ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) —
The Department of the Air Force has issued guidance on removal of adverse actions and handling of Religious Accommodation Requests related to refusal of Covid-19 vaccinations effective Feb. 24.
The Air Force will remove adverse information from records of those currently serving service members who sought an exemption on religious, administrative or medical grounds and who received adverse actions solely due to their refusal to take the vaccine. Members will be notified by their command or the Air Force Personnel Center/Air Reserve Personnel Center.
Current service members do not need to initiate any actions for their records to be updated.
Adverse information actions include:
n Letters of admonishment,
counseling or reprimand, and records of individual counseling will be rescinded.
n Nonjudicial punishments issued solely for vaccine refusal will be set aside in their entirety.
n Referral performance reports issued solely for vaccine refusal after requesting an exemption will be removed from personnel records and replaced with a statement of non-rated time.
n Promotion records will be corrected by the Department of the Air Force, which will remove or redact all adverse actions related to vaccine refusal.
n Current involuntary discharge proceedings will be terminated.
Additionally, the department has canceled all outstanding Religious Accommodation Requests for Covid-19 vaccination exemption.
Members who submitted a Religious Accommodation Request for non-Covid-19 vaccination
exemptions may update and resubmit their request for other mandated vaccination exemptions. To expedite processing, members are asked to resubmit within 30 days.
The Air Force has until March 17 to update records and notify affected members.

Blanket changes to the Servicemember’ Group Life Insurance went into effect Wednesday, and airmen have until the end of March to adjust their insurance coverage even if they’ve previously declined or reduced coverage.
If no action is taken, airmen will remain enrolled in the SGLI maximum coverage policy of $500,000 and see a $30 monthly deduction on their leave and earnings statement beginning in April.
To reduce or completely decline coverage, current service members must log in to MilConnect and access the SGLI online enrollment system, known as SOES. Coverage elections may be made in April and beyond, but reimbursements will not be offered
on premiums already paid.
SGLI policies are available in $50,000 coverage increments up to the $500,000 cap. The lowest available premium is $4 per month, while the two new tiers are $27 per month for $450,000 of coverage and $30 per month for maximum coverage. In the event of a qualifying claim, the policy would pay out over the course of 36 months or as a single check.
Family Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance maximum coverage amounts are not affected by this change in law, nor are previous elections of spousal coverage. Dependent children are automatically covered by an active SGLI policy.
There are no required steps for airmen who wish to maintain the full $500,000 insurance coverage, but all service members are encouraged to log in to SOES and ensure their beneficiary
information is up to date.
The changes come as part of the Supporting Families of the Fallen Act, signed Oct. 17 by President Joe Biden. Prior to this new law, policy options for SGLI and Veterans Group Life Insurance were last updated in 2005. The increase is intended to mirror changes to the nationwide cost of living.

Like Sudoku, no single number can repeat in any row or column. But... rows and columns are divided by black squares into compartments. These need to be filled in with numbers that complete a ‘straight’. A straight is a set of numbers with no gaps but can be in any order, eg [4,2,3,5]. Clues in black cells remove that number as an option in that row and column, and are not part of any straight. Glance at the solution to see how ‘straights’ are formed.

The Washington Post
WASHINGTON — Democratic leaders are sending a letter to Fox News executives demanding the network stop spreading misinformation about the 2020 election and for its hosts to admit on air they were wrong to do so. The letter comes amid reports that Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch admitted in a deposition that some Fox hosts “were endorsing” election falsehoods and that he wished the network had pushed back harder on such conspiracy theories.
In a letter to the network’s executives Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) cited testimony from Murdoch that was made public this week as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the network.
“As noted in your deposition released yesterday, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and other Fox News personalities knowingly, repeatedly, and dangerously endorsed and promoted the ‘big lie’ that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election,” Schumer and Jeffries wrote. “Though you have acknowledged your regret in allowing this grave propaganda to take place, your network hosts continue to promote, spew, and perpetuate election conspiracy theories to this day.”
Schumer and Jeffries noted that Fox News leadership was aware of the dangers of broadcasting such claims – including Murdoch, who according to the deposition said former president Donald Trump’s election lies were “damaging” and “really crazy stuff.”
“Despite that shocking admission, Fox News hosts have continued to peddle election denialism to the American people,” the Democratic leaders wrote. “This sets a dangerous precedent that ignores basic journalistic factchecking principles and public accountability.”
The two also slammed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s decision to give Fox News host Tucker Carlson exclusive access to more than 40,000 hours of surveillance footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by a pro-Trump mob seeking to stop the certification of Joe Biden’s electoral college win. Carlson, who has downplayed the severity of the insurrection and claimed it was a “false flag” operation, suggested without evidence on his program Monday night that some of the footage “already in some ways . . . does contradict” what has been reported about the Jan. 6 insurrection.
The Washington Post was among about a dozen media outlets who demanded the same access to the surveillance footage, arguing through an attorney last month that “there is concern that an ideologically-based narrative of an already polarizing event will take hold in the public consciousness.” McCarthy has defended his decision to give Carlson exclusive access to the footage, calling the press “jealous.”
In their letter Wednesday, Schumer and Jeffries warned Fox News executives that spreading false propaganda about the so-called “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen could further embolden its believers and Trump’s supporters to engage in more political violence.
“Fox News executives and all

other hosts on your network have a clear choice,” Schumer and Jeffries wrote. “You can continue a pattern of lying to your viewers and risking democracy or move beyond this damaging chapter in your company’s history by siding with the truth and reporting the facts. We ask that you make sure Fox News ceases disseminating the ‘big lie’ and other election conspiracy theories on your network.”
In a statement provided on Monday in response to Dominion’s latest brief, a Fox News spokesperson said that the lawsuit “has always been more about what will generate headlines than what can withstand legal and factual scrutiny, as illustrated by them now being forced to slash their fanciful damages demand by more than half a billion dollars after their own expert debunked its implausible claims. Their summary judgment motion took an extreme, unsupported view of defamation law that would prevent journalists from basic reporting and their efforts to publicly smear Fox for covering and commenting on allegations by a sitting President of the United States should be recognized for what it is: a blatant violation of the First Amendment.”
In response to Murdoch’s newly public testimony, the White House emphasized that Biden had won, despite Fox News reportedly putting its thumb on the scale for Trump.
“Regardless of any new revelations of media bias and hypocrisy during the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden won the most votes of any candidate in American history because of his vision for the middle class, his message, and his record,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement Tuesday. “And anyone who is surprised by such revelations hasn’t been paying attention toor watching – Fox News lately.”
