It is with great honor that the Austin D. Lucas Board of Trustees presents the Austin D. Lucas Trust Award to Rachel Weitzman, one of the 2014 scholarship recipients. This prestigious award commemorates Austin D. Lucas’ many years of philanthropy and dedication to charitable works. Each year this award is presented to the scholarship recipient who best exemplifies Austin’s spirit of generosity and dedication to the service of others. Rachel is the daughter of Howard and Beverly Weitzman of Great American Group. The Trustees chose Rachel for her commitment to public service. Rachel has an accomplished academic record and has dedicated her studies to the medical field with a concentration in medical research. She aspires to work to make a difference in the lives of others. Rachel’s statement:
“I greatly appreciate the honors of receiving the Austin D. Lucas Trust Award and Austin D. Lucas Scholarship. The scholarship has aided my family in my pursuit of a strong higher education. Furthermore, Austin D. Lucas was an incredibly giving man, and I am privileged to be presented with this award in his name. My dedication to public service and volunteer work is a central component of my identity. Whether through volunteer work in a scientific research laboratory or raising awareness and funds for the crises in Darfur and the Congo, I am committed to making a difference in my community. I sincerely believe that each step an individual takes to engage in volunteering yields a positive impact. Thank you again for this honor.” - Rachel Weitzman The Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund was started in 1983 by Austin Lucas, a machinery dealer, whose goal was to help fund the college education of children whose parents work for firms belonging to the MDNA. Over the years, the scholarship fund has grown through contributions of Austin’s fellow MDNA members. It is from this fund that scholarships are awarded.

MDNA Hotel Rate is $199.00 per night 4. The Cherry Blossoms bloom in April in D.C. 5. The Hotel is close to two Metro stations and just blocks from the White House, National Museums, shopping and nightlife 6. The Mayflower has hosted the Presidential Inaugural Ball for every president since Calvin Coolidge 7. President Truman once said the Mayflower was Washington, D.C.'s "Second Best Address after the White House.� 8. Franklin D. Roosevelt stayed at the hotel and worked on his famous "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" inaugural address while there 9. Mayflower is on the National Registry of Historic Places and is a Historic Hotel of America 10. MDNA 2014 September Board Report Next Generation
Second Vice President Joe Lundvick, CEA reported that the Next Generation Committee is being suspended at this time, to be reinstated on an as-needed basis. In its place, a series of conference calls will be scheduled to invite input from members. The first meeting will take place this fall. All members are welcome to participate. An announcement will be made in the Biweekly.
Public Relations
Production of the 2015 Buyer’s Guide has begun. All members are listed in the alpha section and can also be listed in one specialty section. But you must contact the MDNA office to take advantage. The new www.MDNA.ORG website was successfully launched.
Convention
Chairman John Conroy, CEA, reported that the 2015 convention will be held April 23-26 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, with a group room rate of $199.
Chapter Leadership
After input from chapter leaders and members the Board approved a plan to roll the Southwest Chapter members into the Southeast Chapter and to change the name to the Southern Regional Chapter.
AMEA
The next Appraisers’ Forum will be held March 18-21, 2015, in Chicago. Plans are to offer the 15-hour USPAP course in conjunction with the forum.

Chicago Chapter Reception IMTS 2014 Over 200 people were on hand including MDNA Member Firms, Premier Vendors, Prospective Member Companies and their guests for what many have described as "the best MDNA Chicago Chapter Reception and Dinner ever held." We would like to thank the Chicago Chapter leadership team and the sponsors for making this evening such a success. Chapter Chairman Bob Yeoman and the leadership team of John Josko, Joe Lundvick and Ronnie Graff all worked tirelessly to put this event together. Without our sponsors (listed right) we could not have had this outstanding networking event at the new Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, in the great city of Chicago during IMTS 2014. The MDNA would also like to thank the people who volunteered their valuable time at the MDNA booth at IMTS. Our booth space, provided by Allways Precision Inc. was staffed the entire week by both MDNA member volunteers and MDNA staff who represented the Association and collected leads on behalf of all members. George Scott, IV Steps Down from MDNA Board George E. Scott, IV of MDNA Member firm Scott Machinery & Supply, Inc. has stepped down after more than 10 years of service on the MDNA Board. The MDNA and Board of Directors have benefitted from his energy, creativity and leadership while serving the Association. George served as the 2004 Vice Chairman of Southeast Chapter 2005-2006 Chairman of Southeast Chapter 2008-2014 Board of Directors (Director) 2007-2014 Southeast Chapter Representative 2007-2014 Public Relations Committee 2011-2014 Public Relations Committee Chairman 2007-2014 Membership/Membership Retention Committee 2011-2014 Next Generation Committee
