Lrdg colours

Pedro, do not believe everything you read on the Internet if not backed up by primary research! I stick to my guns, there was no blue colour paint ordered by the British Army in the North African campaign, there is also no mention of the colour Light Blue in any of the Colours & Markings Orders i.e. MEGO's, MTP’s or GRO's for the period 1940 to 1945 in North Africa. Believe me I have most of them after visiting the NA in Kew (UK), from Shane Lowell in Australia and also an extensive collection in the SA Mil Archives, I have also had extensive conversations with Mike Starmer in the UK about the subject. I have been able to trace and document the camouflage history to a large extent. 19 Pages in a timeline format.

These profiles in your link is a product of the interpretation of the author's imagination and cannot be backed up by any MEGO, GRO or stores request for Light Blue paint. My interpretation is that of White, Portlandstone or Lightstone and Light Purple Brown. Light Purple Brown was a colour issued for use in the Sudan (1941/2) and as such would have suited the LRDG more in the terrain of Southern Libya. I have also included a photo a modern day restored carrier in those possible colours.

Look what happens when you convert to Greyscale. There is just not enough contrast between these colours!

This is what was prescribed:

In 1942 the basic colour was changed to Desert Pink! This was also a possibility:
