STATE OF THE ASSOCIATION WITH MDNA PRESIDENT Tales of the Traveling President As I write this article we are winding down 2014 - I want to update you on the happenings in MDNA and my association travel. We had a great turnout in Chicago for the biannual chapter meeting that coincides with IMTS. This was an outstanding networking event. Prior to the dinner meeting, many of us were able to catch up with old acquaintances and meet new dealers. I was very excited to see that many of the attendees stayed around after the meeting to network. Newly elected Chapter Chairman John Josko of Industrial Asset Appraisals & Consulting, Inc., the chapter officer team, and the entire chapter did a great job in hosting. I especially loved the new venue at the Radisson Blu. Another plus was the silent auction of sports memorabilia, where our portion of the proceeds went to the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund. In October, I was fortunate to be able to attend the Milwaukee/Minnesota Chapter meeting. The host, SOMINN Machinery Sales - JJ Francis, had an open house and tour of his warehouse. Then we were off to McNelius Truck, where we witnessed the manufactur-ing of cement and sanitation trucks followed by a well-run dinner meeting, which was led by the newly elected Chapter Chairman, Brad Wilson of Alternative Machine Tool, LLC. Additionally, it appears that the Milwaukee/ Minneapolis Chapter will be the host for the next WWTP in 2015. I expect this to be an outstanding weekend. Next up, in November while at FABTECH in Atlanta, the Southern Regional Chapter hosted a successful dinner meeting. Many out-of-towners who were visiting the trade show attended - it was another successful networking evening. Chapter Vice Chairman John Butz of ReSell CNC did a great job setting up and running the meeting. A week later found me closer to home. The Philadelphia Chapter hosted what was billed as a Tri-Chapter meeting, which included both the NY/NJ and the New England Chapters. We had close to 75 people in attendance, including representatives from

all three of the chapters, prospective members, Premier Vendors, prospective PV’s, as well as a member from the Southern Regional Chapter who travelled all the way from Houston. This event started with an open house hosted by Action Machinery Co., Inc. in Bethlehem, PA - the Khoury’s were great hosts. I know everyone especially enjoyed seeing Tom Khoury’s many hunting trophies all over their offices. This was followed by a meeting at the Sands Casino and Hotel - it was a superb evening filled with lots of networking - a big thank you to Philadelphia Chapter Chairman Troy Clark and the other Philadelphia Chapter officers and leaders for putting together an outstanding event. We are excited about the successes of the chapter meetings and events as we recognize the importance of maintaining and strengthening the connections that these chapters bring to their members. This upcoming year, Mark Robinson, our Executive Vice President, will continue to work with the chapter leadership to keep up the momentum. Speaking of momentum, our Premier Vendor program has been growing by leaps and bounds and has become an outstanding initiative that is very beneficial to all involved. In addition, we look forward to adding as many as nine new dealer members to our association this January. I am very proud to announce that we rolled out the “New and Improved MDNA Website.” This website is the result of many months of hard work by Jennifer Gray, our Marketing Manager; Melissa Engelhart, MDNA Public Relations Chairperson, and the entire PR Committee. It is much more visually appealing, easier to navigate and provides a greater amount of

information about our association. In addition, we began implementing Search Engine Optimization tactics to help drive traffic to the new website. Part of this strategy has been to continually remain active on social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. The Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund has continually provided scholarships to children of MDNA member employees. This year we awarded $85,000 to 67 deserving students. This is truly a remarkable accomplishment which is a tribute to the President of the Scholarship Fund, Kristine Conroy, and the Board of Trustees’ hard work and dedication. Finally, I want to remind all of you that our next annual convention will be taking place in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, in April. I know this will be an outstanding event and promises to be very well attended. The seminars that have been arranged will be educational. The social events will be a lot of fun. I guarantee that you and your business will benefit. You will create networking connections that will make you money and save you money, and you will also learn something new. I encourage all to attend. This will be a great opportunity to bring your families to visit this vibrant, historical city filled with unlimited sites to explore and enjoy.

Looking forward to seeing you in April! Ron Shuster, MDNA President, Federal Equipment -PME Technologies, Inc.
