the need for costly equipment replacement or upgrades. FLOW-i Anesthesia System With High-Performance SERVO Ventilation MAQUET’s FLOW-i Anesthesia System seamlessly combines high-performance SERVO ventilation with precise anesthesia delivery to help meet the needs of all patients. These include the most challenging cases, such as obese patients with high abdominal and thoracic pressures, older patients suffering from multiple medical conditions, the critically ill and the smallest neonates. FLOW-i reacts quickly to changing parameters, as the low internal system volume enables rapid changes in gas concentration when needed, and facilitates fast wash-in and wash-out of the anesthetic agent. This process helps to minimize waste and unnecessary use of the agent through precise delivery technology.
Innovative Volume Reflector™ Re-Breathing Technology The FLOW-i system features the innovative Volume Reflector technology to ensure that the breathing circuit will never be empty and that ventilation will remain uninterrupted regardless of surgical constraints, changing conditions or patient position. The re-breathing technology consists of a rigid reservoir to increase the re-breathing as well as maintain high ventilation performance. It replaces both the traditional bellows and the piston technologies in older systems. Oxygen-driven by design, the Volume Reflector helps to minimize the risk for delivering a potentially dangerous hypoxic mixture in the presence of leaks during low-flow anesthesia. With the new O2Guard, an automatic increase of oxygen will occur if the system detects too-low oxygen at the Y-piece. FLOW-i anesthetic agent injection vaporizers are fully electronic, lightweight and can be refilled while slotted in the machine, even when still in use. The agent delivery is mainly on inspiration, leading to less use of anesthetic agents.

The new Passport line offers a broad range of patient monitoring capabilities in a robust, modular design. The Passport 17M’s large 17-inch touchscreen display is most appealing in the operating room, where visibility and convenience are essential. The Passport 12M’s flexibility and modularity combine with a 12-inch touchscreen display to offer a complementary solution for postoperative areas. Supporting up to eight invasive pressures and features such as auto-ID of anesthetic agents and gases, and BIS monitoring, the Passport 12M and 17M represent a powerful combination of advanced functionality and extraordinary value. The newly introduced T1 is a module and monitor all in one. Used as a multi-parameter module in the Passport 12M and 17M monitors, the T1 provides 3/5/12 lead ECG, 2 IBP, SpO2, temperature and NIBP, satisfying
many monitoring requirements in the OR environment. For use as a transport monitor, simply remove the T1 from the Passport monitor and go. The versatile 2-lb package, with its brilliant 5-inch touchscreen display, allows continuous monitoring from procedure to recovery.
Ultrasound Imaging Mindray continues to provide innovative solutions for point-of-care environments with the introduction of the TE7 Touch Enabled Ultrasound System. The new intuitive touchscreen-based system, with superior imaging, supports rapid and confident diagnosis in the OR and at the bedside. Intuitive gesture controls and focused anesthesia exams minimize the user learning curve, with no need to navigate a knob-cluttered keyboard. Simply select an exam preset and the relevant functions become accessible. With its advanced touchscreen interface and expanded features, including iNeedle™ visualization and dedicated nerve exam presets, the TE7 is an ideal system for nerve block and pain management. With the addition of cardiac functionality and the TEE transducer, the TE7 also meets the demands of the CVOR environment.

PACIRA C PHARMACEUTICALS, C U C S, INC. C
P
acira Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is an emerging specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the clinical and commercial development of new products to address the needs of acute care practitioners and their patients. Pacira is driven by a dynamic workforce committed to optimizing patient care and satisfaction in the acute care setting, with a special focus on improving outcomes in postsurgical pain management.
A Proprietary Drug Delivery Platform The cornerstone of the Pacira product portfolio is DepoFoam®, a proprietary drug delivery platform designed to extend a medication’s duration of action without altering its molecular structure. The DepoFoam carrier matrix is made up of multivesicular liposomes that encapsulate a drug. Each chamber is separated by lipid membranes that naturally erode to release the drug over a desired period of time.
use, the burden of opioids has reached epidemic proportions.2,3 The use of opioids for postsurgical pain has opened the floodgates, adding a cascade of new users to the 5.1 million Americans who already abuse prescription painkillers every day.4 Pacira is committed to working to address this growing societal burden by providing clinicians with a nonopioid option to control pain and reduce opioid requirements in the immediate postsurgical setting, when effective, consistent analgesia is most critical. The company’s efforts are buoyed by a groundswell movement led by government and independent health care organizations that are recommending a shift to opioid-sparing pain management regimens in order to mitigate patient exposure to unwanted and potentially severe side effects, including abuse, addiction and overdose.
Discovery, innovation and proprietary expertise are the hallmarks of the Pacira competitive advantage. The company not only holds the exclusive rights to and expertise in DepoFoam, but owns the unique distinction of being the only company in the world with the ability to manufacture DepoFoam-based products, such as EXPAREL, on a large commercial scale. With steadily increasing demand and a growing list of potential clinical applications, Pacira and EXPAREL are poised to become vital fixtures in the postsurgical pain management arena. For more information about Pacira Pharmaceuticals Inc., visit www.pacira.com.
A First of Its Kind, Single-Dose Local Analgesic
Important Safety Information For EXPAREL
In 2012, Pacira successfully launched EXPAREL® (bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension)*, the first and only DepoFoam-based local analgesic. Indicated for single-dose administration into the surgical site to produce postsurgical analgesia, EXPAREL provides longlasting pain control that reduces opioid requirements without the need for catheters or pumps.
EXPAREL is contraindicated in obstetrical paracervical block anesthesia. EXPAREL has not been studied for use in patients younger than 18 years of age. Non–bupivacaine-based local anesthetics, including lidocaine, may cause an immediate release of bupivacaine from EXPAREL if administered together locally. The administration of EXPAREL may follow the administration of lidocaine after a delay

of 20 minutes or more. Other formulations of bupivacaine should not be administered within 96 hours after administration of EXPAREL. Monitoring of cardiovascular and neurologic status as well as vital signs should be performed during and after injection of EXPAREL, as with other local anesthetic products. Because amide-type local anesthetics, such as bupivacaine, are metabolized by the liver, EXPAREL should be used cautiously in patients with hepatic disease. Patients with severe hepatic disease, because of their inability to metabolize local anesthetics normally, are at a greater risk for developing toxic plasma concentrations. In clinical trials, the most common adverse reactions (incidence ≥10%) following EXPAREL administration were nausea, constipation and vomiting. In the hemorrhoidectomy study, there was a cumulative decrease in opioid consumption over the 72-hour study period, the clinical benefit of which was not demonstrated.

COST OF OWNERSHIP It is not just the purchase price. THE PURCHASE PRICE IS ONE THING. The cost of maintaining a machine is another, and often, a variable not discussed upfront. When you buy an ARKON, this won’t be a surprise. The cost of ownership over 10 years is $1300 or less per machine! Serviceability was considered as part of the design process of the ARKON and it shows. t Single annual maintenance; minimal service time. t Improved reliability. t Simple setup. t Low cost maintenance. t 24/7 Technical Support. Post-Op Pain Management Solutions For most patients, postoperative pain is their primary concern before surgery, and nearly 80% of patients who experience postoperative pain report experiencing moderate to extreme pain.1 This is why every day we challenge the status quo by offering practical pain management solutions to deliver positive outcomes for the patient and provider. Continuous peripheral nerve blocks have been proven to offer superior postoperative analgesia and improve patient satisfaction compared with opioids, while resulting in fewer minor complications, including nausea/vomiting, pruritus and sedation.2 The Arrow® FlexBlock® Echogenic Continuous Peripheral Nerve Block (CPNB) Catheter and the Arrow® AutoFuser® Disposable Pain Pump from Teleflex allow clinicians to combine efficient and accurate catheter placement with a reliable, unimpeded infusion of medication. The Arrow® FlexBlock® CPNB Catheter is an echogenic, flexible, kink-resistant catheter designed to help clinicians better control patient pain and improve overall block success. The Arrow® AutoFuser® Disposable Pain Pump offers the right pain pump to meet a variety of clinical demands, allowing clinicians to provide individualized patient pain control and adjust therapy as needed.
Enabling Greater Access to Video Laryngoscopy The Rusch® Airtraq™ Avant™ Video Laryngoscope System provides users with an affordable video solution when and where it is needed. The system allows clinicians to project what they are seeing during intubation on a number of different platforms through a WiFi connection. This allows the clinician to share his or her view with others, and increases visibility while intubating. The convenience of the Rusch® Airtraq™ Avant™ Video Laryngoscope System is that it requires little in the way of capital expenditures and allows clinicians to reuse the optics. The image can be projected up to 50 times before replacement. The Airtraq™ Avant™ Blades, which are available in two sizes, are fully disposable to reduce the risk for crosscontamination, enhancing patient safety.
Reducing Cross-Contamination, Reducing Cost The risk for cross-contamination during intubation of the trachea exists because no perfect procedure for decontamination exists.3 Single-use devices offer the opportunity to reduce potential for infection associated with reusable devices. Green Rusch Lite™ and Rusch® EquipLite® Disposable Metal Laryngoscope Blades are single-use blades that offer users the performance and feel of a reusable metal blade. These blades eliminate the hassles associated with reusable blades, such as the time and cost of

Reducing Waste Anesthetic Gas (WAG) Exposure in the PACU An invisible risk exists in the postanesthesia care unit (PACU). Patients may exhale waste anesthetic gas (WAG) into the breathing zone of attending nurses.4 Although WAG cannot be detected by sight or odor, PACU clinicians can take action to protect themselves from the potential health effects. The first of its kind on the market, the ISOGard® Mask with ClearAir™ Technology from Teleflex was developed in partnership with clinicians who identified the issue and wanted to take action. As the only solution currently available for source control of WAG in the PACU, the ISO-Gard® Mask scavenging system simultaneously delivers oxygen to patients and scavenges their exhalation to help limit exposure faced by clinicians and minimize the cumulative effect of low-level exposure to WAG.
