Have you opened your inbox lately and come across a letter from MDNA titled “The More You Know” with President Joe? In the spring of 2017 MDNA’s Public Relations & Membership Committees joined together with MDNA President, Joe Lundvick, launching a new campaign called, “The More You Know.” The campaign was launched in an effort to communicate important member benefits that members may not be aware of and should be taking advantage of. The emails are sent out every couple of weeks through MDNA’s Constant Contact e-communications and are written by MDNA’s President, Joe Lundvick. In them, Joe highlights important member benefits with real time examples, current events, personal experiences, and how specific member benefits have helped him and could also help members. If you’ve missed these letters you can visit www.mdna.org and find past letters in the NEWSROOM

shared his insight learned from over 29 years in the used machinery business. And last month Craig L. Ward, CEA of F. P. Miller Company shared his in-depth knowledge of Blanchard Grinders. This free member benefit is here for you. Brush up on the latest industry specific news, or have a new employee register and expand their knowledge base. Members can take advantage of the expanded educational offerings in both industry relevant and general business topics through the use of these online webinars. Webinars are announced via e-mail two weeks in advance and are posted on the calendar page at www.mdna.org. If you have a topic that you would like covered or would like to volunteer to teach a webinar please contact the national office. I use this member benefit and so should you! MDNA President - Joe Lundvick, CEA Perfection Global, LLC

If you are not receiving these emails and are not signed up for MDNA email communications please contact office@mdna.org to be added to our email list.

Dear MDNA Members,

Dear MDNA Members, (...) I know that like myself, your lives are likely busy and hectic, working in the used machinery industry. And therefore, we sometimes lose sight of the many benefits that come with belonging to MDNA. This quick note is intended to draw your attention to one of the benefits that come with MDNA membership. The MDNA "Lunch & Learn" Webinar Series is a fantastic member benefit that is available to all member companies and all of your employees. Our goal is to run one every month. Did you catch last week's webinar on the CNC Machine Tool Market? Presented by John Lawton, CEA, General Manager of Machinesused.com. John

Sometimes the more you know is not about education or member benefits. Sometimes, the more you know is just plain COOL! Recently I convened a meeting of the MDNA Officers and Committee Chairman to strategize on the association's upcoming year. It was a very productive meeting with some great ideas being discussed that will further the education and member benefits of our great organization. What I want to share with you today is on a lighter topic. Most "experienced" MDNA Members have heard stories of the old days in this business. This was a time when New York City was the center of the east coast machinery business. I remember hearing stories, for example, of a young Richard Bass of former MDNA member Rudolph Bass Inc., illegally painting the curb on Center Street yellow, so no one would park in front of the family business. I knew of Grand Machinery Exchange Inc., on Hester and Bayard Street and I knew that National Machinery Exchange was on Mott Street and a host of other members on Center Street and the surrounding neighborhood "home."...)

AUSTIN D. LUCAS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

2017-2018 WINNER Sarah B. Johnson

2017-18 RECIPIENTS

The Austin D. Lucas Board of Trustees is honored to present the Austin D. Lucas Trust Award to Sarah B. Johnson. This prestigious award commemorates Austin D. Lucas’ many years of philanthropy and dedication to charitable works. Each year this award is presented to the scholarship recipient who best exemplifies Austin’s spirit of generosity and dedication to the service of others.

I am greatly honored to be the recipient of the Austin D. Lucas Trust Award and the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year. This award has enabled me to continue my education of an undergraduate degree in Biology to pursue a future career in the healthcare field. Not only has this award helped me focus within the classroom, but it has also made it possible for me to continue volunteering in the community around my university. I believe serving others, especially those less fortunate and in need of help, is a vital part in making a positive impact in the world we live in. I hope to be an exemplary model and representative of the Austin D. Lucas Trust Award by honoring his memory with continuous service to others both in my college career and throughout my life. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship fund that has gifted me and other students the opportunity for a higher education. Many thanks, Sarah B. Johnson The Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund was started in 1983 by Austin D. Lucas, a machinery dealer, whose goal was to help fund the college education of children whose parents work for firms belonging to MDNA. Over the years the scholarship fund has grown through contributions of Austin’s fellow MDNA members. It is from this fund that scholarships are awarded.
