1973 IMB Corporation,
Paul Rand, an amazing designer because of his simple uses of shapes and colors to make really simple and easily recognizable images.
American Broadcasting Company (abc) 1962
Born August 15, 1914 Died November 26, 1996. Paul Rand was well known for designing famous company logos (such as the American Broadcasting Company, ABC, Logo).
The ABC logo is very simple, a plain design consisting of a circle with the letters A, B, and C in an all lowercase rounded font. Anyone will know what it is (anyone who has a television that is). Such a simple logo that goes a long way.
Tipton Lakes Corporation, 1980 United Parcel Service (UPS), 1961 Cummins Engine Company, 1979 Westinghouse Electric Corportation, 1961 Consolidated Cigar Company, 1959 Colorforms, 1959 Helbros Watch Company, 1944
Paul Rand would not have used a ton of details for his work, his brilliance was in his simplistically. The simple uses of colors and shapes were all that Paul Rand would need for his designs.
Some shapes would be more dynamic than others, but most of the time simple geometric shapes were used. The figures that he would create would be entirely made from geometric shapes to make the idea of a figure, rather than being a detailed design of the physical figure.
Broadside, Westvaco Corporation 1964
He would not have complex backgrounds, usually consisting of a single color (usually white or black).
Primary colors were used the most with Paul Rand; Reds, Yellows, and Blues. Along with the primary colors he also work with blacks and whites, though he did also use the other colors (Greens more than any other).
