Forty Acres Fest announces Magic! as headliner AUSTIN, Texas –The University of Texas’ Texas Traditions Committee selects pop sensation Magic! to headline at the annual Forty Acres Fest. The event will take place on Saturday, March 22. Magic!, a Canadian band, recently released their debut single, “Rude,” from their debut album Don’t Kill the Magic. Soon after the release of the album, it quickly reached No. 5 on the Canadian Albums Chart and No. 6 on the Billboard 200. “ ‘Rude’ is one of my favorite songs and it’s exciting to see a band like Magic! as they’re just breaking it big,” said Kimberly Brown, a University of Texas sophomore. Riders Against the Storm, an Austin based act, will open for Magic! at the Forty Acres Fest this year. Riders Against the storm, a husband and wife duo, won the 2013-2014 Austin Chronicle's Band of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Band awards, making them the first hip hop group to win the Austin Chronicle’s Band of the Year award. Although the concerts have proven to be one of the event’s main attractions, other events allow the student organizations to showcase their creativity and diversity, which the students really enjoy. “It’s one of our best double-bills ever,” said Artie Johnson, entertainment director for Forty Acres Fest. “I’m so proud to be a part of organizing this year’s entertainment.”

The event has a tradition of great musical acts. Past acts have included: Little Richard, Girl Talk, The Roots and Big Boi. The entire event, which begins at noon, is open to the general public. The main stage will feature music and entertainment all day until Riders Against the Storm begin their performance at 7 p.m. Magic! will follow and play until midnight. See the Campus Events and Entertainment website for more information about the event.
