Celebrate the Holidays with Festive Park and Rec Events The holidays are right around the corner and Park and Recreation offers plenty of events and programs that are sure to get you and your family in the festive spirit. Events begin this weekend and are offered at affordable prices; some are even free! Brunch with Santa at Bette Rae Thomas Rec Center: Dec. 6, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., $3 per child to attend / Parent participation is required. Enjoy a waffle brunch, craft ornament making, and a picture with Santa. Feel free to bring your smart phones and tablets to take pictures. Park and Rec offers holiday events for the entire family! A Forest Celebration Series at Reedy Creek Nature Center: Dec. 6, multiple offerings, cost varies. The holiday season is here and what better way to celebrate than by discovering some of the gifts Mother Nature gives us? Morning offerings: Create a beeswax candle or an ornament using gifts directly from nature followed by a celebratory hike in the forest! Afternoon offerings: Join us as we huddle around the fire roasting marshmallows and listen to a special reading of "The Night Tree" by Eve Bunting. Registration is mandatory and limited. Swim with Santa at Ray’s Splash Planet: Dec. 12, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., General admission rates (No coupons or discounts allowed during this event). Get in the holiday spirit early and spend some quality time with the man himself – Santa Claus! Join him for a swim in the splash park this holiday season. Be sure to bring your wish list.
