Hymn Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light accessible hid from our eyes, most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light; nor wanting, nor wasting, thou fullest in might thy justice like mountains high - soaring above thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love. To all life thou givest, to both great and small; in all life thou livest, the true life of all; we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, and wither and perish; but naught changeth thee. Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; all laud we would render: O help us to see 'tis only the splendour of light hideth thee.
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All: Amen Priest: The grace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All: And with your spirit.
Penitential Rite Priest: Gathered as the family of God to celebrate the mystery of Christ’s love for us, let us pause for a moment and call to mind not only our sins and failings, but also any that Peter may have had during his life, and ask the Lord for his forgiveness for He is full of mercy and compassion. Priest: Lord Jesus, you raise the dead to life in the spirit. Lord, have mercy. All: Lord have mercy. Priest: You bring pardon and peace to the sinner. Christ, have mercy. All: Christ, have mercy. Priest: You bring light to those in darkness. Lord, have mercy. All: Lord, have mercy. Priest: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring us everlasting life.

Hymn The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine forever. Where streams of living water flow my ransomed soul he leadeth, and where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth. Perverse and foolish oft I strayed but yet in love he sought me, and on his shoulder gently laid, and home, rejoicing, brought me. In death’s dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me; thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me. Thou spread’st a table in my sight, thy unction grace bestoweth; and O what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth! And so through all the length of days thy goodness faileth never; good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house for ever.

Final Commendation Peter’s coffin is sprinkled with holy water and incense. Prayer of Commendation Blessing Final Hymn Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy, whose trust, ever child-like, no cares could destroy, be there at our waking, and give us, we pray, your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day. Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith, whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe, be there at our labours and give us, we pray, your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day. Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace, your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace, be there at our homing and give us, we pray, your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.
