SUMMER RECREATION IN FULL SWING 5th Year of Adaptive Kayaking Programs Latta Plantation Nature Center recently started their 5th year of partnership with Carolina’s Rehabilitation Adaptive Sports and Adventure Program. Giving adults with spinal cord injuries the opportunity to participate in kayaking, an activity some thought would never be possible after suffering their injury. Through the years of this partnership we have established many regular participants, some missing only one or two tours since the program started in 2008. While our regular paddlers continue to come back, we get at least one new participant each month, opening the door to a whole new world of independence and freedom on the water. During the tour earlier this summer, paddlers also learned about the duck box monitoring project taking place on Mountain Island Lake. See Page 6 for more information.
