Welcome to the 2015 Shepparton Show… a world record-breaking show! The 2015 Shepparton Agricultural Show will be held on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October and feature new attractions and activities for the whole family! Come down and help us set a Guinness World Record, experience the LegenDAIRY Milking Barn enjoy our regions finest Gourmet produce in the Food Pavilion and celebrate our agricultural industry at the 139th Shepparton Show!

Activities include: • Help us set a Guinness World Record Come on Shepparton, we want to set a record for the largest number of hand painted cows on display at the Shepparton Show! Pick up your Trail Bag and paint a cow at the Show and help us get Shepparton in the Guinness World Record Book! • Gourmet Food Pavilion Showcasing the amazing local produce and gourmet food producers around the region, the Gourmet Food Pavilion in the McIntosh Centre will feature live cooking demonstrations on the Cooking Stage, a Barista Competition and food manufacturers from our region. • LegenDAIRY Milking Barn Bring the family to the Shepparton Show’s LegenDAIRY Milking Barn in for an interactive session. Learn about the different breeds of cattle and perhaps even try your hand a milking a cow! • Sheep Shearing The Sheep Shearing station will feature live sheep shearing and children will be invited to take home some fleece after the demonstrations. • Celebrate the cropping industry Learn about local crops grown in the region, grind wheat into flour and even paint a macaroni necklace! • S ample local apples grown in the region • S ide show attractions • P lus all our regular competitions: Art and Craft, Cookery, Dairy Cattle, Goats, Poultry, Woodchop, Dogs, Cats, Miniature Ponies, Pet Parade, Tiny Tots and Rural Ambassador. EXPLANATION OF TERMINOLOGIES SECTION: Is the Major heading i.e. Cookery, (AC C 61) etc, which is given a number and under which you will find the various categories. CLASS: is the number under the Section which describes your exhibit. (ie AC 1 – fruitcake) EXHIBIT NUMBER: Exhibit numbers are sent to exhibitors after entries are received, as no names are placed on the item for judging, they will be allocated an exhibit number. Please bring your item for judging with the exhibit number attached. NOVICE: is a person who hasn't won a first prize at the Shepparton Show in section entered.

VAS Ltd Carrot Cake Recipe Ingredients: Olive oil, to grease, 350 g of grated carrot, 1 cup (150 g) SR flour, 1/2 cup (75 g) plain flour, 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 cup (80 g) brown sugar, 1/2 cup (125mls) oil, 1/2 cup (125mls) golden syrup, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Method:
1. Preheat oven to 170c, (a moderate oven). Grease a 20 cm (base) round cake pan lightly with oil, and line with non-stick baking paper. Peel and grate the carrots, and set aside. 2. Sift the flours, bicarbonate of soda and cinnamon into a large bowl. 3. Put the brown sugar, oil, golden syrup eggs and vanilla in a separate bowl. Use a balloon whisk to mix until combined. 4. Pour the oil mixture into the dry ingredients. Use a wooden spoon to stir gently until just combined. 5. Stir in the grated carrots and walnuts. 6. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 1 hour. Set aside for 5 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
AC1d Vas Ltd Carrot and Date Muffins, juniors, A competition for junior cake bakers under 18 on the day of their local show/field day Sponsor: Lamattina & Sons VAS LTD Carrot and Date Muffins Recipe Ingredients: 21/2 cups SR Flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 cup brown sugar 9 firmly packed), 1/3 cup chopped pitted dates, 1 cup coarsely grated carrot, 1 tablespoon orange marmalade, 1 cup canola oil, 2 eggs, lightly beaten, 3/4 cup orange juice, 1 cup reduced fat milk Method: 1. Pre heat oven to 190C (moderately hot)

2. Line a 12 hole muffin pan with Round Paper Muffin Cases Classic White Muffin Cases Size (35 mm Height x 90 mm wide x 50 mm Base) 3. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl; stir dates, carrots. Then add the combined marmalade, oil, eggs, juice and milk. Mix until just combined. 4. Spoon mixture evenly into Muffin paper cases in muffin pan. 5. Cook for 20 minutes. To test if muffins are cooked insert cake skewer; if it comes out clean the muffins are ready. 6. Stand muffins in pan for 5 minutes before removing to cool.

AC1a Vas Ltd Rich Fruit Cake Competition, Open to fruit cake enthusiasts everywhere Sponsor: Shepparton Agricultural Society Inc VAS Ltd Rich Fruit Cake Recipe Ingredients: 250 g Sultanas, 250 g Chopped Raisins, 250 g Currants, 125 g chopped mixed peel,90 g chopped red glace cherries, 90 g chopped blanched almonds, 1/3 cup sherry or brandy, 250 g plain flour, 60 g SR flour, 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg, 1/2 ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves, 250 g butter, 250 g brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon lemon essence OR finely grated lemon rind,1/2 teaspoon almond essence, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence, 4 large eggs. Method: Mix together all the fruits and nuts and sprinkle with sherry or brandy. Cover and leave for at least 1 hour, but preferably overnight. Stir together the flour and spices. Cream together the butter and sugar with the essences. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and then alternately add the fruit and flour mixtures. Mix thoroughly. The mixture should be stiff enough to support a wooden spoon. Place the mixture into tin 20 cm square, straight sided, square cornered tin and bake in a slow oven for approximately 3½–4 hours. Allow to cool in the tin. Hot tip: to ensure uniformity and depending upon the size, it is suggested the raisins be snipped 2 or 3 pieces, cherries into 4 or 6 pieces and almonds crosswise into 3 or 4 pieces. AC1b Vas Ltd Junior Boiled Fruit Cake Competition, A competition for junior cake bakers aged under 18 on the day of their local show/field day Sponsor: Shepparton Agricultural Society Inc VAS Ltd Junior Boiled Fruit Cake Recipe A competition for junior cake bakers aged under 18 on the day of their local show/field day. Ingredients: 375 g Mixed Fruit, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon mixed spice, 1/2 cup water, 125 g butter, 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate soda, 1/2 cup sherry, 2 eggs, lightly beaten, 2 tablespoons marmalade, 1 cup SR flour, 1 cup Plain flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt. Method: Place the mixed fruit, sugar, spice water and butter in a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer gently for 3 minutes, then remove from stove, add bicarbonate soda and allow to cool. Add the sherry, eggs and marmalade, mixing well. Fold in the sifted dry ingredients then place in a greased

Department of Agriculture PIC NUMBER of property on which cattle are at present depastured, must be included on entry form. FAILURE TO INCLUDE THE PIC NUMBER WILL RESULT IN ENTRY BEING REJECTED BY THE SOCIETY. ALL ANIMALS TO CARRY N.I.L.S TAGS. Age dates are from the July 1st. The following practices are strictly prohibited: • The use of glue or any type of adhesive etc., excepting for the setting of hair and teat sealing. • A n operation or any kind of surgery materially altering
the structure or the natural conformation of any part of the animal's body. • The infusion or injection of any drugs or any other substance or the insertion of any object into the teats, blood vessels, muscles, under the skin or otherwise, of any animal to restrict the flow of milk or alter its natural physical attributes. • The setting of the teats of an animal with any form of glue or other setting substance or any other action which alters the natural teat placement of an animal. Evidence of such practices renders an exhibit liable to instant disqualification and the Exhibitor or his agent liable to a suspension ranging from 5 years to lifetime. Procedures for the testing of prohibited substances will include "random" tests of exhibits. Should a positive to a prohibited substance or practice result any costs associated with the testing will be borne by the Exhibitor. Any animal infected with ringworm or warts shall be ineligible for exhibition. Evidence of possible hormone use renders an exhibit liable to instant disqualification. All cattle to be led by competent handlers with appropriate footwear. Exhibitors to bring own wheelbarrows, SAS will supply hoses.

The conditions of entry as follows:1. The calves to be under 6 months of age. 2. Each competitor to parade his or her own calf and must have genuinely have looked after it. 3. The event is open to heifer and bull calves and ANY BREED OR CROSS and the judge to take into account the usual standards for the type of calf and not to be a competition for biggest or heaviest calf. 4. The aim is to reward the general husbandry and stockmanship rather than the finer points of the particular breed. 5. The competition will not be concerned with methods of feeding and "Commercialism" is to be avoided.

VICTORIAN AGRICULTURAL SHOWS LIMITED – Shepparton Agricultural Show Society Inc PARTICIPANT RISK ACKNOWLEDGMENT & WAIVER By signing the front of this form you are agreeing to the following: Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd and the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society (“the Suppliers”) advise that participation in a competition or event at an agricultural show contains elements of risk, both obvious and inherent Competitions and events, including but not restricted to events involving chainsaws, hammers and other tools, axes, saws, whips, hay bales, stoves and other cooking implements and shears are dangerous recreational activities. 1. By signing this waiver I acknowledged that: 1.1 Participation in my chosen event is a hazardous activity and may result in injury, loss, damage or death to me; 1.2 Participation in the Event requires certain skills. I declare that I have sufficient skills to be able to safely and properly participate in the Event; 1.3 If the Event is held outdoors, there are risks to me as a result of the weather conditions, including either extreme hot or cold weather, rain or wind; 1.4 I am responsible for ensuring that I have and will wear equipment suitable for safely and properly participating in the Event; 1.5 I am responsible for the condition of any tools and equipment and ensuring that they are appropriate for the Event; and 1.6 I use the facilities of Shepparton Agricultural Show Society entirely at my own risk, as I find them and with the prior acceptance of the risk of possible danger to me. 2. If I suffer harm while participating in the Event, I will not hold the Suppliers, their employees, contractors or agents legally responsible for any injuries I suffer. I will not sue the Suppliers, their employees, contractors or agents for any claims, costs, damages or liability. I agree to release the Suppliers and their employees from legal responsibility for the services I have been provided. 3. I acknowledge and agree that my participation in the Event and associated activities is a danger and may have inherent risks as a result of which personal injury (and sometimes death) may occur and I accept and assume all such risks of personal injury or death in anyway whatsoever arising from these activities and hereby waive my individual right to sue the Suppliers for all claims I or my representatives may have for such personal injury or death against the Suppliers in any way whatsoever arising from or in connection with these activities. 4. EXPLANATORY NOTES 1. Risk Factors: (a) The herd contains goats that were born or raised with dairy goats. The herd contains dairy breeds or dairy cross breed goats. Exceptions are goats that are from Goat MAP herds, or goats born and raised in W A. (b) The herd has grazed land in the past 5 years that is at risk of JD contamination. Land at risk of JD contamination includes land that is being grazed, or has been grazed in the preceding 12 months, by: Dairy breeds or dairy cross bred goats, which are not sourced from GoatMAP herds. Goat herds with RD2 or lower status. Dairy cattle with a Dairy Assurance Score of less than 7. Beef cattle, other than those in the CattleMAP or Beef Only. Sheep other than SheepMAP flocks from areas without an audited Regional Biosecurity Plan which includes Ovine Johne’s disease. 2. days of show. 23. No exhibit, excepting livestock on one-day exhibition, which may be removed a 4.30 pm on day of exhibition. TERMS AND TIMES OF ADMISSION TO THE SHOW 24. The exhibition will be open to all Members of the Society who have paid their subscription for the current year on presentation of their member's tickets, which will also admit one guest and such members of their families as do not exceed 15 years of age. The public will be admitted on payment on each day of the show of $15.00 Adults, Primary School Children $5.00, Student with ID card $10.00, Pensioners $10.00, Family Day Pass $30 .00 (2 Adults, 3 Children 5–15yrs). (Cars-see Rule 2). One extra guest's ticket at $9.00 is available to a member only. 25. None but exhibitors and absolutely indispensable attendants on exhibits will be allowed inside the yards on the first day of the show. 26. None but parties having charge of exhibits, and who must present a pass from the Secretary, will be allowed within the yards before the time of opening the exhibition. 27. No animals, implements, or vehicles except those entering and vehicles bringing exhibits will be allowed in the yards and the latter must leave the yards immediately after discharging their loads. AWARDING OF PRIZES 28. The judges may award a second or third prize instead of a first, or withhold a prize altogether, when the exhibit is not considered worthy. 29. No appeal against the opinion of the judge shall be entertained. 30. CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS: The judge shall award Reserve Champion Ribbons in all horse and cattle classes in which Champion awards are made. The exhibit second in the class to the Champion shall be allowed to compete for the Reserve Champion. 31. When the judge thinks any stock or article worthy of a prize and there is none offered, their awards shall be taken as a recommendation for the committee's consideration. PROTESTS 32. All disputes or protests against exhibitors for infringement of these Rules must be made in writing to the Secretary within one hour of the event, and will be dealt with by the Committee of the Society. Fifty dollars ($50) deposit to accompany each protest, which made forfeited if the Committee considers the protests frivolous, and their decisions shall in all cases be final. All complaints against exhibitors or exhibits must be made in writing, signed by the complainant, and handed to the handed to the Secretary by 4.00 pm on Sunday, the 11th day of October 2015. Protest Committee: Messrs. D. Tuhan, P. Nicholson, M. Parker and L. Ohlin (minimum of three to act). RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SOCIETY 32. The committee will give every possible

the judges, and, if necessary, order the removal of such offenders from the yard, and the prize (if any) awarded to such person may be forfeited. 11. Deleted. 12. All exhibitors shall permit the Stewards to affix their prize cards notifying the awards of the judges, and shall permit same to remain affixed during the continuance of the show. 13-(a) Entries to the Show are accepted subject to the rules and regulations and by-laws of the Society and of the Show; (b) The entrant agrees to be bound by those rules and regulations and by-laws; (c) The entrant also agrees to abide by all decisions made by the Society, by the Group with which it is affiliated or by VAS LTD pursuant to those rules and regulations and by-laws; and (d) No decision so made shall be called into question by the entrant before any court or other body (whether or not of a similar nature to a court) whatsoever. 14. All machinery in motion shall be either securely fenced or be in such position or of such construction as to be equally safe to every person as it would be if it were securely fenced. 15. Each dog must have a lead and the Society's ticket with the number thereon, without which they will not be allowed to enter the judging ring. 15a. Boundaries between VCA Dogs and Machinery Stands must be abided by or the offender will be removed from the grounds. 16. Water will be provided for the stock, etc., but exhibitors must provide their own forage, etc., and manufacturers must also furnish price lists at which they can supply the article exhibited. 17. The Committee may withhold any prize when fraudulent or erroneous statements have been made regarding an exhibit, and may also withhold all prizes awarded to exhibitors who have been guilty of false statements of entries. They may be debarred from again exhibiting, and, if members shall be liable to expulsion from the Society. Exhibitors may be required to make a statutory declaration regarding their entries if the committee so desires, 18. Should any exhibit, having gained a prize, be disqualified, the next on the list does not necessarily obtain the prize. The Committee of the Society with or without the advice of the judges shall decide the question. JUDGES AND STEWARDS 19. JUDGES: No judge shall be an exhibitor in any class in which he acts as judge. 20. STEWARDS: Should a steward happen to be an exhibitor in any class in which he is a steward, he must stand aside during the judging of such class and take no part whatever in it. Stewards are requested to observe this rule. EXHIBITORS, STANDHOLDERS, SIDESHOW "PETS" 21. Dogs must be tied up "inside" floats or trucks or vehicles or caravans. REMOVAL OF EXHIBITS 22. REGULATIONS OF THE SHEPPARTON AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY INC to be held on FRIDAY 9th (Day and Night) and SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER 2015. The Shepparton Showground has been declared an ALCOHOL FREE ZONE. No alcohol will be permitted on grounds, $200 fine will apply. Bag searches will be conducted on entry to Showgrounds. Exhibitors are particularly requested to READ REGULATIONS CAREFULLY. – They will be STRICTLY ADHERED TO. N.B: Entries of exhibits are only received subject to the following regulations: RIGHT OF ENTRY AND FEES 1. All general entries must be made in writing, on forms supplied by the Society, and signed by or on behalf of the exhibitor, and delivered to the Secretary at her office, Showgrounds High St Shepparton, on or before the specified closing dates. The time for closing the entries will be strictly adhered to. NO LATE ENTRIES. POST ENTRIES EXCEPTED. 2. The holder of a Member's Ticket (with one Guest's Ticket) $35 will be allowed free admission to grounds. No cars will be admitted to the Showgrounds except with special exemption from rule obtained from the Registrar or those showing an Exhibitor’s car pass. N.B: All exhibits must be the bonafide property and in possession of the exhibitor at the date of closing of entry. 3. All exhibits must be entered in the name of the owner, who, on making the entry, will receive a ticket with the section, class and number thereon. 4. The Shepparton Agricultural Society Inc reserves the right to refuse any entry. 5. All persons who, after entering exhibits (especially of stock) shall be unable, through some unforeseen circumstances, to exhibit same, will be expected to give notice to the Secretary of their inability to exhibit before Friday 11th September. Post entries excepted. 6. All exhibits must be in the showgrounds, and placed ready for judging at time and date shown at head of each section. 7. No person shall show the same exhibit or part of exhibit in more than one class, except in classes marked "SPECIAL" and if eligible. This does not apply to dogs or horses. 8. No exhibit competing will be allowed to wear any ribbon, badge or mark until it has been finally judged. Only awards granted at the present show of the Shepparton Agricultural Society may be worn or attached to any exhibit on the Showgrounds. Any exhibitor offending is under penalty of $10 for each offence. 9. All debts to the Society must be finalised by the due date otherwise entries and or ground space may be refused at future exhibitions. 10. No exhibitor will be allowed in that section of the yard in which his exhibit is placed during the adjudication, unless with the consent of the Stewards of the class in which his exhibit is entered, and it shall be the duty of the Stewards to prevent any persons interfering with

facility to exhibitors, and every care will be taken of exhibits, but no responsibility will be incurred by the society, either in respect of any exhibit or in respect of any loss or damage sustained by reason of an exhibit. 33. Each exhibit shall hold the society and its members idemnified from any loss or damage sustained by or by reasons of his or her exhibit. SPECIAL NOTE The Society is prepared to give liberal encouragement to all kinds of novelties calculated to improve existing or new industries. OHS INFORMATION ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS (To be read in association with General Safety Regulations) ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION Site holders and Showmen must give protection of the environment a high priority in all activities on site and must not commit any act that will place the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society Inc (SASS) in breach of any regulation. Any accidental spill or release of substances which may contaminate or harm the environment must be immediately contained and then reported to the Secretary or Ground Manager. Any requirement to discharge substances into the air, stormwater or sewers must be approved by the Secretary. Where the work requires the disposal of any environmentally harmful substance, the Site holders and Showmen shall be responsible for the removal, transport and disposal in accordance with all statutory regulations and laws, so as not to place SASS in breach of any regulation. Tasks which require particular care include: • Refuelling of engines of vehicles, generators, etc. • Disposal of wastewater, cooking fats, etc. ELECTRICAL • All electrical equipment and appliances (power tools, extension leads, etc) must conform to all relevant statutory authorities’ requirements. • Earth Leakage Protection / Residual Current Devices must be used in conjunction with all power tools and extension leads. • Extension leads must be fixed overhead away from pedestrian or vehicular traffic. • Extension leads MUST BE safety tested and tagged with the tag current for the period of the Show. • Any leads that require tagging on the day of the Show will be carried out at the expense of the Exhibitor. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Site holders and Showmen are to provide their employees with and enforce the wearing of, all safety equipment
appropriate to the tasks being performed or as deemed mandatory to the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society Inc. This includes gloves, earmuffs, safety boots, safety glasses, facemasks, safety helmets, fall protection harnesses, etc in association with appropriate clothing. Loose clothing, jewellery and unruly hair are dangerous near revolving machinery and personnel operating this equipment are to be suitably clothed. CONDUCT OF SITEHOLDERS’ AND SHOWMEN’S EMPLOYEES Site holders and Showmen are responsible for the conduct of their employees. Skylarking, throwing of objects, careless driving, abusive language, fighting on the site and/or grounds is prohibited. INSURANCE It is mandatory for Showmen to have in place the following insurances: • Workers Compensation Insurance in accordance with the applicable legislative requirements. • Public and Product Liability Insurance with a limit of not less than $5,000,000 for any one occurrence. • Insurances for Plant and Equipment for which they are responsible. SECURITY Site holders and Showmen are responsible for securing their tools, equipment and property adequately, as well as the personal property of their employees, as the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society accepts no responsibility for damage or theft. HOUSEKEEPING/CLEANING – Site holders and Showmen must continually keep their areas clean of debris, packaging materials, etc and place all waste in the provided bins. Every effort is to be made to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle materials. LPG CYLINDERS All LPG cylinders are to be secure, safely installed, tested and ventilated. PREVENTION OF FALLS In March 2010 Worksafe Victoria introduced the OH&S [Prevention of Falls] Regulations 2010. All guild members need to familiarise themselves with the regulations and the “Code of Practice – Prevention of Falls in General Construction”. Both of which are available from Worksafe Victoria. It is the responsibility of members of the Showmen’s Guild to ensure that they have appropriate and adequate prevention measures in place BEFORE any erection of equipment commences at the Shepparton Agricultural Show site. Erection of scaffolding is subject to separate statutory requirements and these are to be adhered to at all times, particularly the fitting of access ladders, kickboards and handrails. Working at heights: There are regulations for working at heights 2 metres & above. Exhibitors must ensure they comply with Worksafe regulations when working above 2 metres. Guidelines for the use of ladders are set out in the OH&S [Prevention of Falls Regulations 2004 and the companion Code of Practice]
Additionally, all ladders shall conform to the appropriate Australian Standards, be maintained in safe condition and be tied off when in use. Aluminium ladders shall not be used for electrical work. MATERIALS BROUGHT ONTO SHOWGROUNDS If there is risk or harm to either personnel or the environment, the Site holders and Showmen shall provide to the Secretary the Material Safety Data Sheet for the substance for approval, prior to use. Flammable and combustible materials shall only be stored in approved containers, labelled with contents as per relevant regulations. PAINTING / FIXINGS Permission must be obtained before commencing any painting on any surface, which is the property of the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society Inc. Similarly, Site holders and Showmen should restrain from driving any nails or screws into any surface, which is the property of the Shepparton Agricultural Show Society for safety reasons (to avoid contacting electrical cables, water pipes, etc). HIGH RISK ACTIVITIES A number of Site holders’ and Showmen’s activities have been assessed as of higher risk and require additional attention to safety and environmental aspects: • Amusement Rides – All safety regulations and requirements of relevant authorities are to be complied with in the erection, securing, operation and dismantling of this equipment. • Equipment Guarding – All machine guards are to be maintained in a safe condition and be securely fitted to equipment before any equipment is operated. The equipment must be stopped before any guard is to be removed and an authorised person following safe procedures must only remove it. • Additionally, prevention of falls as determined in section 10 must be implemented for the construction/ erection of this type of equipment. EMERGENCY EXITS & FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT ACCESS Access aisle ways and pathways to all Emergency Exits and Fire fighting equipment are to be kept totally clear at all times. External exits of doors from buildings are to be regularly checked for clear space. At all times there must be access along all roadways for fire fighting vehicles and other emergency services vehicles. [It is not permissible for ticketboxes etc to protrude onto roadways etc and to block the safe access of these vehicles. Objects that protrude at height such as prize displays must also not protrude in the air space above roadways] CITY OF GREATER SHEPPARTON HEALTH REGULATIONS All food vendors (exposed and packaged) must adhere to City of Greater Shepparton Health Regulations, Registrations and Bylaws.
