Heather Mentz, on the right in the photo at left, Lee-Davis High School valedictorian, was joined by Nutzy and Grayson Parker at a recent Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game. Tyler Weiglein, photo at right, salutatorian, praises his experiences as a member of the L-DHS band. Hanover County Public Schools’ honor students were asked to provide a favorite photo to accompany the profiles.

The IB Diploma candidate said the program “has definitely helped with school work and managing my time.” Heather will be attending Ferman University in South Carolina, majoring in vocal performance, with a goal of becoming an opera singer. Heather said her experience at LeeDavis includes “great people. Students and teachers really care about what they’re doing.” She also praised the support of the choral instructor, Jennifer Breeden. Salutatorian Tyler Weiglein leaves Lee-Davis with a 4.69 GPA.

He is the son of Lance and Jane Weiglein of Mechanicsville. A trombonist, Tyler is a member of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pep Band and Indoor Percussion Ensemble. He is a teacher’s aide for the band director for the Concert Band class. He also is a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society. The second grade teacher at Henry Clay Elementary School made history as the first teacher to also have held the title of Beginning Teacher of the Year (2004).
