hands-on designer. As seen in her work on the SVA and Aizone campaigns, she chooses to construct many of her sets and physically building typography. She combines her analog techniques with digital approaches to finesse her playful signature style. Known for her typographic installations and hand drawn type, Walsh allows for her personal projects to feed into client work and vice versa. Walsh says this creates space for exploration and play; freeing her to conquer what may be the largest creative

hurdle — the fear of failure. Walsh’s most recent endeavor in typography is a project with frequent collaborator Timothy Goodman: “Quotes on Shit.” Taking an exuberant analog approach Walsh and Goodman, create humorous and illustrative hand-adorned objects. Their signature eccentric and joyful stamp is applied to found objects by painting them a bold color and inscribing them with quirky phrases breathes a new vibrant life into otherwise abandoned items. Walsh and Goodman hope this offers the items opportunities to find a new home and love.

12 kinds of kindness
alsh’s value of play can be summarized with the following four aspects: freedom to innovate, application of creative constraints, a playful state of mind,w and a personal point of view. 12 Kinds of Kindness is Walsh’s latests personal project exploring these aspects. Since the age of twelve, Walsh has been a creative force using HTML code to customize websites for her Tamagotchi. She describes her work as “bold, emotional and provocative!” With a formidable reputation as a talented and fearless designer, she co-founded the design firm Sagmeister and Walsh in New York City in 2012. A self-described “player,” Walsh uses play as a catalyst for creativity and innovation. Creative play is a crucial state of mind for Walsh. It is in this ideal state that she is able to take chances, experiment and innovate.
