A

nna Jane Glascock, with a grade point average of 4.69, is the valedictorian for the 2012 Class at Lee-Davis High School. Salutatorian is Bethany Pursel, who graduates with a 4.69 GPA. The daughter of Jeanya and Mat Wylie of Mechanicsville, Anna is a member the International Baccalaureate Diploma program. She also is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, French Club, Young Democrats Club and gymnastics team. She plays the cello in the L-DHS Orchestra. Anna was a cheerleader her freshman and sophomore years at Lee-Davis.

In the community, she is involved with Miracles in Motion, a dance program for children with disabilities. She also is part of a competitive dance company at the Ann

Catherine Cross School of Dance. In the fall, she will be attending VCUarts and will double major in dance and choreography and biol-

ogy, with a focus in physical therapy. As she prepares to graduate, Anna said, “I just want to say that, without the support of my parents and friends and my dance teachers, I would have never been able to stay focused and achieve such a major accomplishment. Also, the IB faculty at Lee-Davis High School has been amazing and has had such a huge influence on my life. Best wishes to all of the teachers and to the Class of 2012 as we begin a whole new chapter in our lives.” Bethany, the daughter of Matthew and Wendy Pursel of Mechanicsville, is the cofounder of the Lee-Davis Prayer Club. She is a member of the Wind Ensemble and serves as alto saxophone section leader. Her musical

Sabrina Maters Markham loved being a mom to Aiden, 7, and Heath, 3, her family told The Local. The 30-year-old died in what has been called a domestic incident on June 2. Her estranged husband faces charges.

The boys, 7 and 3, lost their mother on Saturday, June 2, to what has been determined as an act of domestic violence. The 30-year-old died as the result of gunshot wounds; the accused is her estranged husband Ryan P. Markharm, 33, of the 7400 block of Colts Neck Road in Mechanicsville. The incident took place in the 8200 block of Candleberry Drive in Mechanicsville. Last week, Sabrina’s brother,
