The section of Lower McAlpine Creek Greenway under the I-485 bridge will close later this month and will remain closed through early summer 2014. “RECORD SETTING” CITIZEN PARTICIPATION Park and Recreation Aims for Guinness World Record The Mecklenburg County Aquatics Division took part in The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Tuesday June 18th with over 60 participants learning about pool safety and how to swim at Double Oaks pool. Thousands of participants from all over the world join together each year to raise awareness about the importance of teaching children how to swim and to set a new record in the Guinness World Records book. See Photos on Page 5 for more scenes from this event.
