Mecklenburg County Facilities Master Plan The County’s vision is to be the “best local government service provider” and our mission is “to serve Mecklenburg County residents by helping improve their lives and community.” We strive to give excellent customer service by responding to the needs of our customers and clients. We have been doing a great job and I want to thank each of you for your dedication to your work. We are currently engaged in and finalizing a study to develop a Government Facilities Master Plan. The goal is to determine the best way to provide the highest quality of service to our customers in a way that is convenient to them and creates a better work environment for you. We want to invest in facilities that are best suited for both our customers and employees. Part of this strategy is land disposition. We already know that we will sell the Hal Marshall Center and Bob Walton Plaza in conjunction with the redevelopment of Uptown Charlotte. Employees currently working in these buildings will move to different facilities. The Government Facilities Master Plan will impact a vast number of our employees working in many different departments. The process will take at least five years to complete and during that time we will seek input from departments on how to create these Community Resource Centers. Your input is welcome, too. We are developing a stakeholder engagement process that will provide employees as well as the community an opportunity to comment on the plan. I am excited about this path we are on and hope that you share my enthusiasm as we strive to improve the lives and community of Mecklenburg County residents. Regards, Dena
