Automatic Flush
The flush solenoid is opened by the control panel to allow the solvent in the flush reservoir to pass through the vacuum pump and remove any soluable solid material from the vacuum pump. The flow rate of the solvent is manually set with the supplied needle valve. Notes: Option LS

VACUUM PUMP
1. The flush is only applicable to dry or once-through-oil vacuum pumps. 2. The flush is typically done on timed intervals, at shut down, or when the motor amps reach a certain level. A manual flush button on the control panel is another option for initiating a flush. 3. The flush reservoir is constructed out of polypropylene which has good resistance to most solvents that would be used for flushing the vacuum pump. The liquid level can be seen through the tank, so a level gauge is not required. If required by the customer, a level switch can be added to allow indication that the flush fluid is running low. 4. The solvent is drawn into the vacuum pump by the vacuum. If the vapor pressure of the flushing solvent is greater than the vacuum of the process, the solvent will vaporize. This could affect the vacuum, if a lot of solvent was flushed at one time, and may reduce the effectiveness of the flush. If the vapor pressure of the solvent is much less than the pressure at the inlet of the vacuum pump, then the solvent will stay a liquid and not disrupt the process vacuum. 5. A manual valve would replace the solenoid valve for a manual flush.

6. The exhuast piping and/or muffler of the vacuum pump must contain a drip leg to prevent the solvent from collecting and running back into the vacuum pump.
