She is a member of the freelance group, Plan 3, which is based in Järntorget in Göteborg, Sweden. With her passion for food, she has created several well-known products for the kitchen. Finding inspiration and motivation in everyday situations, she works with designs that bring together functional, tactile and visual elements – much to the delight of those who use the products.

In 1990 he graduated from the industrial department of the Swedish Academy of Art and Crafts in Stockholm. Since then he has freelanced as a designer for many clients in Sweden and elsewhere. Hanna Werning is a graphic designer, trained at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London. She spent three years as senior designer at Foundation 33 in London, serving such notable clients as Channel 4, Island Records, MTV and Serpentine Gallery. She has designed textile patterns for Borås Cotton, Eastpak, Dagmar, Boxfresh and Stüssy. Her most famous creations so far are her AnimalFlowers wallpaper posters. In 2004, Hanna received the Elle Decoration International Design Award for ‘Wall Coverings and Wallpaper’.

When I began work on designing POP, the aim was to unite visual joy and playfulness with function: a lovely feeling when you hold a cup or mug in your hands. I searched for designs with character and charm. Objects that stand out and brighten up your kitchen: on the dining table or a kitchen shelf waiting to be used. I have always been fascinated by the typical Swedish coffee drinking habits and wanted to design a series of items that quite simply enhance everyday life â&#x20AC;&#x201C; cups and saucers for sweet treats and satisfying sandwiches.

DESIGNER MARKUS JOHANSSON Markus Johansson (born 1982) trained in furniture and product design at the HDK School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg, and has since worked on various design projects for Swedish and international customers. From his office and showroom in central Gothenburg, he constantly creates new, exciting pieces of furniture and products. Markus has taken part in a number of exhibitions all over the world, with his designs being shown in cities including Milan, New York, London and Stockholm. He is most famous for his “Nest” chair which can be viewed at the Mad Museum of Art and Design in New York.

Birdie, born out of the interplay of cones and spheres. Birdie has clear shape with a good grip and a the spherical top piece offers a very precisely fit. The decatner is made in two sizes, one for vin and one for water in 75 cl and 50 cl. Birdie can orders in four different colors – turquoise, purple, gray and amber.

WIS Design is a Swedish design duo featuring Lisa Widén and Anna Wallin Irinarchos. Their designs have been described as a poetical and playful expression, where decoration and function works together, to give us another dimension to all the things that surround our daily lives. WIA Design has been working with Svenskt Tenn, Design House Stockholm, Casamania, IKEA and now Sagaform. They design everything from smaller everyday objects through to bigger furniture, like their creation “Decades” – a chest of drawers from different decades, one of which can be seen at The National Museum in Stockholm.

I´ve created wine glasses with a joyful feel based on a green-blue and red-purple colour palette. DESIGNER GUSTAV HALLÉN Gustav Hallén has a bachelor’s degree in industrial design and a master’s degree in interaction design and trained at the Umeå Institute of Design as well as at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm. After finishing his studies and gaining experience from IDEO Product Development, Gustav set up his own business working mainly with product development but also with interaction design and graphic design. His commissions have resulted in designs for various items, including furniture, interior details, telephones, hi-tech spectacles, packaging and TV graphics. Like the Accent coffee pot, Gustav’s products often have a clear graphic identity. Gustav has won two Red Dot Design Awards and is represented at MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art) in New York.

Gustav Hallén has a bachelor’s degree in industrial design and a master’s degree in interaction design and trained at the Umeå Institute of Design as well as at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts & Design in Stockholm. After finishing his studies and gaining experience from IDEO Product Development, Gustav set up his own business working mainly with product development but also with interaction design and graphic design. His commissions have resulted in designs for various items, including furniture, interior details, telephones, hi-tech spectacles, packaging and TV graphics. Like the Accent coffee pot, Gustav’s products often have a clear graphic identity. Gustav has won two Red Dot Design Awards and is represented at MoMA (the Museum of Modern Art) in New York.

With Green I wanted to draw the garden into the kitchen via the stove and up to the dining table. A feeling of the kitchen garden indoors, the joy of cultivation in mini format. The idea is that you can spice up your meal yourself according to your taste and preferences. These are functional, decorative products designed to provide a budding spring atmosphere all year round. I was looking for soft, plump curves with a graphic look. Shapes that let in a lot of light and frame the plants. The relief waves are a flirt with all the garden borders that have been carefully tended over the years and charmingly edged with shaped concrete flags. Dusky glossy pastels and matt graphite coloured pots look good with green leaves and cuttings.

trap design by matz borgström “EN LURIG FÄLLA FÖR ALLA SOMMARENS SMÅ KRYP” Formgivaren Matz Borgström har tillsammans med Sagaform tagit fram getingfällan TRAP. Den undre behållaren fylls med en söt och väldoftande vätska som lätt tilldrar sig getingens uppmärksamhet. Den övre delen fungerar som en tillslutning och dess hål som ingång för getingen. Håligheten är konstruerad så att getingen inte kan ta sig ut. Med andra ord ett effektivt sätt att bli av med allt störande surr och obehagliga stick då sommarens middagar intas utomhus. “AN INGENIOUS TRAP FOR ALL THOSE SUMMER CREEPY-CRAWLIES” Designer Matz Borgström has worked with Sagaform to create this TRAP wasp trap. The bottom reservoir is filled with a sweet, fragrant liquid to attract the wasp. The upper section works as a seal and its holes as an entrance for the wasp. The holes are configured so that the wasp can’t get out. In other words, it’s a very effective way of getting rid of all that irritating buzzing and unpleasant stings when you are eating your dinner outdoors in the summer.

Sagaform’s work with ethics and the environment A joyful world needs companies that take responsibility for the environment and ethics. We have an active CSR strategy which includes everything from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and recycling packaging to improving working conditions in the countries where our products are made. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND OUR CODE OF CONDUCT Sagaform does not own any factories. Instead we work with external suppliers who specialise in areas such as glass or ceramics. We demand that our suppliers abide by ILO conventions and work towards constant improvements when it comes to the environment and ethics. Our Code of Conduct includes requirements for minimum wages, regulated working hours and a ban on child labour. As active BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) members, we work systematically with supplier inspections, dialogue and follow-up in order to ensure that our Code of Conduct is being complied with. All BSCI inspections are carried out by accredited third-party institutes in order to ensure independent monitoring. This provides quality control assurance for us, our suppliers and for our customers. We also have our own CSR staff in the New Wave Group’s purchasing offices, who work full time visiting and supervising our suppliers to ensure that they take 118

social and environmental issues into consideration during production. This forms the basis of good collaboration and better control of the production chain, which is an assurance for us.

LONG-TERM DIALOGUE Some issues and challenges require collaboration at a higher level. That is why our CSR staff also work in forum and round-the-table discussions with other companies and international organisations. For example, several times a year, we take part in BSCI meetings together with other BSCI companies involved in areas ranging from clothing to food to technical. We also take part in Buyers Forum in Bangladesh, which is coordinated by the World Bank, and has included facilitating discussions with government representatives.

RECYCLING FOR A SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY By sorting our waste, we can help to reduce environmental impact and create a sustainable eco-cycle. Sagaform takes responsibility for being a producer and pays the costs involved when customers hand in their packaging at collection stations for recycling. The Green Dot is international proof that our packaging is part of a recycling system. We think that feels good!

MORE ON THE ENVIRONMENT Transport produces a large proportion of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Transport by boat is generally the best alternative for goods that are shipped long distances and we try to avoid air transport as far as possible. Sagaform has two main strategies for reducing our impact on the environment from transport. We try to influence the shipping agents and transport companies we work with by participating in the “Clean Shipping Project” network. This network, which was founded in 2007, has created a tool that helps companies to evaluate various freight and shipping agents according to their environmental impact. This information can then be used during negotiations in order to pressurise agents to make environmental adaptations.

We also consolidate all our shipments with our sister companies within the New Wave Group. In this way, we protect the environment from unnecessary journeys and half-filled loads by making sure containers and loads are always full.

OUR WORK ON CHEMICALS Sagaform products should be safe and free from banned substances. That is why all our suppliers must follow the standards set out in the Group’s chemical list. The list has been created to comply with current legislation, such as REACH and EU regulations on products that come into contact with foodstuffs, as well as taking recommendations from various industries into account. We are part of the Swerea Chemicals Group, through which we are party to all the latest information and developments concerning chemicals and regulations. We also carry out random checks and tests to make sure the products in our range live up to Sagaform’s demands.
