Eric Jaramishian Staff writer El Dorado County has ended negotiations to utilize 1940 Broadway (Mother Lode Hotel) and 1970 Broadway (Gold Trail Motor Lodge) in Placerville as a homeless shelter. The Broadway addresses were among the sites the Board of Supervisors directed staff to look into. Another location is at county-owned property on Perks Court off Missouri Flat Road adjacent to Highway 50, just outside Placerville city limits. The county will now direct all attention to implementing a shelter at Perk’s Court, said Laura Schwartz with the Chief Administrative Office. The Board of Supervisors will hear an additional report on the Perk’s Court site in July, which is currently in the pre-construction phase, confirmed Communications Director Carla Hass. County staff was directed by the Board of Supervisors in April to begin negotiations with the Broadway property owners to start a potential lease for purposes of a short-term, non-congregate homeless shelter. The property owners and the county were not able to reach an agreement on terms and staff recommended shelving the conversation June 28 at the Board of Supervisors’ regular Tuesday meeting.

Tahoe Daily Tribune El Dorado County sheriff ’s officials last week said they were informed of an “unauthorized release of information” by the California Department of Justice containing personally identifiable information of the state’s concealed carry weapon holders, as well as possible firearms dealer record of sale information and other database information related to firearms ownership. The release was in conjunction with the DOJ’s launch of its 2022 Firearms Dashboard Portal. The information released included but was not limited to, names, ages, date of birth and addresses of individuals who hold CCWs in California. After learning of the breach, sheriff ’s offices across the state immediately began a dialogue with DOJ, states a news release. DOJ advised it had pulled the dashboard and all related links down. DOJ officials informed the sheriff ’s office they are working with urgency to determine the scope and breadth of the information released, states Sgt. Eric n
