As a child, the orphaned Jane Eyre is taught by her severe guardians to stifle her natural exuberance. A part of herself is locked away, out of view of polite society – until she arrives at Mr Rochester’s house as a governess to his young child. Soon Rochester’s passionate nature reawakens Jane’s hidden self; but darker secrets are stirring in the attic… Written for Shared Experience Theatre Company, Polly Teale’s bold and theatrically inventive adaptation of Brontë’s literary classic puts the interior life of the novel on stage. ‘The human heart has hidden treasures In secret kept, in silence sealed -’ An amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

In a luxurious bedroom, two maids fantasise about the pleasure of murdering their Mistress, acting out the same elaborate ritual night after night. As the boundaries between fantasy and reality begin to blur, a lifetime of oppression and brutality comes to a head in a shocking, unexpected climax.

It is May 1951 and author and former communist sympathiser Goronwy Rees receives a visit from an old university friend. What follows is a crisis of conscience as his peaceful country life is turned upside down by the arrival of the flamboyant and volatile Guy Burgess just days before his defection to Moscow.

This amateur production of “The Maids” is presented by arrangement with Rosica Colin Limited London on behalf of the Author’s Estate, and by arrangement with Judy Daish Associates Ltd and United Agents LLP on behalf of the Translators.

One of Us takes a look at an unexpected and extraordinary set of events that stunned post war Britain.

The Infinite Show Mark Watson

LGS Big Band

Cluster-bombed with yoghurt on ‘Taskmaster’, half-killed on ‘Bear Grylls’ Celebrity Island’, Watson returns to what he’s best at: being indoors. Inspired by the mostly alarming state of the world his children are growing up in, and a genuine, urgent desire to do something about it, this show is about empathy. 99 percent of the world’s population is made up of other people: why can’t we understand them? As scrawny and impassioned as ever, one of the UK’s most beloved and thinnest acts offers some suggestions, with his usual notoriously high joke-and-rant-per-minute rate.

The band returns to this delightful venue for a fifth year to perform much loved favourites from the repertoire. It promises to be a nostalgic and foot-tapping extravaganza including works by Count Basie, Hoagy Carmichael, Stevie Wonder and Glenn Miller.
