Course Introduction Diploma in Dietetics , Health & Nutrition (DDHN ) is an 8 module classroom programme spread over 480 hrs comprising Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Anatomy, Physiology, Community Nutrition, Alternative Therapies, Therapeutic Nutrition

Programme Eligibility 10+2 passout (preferably Science background)

Nutrition

• Nutrition & Nutrients - functions, sources, deficiencies, toxicity, modes of energy expenditure , benefits of flavors and colors in fruits & vegetables

Food Science

• Food groups like cereals, pulses, fruits & vegetables, flesh foods, preservatives , milk products, fats & oils , sugar & condiments , details of food labeling

Anatomy & Physiology

• Body part- structure, functions, role & corelation in food digestion, assimilation, metabolism of all nutrients.

Dietetics

• Meal Planning & dietary therapy for life cycles- Infancy, early childhood, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age , pregnancy & lactation.

Community Nutrition

• Information on government run nutrition & supplementary feeding programmes , ways to enhance the counseling skills and methods of communication

Therapeutic Nutrition

• Diet planning for conditions like arthritis, cardio-vascular disorder, diabetes, gout, febrile disorders, renal disorders, liver disorders, obesity etc

Anatomy & Physiology

• Physiological systems in the human body and malfunctions

Alternate therapy

• Ayurveda, acupressure, yoga , body therapies and massages
