announced the system had achieved a 95 percent on-time graduation rate for 2010. It also was recognized as being the highest among the largest school districts in the state (15,000-plus); highest in the metro Richmond area; and third in the state (behind
Clarke County and Falls Church, respectively). Hanover’s 2010 cohort dropout rate came in at 2.2 percent (lowest among the largest school districts in the state (15,000-plus); lowest in the metro Richmond area; and third lowest in the entire

Erin Beard made history with the Hanover County Public Schools in the spring by becoming the first teacher to claim the honors of 2005 Beginning Teacher of the Year and 2011 Teacher of the Year. A second grade teacher at Henry Clay Elementary School in Ashland, Erin was surprised by Dr. Stewart D. Roberson, superintendent, and her principal, Teresa Keck, on June 7.
