By The People has helped thou sands navigate the complex legal world where paperwork is a necessity but maybe the pocketbook is a little thin.

There are a number of service pro viders online that assist consumers in processing legal documents like wills, powers of attorney, health care direc tives, deeds, limited liability corpora tions and incorporation articles on their own.

However, many of these docu ments can still be perplexing for people with minimal experience or legal background to process on their own – even with guidance.

By The People can help with ques tions, processing and making sure things go as smoothly as possible.

Tammy and Rene Bojorquez, owners of By The People, began their company as a franchise of We the People more nearly 20 years ago.

A lawyer’s job is to represent a cli ent’s interests where those interests come into conflict with another entity. But sometimes there is no conflict. People divorce amicably, for example. In these uncontested circumstances, there’s no real need for a lawyer. There is, however, still a need to file the nec essary paperwork to complete these agreements, even if they are uncon tested.

That’s where By The People comes in.

Some people simply can’t afford a lawyer – whether a situation is con tested or not – and for others, it doesn’t make sense to pay a lawyer’s fees for something relatively straightforward.

“Our fees are usually far less than an attorneys, and we utilize the same programs that attorneys use to create documents,” Tammy Bojorquez said. “So, if you do not need advice, and no one is fighting, we can be a less expen sive alternative.”

“Our goal is to help you help your self,” Tammy Bojorquez said. “We try to make sure you have the informa tion you need to make a decision that is best for you. Even in a divorce, as long as people can come to an agree ment, we can help with all of the paperwork, so they won’t even step foot in the courthouse.”

Resolving legal issues without going to the courtroom is something most people would love to accom plish, and By The People can help make that happen.

New coffee bar brings new tastes to downtown Fairfield

The Coffee Bar Fairfield has just celebrated its one-year anniversary and its owner is looking to the future.

“It was one year ago in November, we opened our doors,” owner Tamara Salai tah said.

Salaitah comes from a family of coffee house owners who instilled in her a love of coffee and making customers happy.

“Ever since I was little kid it has been in my blood,” she said. “I just have continued with my own place making good drinks.”

Salaitah had some help from a relative to help her get the coffee shop up and running.

The Coffee Bar is a new cafe in downtown Fairfield.

“My cousin has been my silent partner helping me get on my feet and figure everything out,” she said.

The shop not only serves hot coffee, lattes and mochas, but also food.

“It’s mostly just quick grab and go,” she said.

The food is savory and sweet, like English muffins and bagels, which can have bacon, cream cheese, peanut butter, jam or lox added to them. Salai tah also serves up brownies, pastries and doughnuts.

“Our pastries are freshly baked in

San Fransisco and delivered each morning,” she said.

A special treat many don’t know about is the handmade syrups they create in-house. There are choices that may seem quirky and unusual, like lavender/vanilla, vanilla bean, cardamom, cinnamon/cayenne and ginger rosemary.

The drinks are also a specialty of tastes that include birthday cake lattes, pistachio lattes and a Mexican mocha, which has cinnamon and cayenne syrup in it.

The frappuccinos also have a few special flavors, like cookies and cream and chocolate toffee.

The Coffee Bar Fairfield has released an eggnog latte for Decem ber.

“Who doesn’t love eggnog?” Salai tah asked.

Salaitah has ideas for the future. They include branching out with coffee houses all over, each named for the city within which they are located.

“It is something I want to do maybe in a couple of years,” she said.

Programs of The Salvation Army aim to brighten people’s holidays

The holiday season is one of the areas where The Salvation Army Kroc Center shines in helping members of the com munities have a merry holiday.

The Red Kettle bell-ringers can be heard throughout Solano County at various stores. With the red kettles and jolly volunteers, it is a tradition that has become an institution.

The Very Cherry Red Kettle Drive is one of the biggest fundraisers for The Salvation Army, which assists needy families, the homeless, disaster victims and first responders in Solano County throughout the year.

They kicked off this year’s Red Kettle Drive on Nov. 9 at the Jelly Belly Candy Company’s visitor center.

Expect to see volunteers ringing bells and manning kettles at stores across the county.

The money that’s raised goes to help provide food, cover utilities and allows The Salvation Army to respond to natural disasters with food and even a shoulder to cry on when emer gencies happen throughout the year.

The Red Kettle Drive is not the only thing The Salvation Army is doing this holiday season. There is also the annual Angel Tree program, which helps make Christmas happen for thousands of children in need, from newborns to children up to 13 years old.

Angel Tree donors help put new clothes and toys under the tree for children who usually must go without Christmas gifts. The program allows anonymous donors to adopt these little “angels” in an expanding Christ mas tradition that makes the season more rewarding for the gift giver and happier for the receiver.

Found in local companies and cor porations, Angel Trees are decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child in need of presents. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags.

Kroc Center officials urge people to consider taking a few more angels off the tree this year or donating gifts in bulk.

The Salvation Army will have Angel Trees available in Sam’s Club in Vacaville; at the Walmart Supercent ers at 2701 N. Texas St. in Fairfield, 325 E. Dorset Drive in Dixon and 7011 Main St. in American Canyon;

and in the Kroc Center lobby.

There is also an Adopt-a-Family Program, in which families or busi nesses can assist a family in need this holiday season by “adopting” them.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center offers day programs throughout the year that range from spiritual to physi cal. Kroc worship each Sunday is an encouraging, uplifting and inspiring time of worship.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center is located at 586 E. Wigeon Way in Suisun City. Its hours are 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
