READY TO RIDE Bikes OK’d for trail near lake Sel Richard Staff writer Bicyclists will soon legally enjoy an additional slice of Folsom Lake due to the recent approval of the Browns Ravine Trail Change-in-Use project by Gold Fields District Superintendent Barry Smith. While bikers have ridden the stretch for years, formal requests were made to officially add bike use to this 11-mile segment along the South Fork arm of Folsom Lake in 2014. Members included Senior Park and Recreation Specialist Jim Michaels, Park and Recreation Specialist Greg Wells, Environmental Scientist Cara Allen, Associate State Archeologist Steve Hilton and State Park Ranger Mike Green. The El Dorado Hills Community Services District recently held the grand opening of the Saratoga Trailhead for public use. The new trailhead located at Saratoga Estates Drive and Saratoga Way includes a small parking lot, shade structure with tables, and bike fix-it station. The trail can be used for hiking or biking and extends from Saratoga Way to Alexandra Drive. The Trojan Mountain Bike Team helped “cut” the ribbon for this new trail.
