August 11-13, 2006 • Lafayette, La.
Welcome to MechaCon 2.0! MechaCon is an original concept in the anime convention arena. Bridging the genres of Anime and Transformers with Japanese cultural exhibits, panels and presentations, MechaCon remains the only convention of its kind anywhere in the world. With the support of many prominent names in the anime industry, our 2005 MechaCon proved itself to be an incredible convention experience for fans of all ages. We intend to repeat the success of last year’s event and even surpass it with MechaCon 2.0! This year, MechaCon is proud to be an official stop on Harmony Gold’s ROBOTECH Convention Tour 2006. As part of this tour, MechaCon has the distinct honor of hosting a special Charity Screening of the brand-new, fulllength feature film “ROBOTECH: The Shadow Chronicles”! MechaCon will be the ONLY North American convention in 2006 to screen this long-anticipated sequel to the ROBOTECH series. One hundred percent of ticket sales for this special Charity Screening will be donated to the Salvation Army for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita restoration work. Aside from our Robotech content, attendees can find something for everyone. Whether enjoying our multiple viewing rooms, cultural and anime panels, extensive dealers room, electronic gaming room, non-electronic gaming rooms and tournaments, cosplay competition, karaoke contest, AMV contest, Lisa Furukawa Ray - Live in Concert, the World Premiere of My Little Transformer’s Prime Passion 2: Total Recall, our charity auction to benefit Faith House, our Beast Wars 10th Anniversary Celebration or any of the many other sights and sounds of MechaCon, we know you’ll be pleased in what we have to offer. Please enjoy our sophomore event and we hope to see you again in 2007! – Team MechaCon

A Word from the Sennin “I want to bring my grandkids to MechaCon.” - James Potter These words have been a driving force in insuring MechaCon 2.0 and every MechaCon hereafter becomes a reality. As attendees of last year’s MechaCon remember well, Hurricane Katrina made its approach on our convention weekend... reaching landfall only hours after the event concluded. While the Lafayette area met with little more than increased winds and rain, our friends and family to the east felt the full fury and devastation of Katrina and, as the world knows, the aftermath which led to the complete evacuation of the city of New Orleans. For us, MechaCon was only the beginning of that long period. Many of our convention attendees found themselves stranded in Lafayette. We were committed to helping our friends in any way we could. The Lafayette Hilton was gracious enough to have the foresight of giving our attendees the option of extending their stays if they needed, since all other hotel properties between New Orleans and Houston were booked solid with the refugees of the Hurricane’s impact area. In this tragic period, strong friendships were strengthened further and new friendships were forged. Everyone treated one another as if we were all part of the same large family, helping each other in every way we could. We dedicated ourselves to insuring that our younger attendees who had joined us amongst their friends were reunited with their parents and to helping others, once hotel room funds began to dwindle. Less than a month later, Hurricane Rita came ashore, this time even closer to home. This trying period led us to question the wisdom of holding another convention in south Louisiana in the midst of hurricane season. We came to realize, in debating the future of MechaCon, that part of the healing and rebuilding process is to re-establish normalcy as best as we can. It was during one of these meetings that we were further encouraged to continue by words spoken by our Non-electronic Gaming Coordinator James Potter, “I want to bring my grandkids to MechaCon.” That sentiment hit home. Certainly, the road ahead could be very difficult and risky, but the joy to be seen on the faces of those who will come through our doors year after year makes it all worth it. This is an endeavor well worth continuing. An endeavor which should last for years to come. In this realization, MechaCon 2.0 became set in stone. Thus, we immediately began planning our 2006 event. In the last year, we reviewed the performance of the staff and operations of MechaCon’s 2005 event and came to realize we were fortunate enough to have one hell of a team working with us. The sheer dedication of our staff members has been mesmerizing. We effectively doubled our staff in our efforts to continually raise the bar and make MechaCon an even more spectacular event. The heart and soul each of our staff members has poured into this event has made us feel fortunate to be a part of this incredible family. With all our heart, we thank them for all they do and have done for MechaCon. As with any endeavor, there have been stumbling blocks along the way, but nothing that could keep us down. We are a family and we operate as one. We are there for each other “to light our darkest hours”, as it were. Giving the attendees an unforgettable convention experience has always been our top priority and, despite any obstacle, that is a commitment we will never forget. We do it all for you... and we’ll continue to be happy to do it each and every year... for years to come. Having said all that, please enjoy MechaCon 2.0!

Footnotes Organizer’s Plea
Please be on your best behavior and respect hotel property. We ask that you treat the Hilton as your home away from home. If you deface hotel property in any way, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Attendees of some other Anime Conventions in the past have been less than respectful to the convention facilities and hotel, and this type of behavior has given Anime Conventions a bad name. Please do your part to help change that stigma and show that anime conventions can be classy, too. The continued success of this convention is crucial to whether or not there will be future MechaCons. We sincerely appreciate you doing your part to help ensure that the hotel, convention facilities and your fellow attendees are treated with the utmost respect!
Special Charity Screening
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck within one month of each other, sweeping across the Gulf Coast. The devastation caused by these two natural disasters dramatically altered entire communities as well as the lives of countless families and individuals. In the wakes of these tragedies, people around the world generously stepped forward in an outpouring of support for the recovery effort. Yet, after nearly one year, there is still much work left to be done. To further assist in the re-building of communities along the Gulf Coast, HARMONY GOLD has selected MechaCon to host a special Charity Screening of the full-length, feature film “ROBOTECH: The Shadow Chronicles”. MechaCon will be the ONLY North American convention in 2006 to screen this long-anticipated sequel to the ROBOTECH series. Seating is limited and tickets for Saturday’s charity screening are on sale at the MechaCon registration desk on a first-come-first-serve basis. Anyone attending this charity screeing must be a registered MechaCon 2006 attendee. NonMechaCon registrants are not allowed to purchase tickets for this event. Admission is eight dollars ($8) USD for adults and four dollars ($4) USD for children 12 and under. Only one ticket per MechaCon 2006 registrant may be purchased. One hundred percent of ticket sales for this special Charity Screening will be donated to the Salvation Army for Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita restoration work. With MechaCon being a stop on the Robotech Convention Tour 2006, ROBOTECH fans will be treated to the latest news, industry info, and goodies from Harmony Gold. As a part of this tour, MechaCon is privileged to welcome Operations Coordinator Kevin McKeever to our event as an honored Industry Guest.

DEMON HUNTER$ From Battlefield Press:
Jonathan Thompson, head of Battlefield Press, will be running DEMON HUNTER$ for Unisystem, a campaign that he wrote specifically for Mechacon 2.0. Its 1928 and it’s a time of prosperity. Charity Auction At our inaugural MechaCon in 2005, we were very proud to have held a charity auction to benefit Faith House, a shelter for abused women and children here in Lafayette, LA. The strong show of support at the auction really helped to show the anime community’s spirit of caring and concern toward those whose lives have been torn apart by domestic violence. Considering the nature of the service Faith House provides, we felt it was our duty as decent human beings to help them out as much as we possibly could. This is why we need the continued support of the anime community and industry… we simply cannot do it alone. MechaCon is honored to proclaim, since its inception, that the anime community and industry has been dedicated to helping the abused women and children in our community. This auction was our way of showing how much we care… how much the anime fans of tomorrow mean to us. We’d like to thank each and every person who braved the oncoming Hurricane Katrina to join us and those who bid on one or more of our unique auction items. With your support, we raised $1,579.00 for Faith House at our 2005 auction! This year, we are proud to continue this new tradition of helping those in need. Please join us at the MechaCon 2.0 Charity Auction and bid frequently and generously. Once again, we’ve gathered a variety of unique and hard-to-find items for this event... some of which you will never find anywhere else... especially if you are a die-hard fan of Transformers: Beast Wars. Our sincerest thanks go to Mainframe Entertainment for their incredibly generous donations to our auction and for their support of Faith House. Kimono Export’s generous donations as well as the generous donations from our good friend Peter Payne of J-List are sure to appeal to those seeking hard-to find apparel, ADV Films and Funimation continue to show their support with items that are sure to appeal to even the most casual of anime fans, and plushie fans won’t want to miss the contribution of Misty Gisele Lopez, as she created (specifically for this event) homemade plushies of MechaCon’s very own mascots, Jett and Zee! With all this, as well as as-yet-unannounced items, it’s easy to see why this auction is a can’t-miss event!

MechaCon Policies MechaCon’s Intent
The primary purpose of MechaCon is to provide a fun and safe experience for as wide range of attendees as possible. Our intention is to bring a balance of Japanese traditional and pop culture to Louisiana through Anime and Transformers appreciation. The ratings of programming available at the convention vary. Due to differences in international rating structures, some adult situations may occur in some titles. Whenever possible, we have indicated these shows on the programming schedule to aid in our patrons viewing choices, but parental guidance is ALWAYS recommended.
Hotel Staff and MechaCon
Please remember that you are a guest of the hotel, and that there are other guests utilizing the same facilities. Please remember to be courteous and do not disturb other guests with excessive noise levels. If the hotel staff requests that you quiet down or stop a certain behavior, please do so. If you do not, your badge will be confiscated. We are all here to have a good time, so by acting responsibly, we can continue to bring events such as an Anime convention to Lafayette.
Rules of Conduct
At the time of registration packet pick-up, attendees received a MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook which outlines MechaCon’s Rules of Conduct, Security Policy, Weapons Policy and other information attendees need to be familiar with while attending MechaCon. Please read this handbook carefully immediately after receiving it. If you somehow did not receive a MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook, please go to our Registration Desk or Convention Operations Desk to obtain a copy.
Hands-off Policy MechaCon has a strict hands-off policy regarding its mascots, staff and attendees. An extension of MechaCon’s Rules of Conduct, which can be found in your MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook, our hands-off policy basically means that no attendee is to make physical contact with any member of the MechaCon staff, Hilton staff or other convention attendees without first getting permission from the person you wish to make physical contact with. This includes, but is not limited to, unwarranted “glomping”, touching, embracing, or hanging-on. All attendees are expected to become familiar with the policies outlined in the MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook the attendee received with their registration packet.
Interior.indd 22
Security Policy
MechaCon Security is based on a “three strikes” rule. Please refer to your MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook for a detailed outline of MechaCon’s Security Policy. MechaCon Security reserves the right to revoke MechaCon Attendee membership and eject anyone at any time from the convention without a refund.
Weapons Policy
Items that could be used as a weapon MUST be Peace-Bonded. Please refer to your MechaCon Pocket Policies handbook for a detailed outline of MechaCon’s Security Policy.
