About the Region: The BRAC Factor North Alabama is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation, due in large part to the influx of jobs being created by the most recent Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC) that is moving the US Army’s Missile Defense Agency to Huntsville’s Redstone Arsenal. Combined with the corresponding contractor company growth to the area, the total is 33,000 jobs and a population of 70,000 mostly in Madison (Huntsville), Morgan (Decatur), and Limestone (Athens) Counties.
