Sheriff: Remove valuables, lock vehicles Photos submitted by Sgt. James R. Cooper
Among the areas that have been targeted by thieves are Castlewood and Kingswood Court.
By Melody Kinser Managing Editor HANOVER – Don’t leave valuables inside your vehicle and don’t leave the doors unlocked. That’s the straightforward advice being offered by Col.
David R. Hines of the Hanover County Sheriff ’s Office. “In 2016, we had 160 larcenies from autos reported,” Sgt. James R. Cooper, public information officer for the HCSO said. “So far this year, we’ve had 85 larcenies from autos. Of
those 85, 14 of those vehicles had their windows smashed. The rest were unlocked.” He called the act “a crime of opportunity.” Cooper encourages residents to remove their valuables from their vehicles and lock the vehicles “even
when they’re at your house.” A deterrent to would-be thieves is the installation of motion sensors or motionactivated lights. “If you park your vehicle in your garage, lock your garage door and lock your vehicle in
your garage,” Cooper added. He said the sensors and lights are “especially important over the garage and where you park your vehicle.” “The Sheriff ’s Office is very thankful for our community see VEHICLES, pg. 4
Communities and law enforcement join to celebrate National Night Out By Melody Kinser Managing Editor HANOVER – National Night Out is all about community and that’s just one of the reasons Col. David R. Hines, sheriff of Hanover County, enjoys the annual event. Sgt. James R. Cooper, public information officer for the Hanover County Sheriff ’s Office, said, “This is something that the sheriff looks forward to every year because the community is coming together and celebrating partnerships with law enforcement as well as taking a stance against crime.”
The 2017 National Night Out will kick off at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Target on Bell Creek Road in
Mechanicsville. “We’ll have lots of nonprofit groups there with games, free food, a Medevac helicopter, and Sheriff ’s Office child safety seat inspections and child fingerprint ID. Hanover Fire-EMS will have a smokehouse,” Cooper said. A smokehouse is a mobile unit to help in teaching about fire safety. Fires are simulated to show what to do in the event of an incident in a residence. File photo Cooper said the Target kickoff, which will wrap up at 2 p.m., always boasts a Col. David R. to remove all valuables and lock their vehicles. Simply doing this can greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim to this crime of opportunity.” On Friday, July 14, Cooper
said day shift officers responded to a neighborhood in the central part of the county for a report of 17 vehicles that were entered. Sixteen of them were unlocked and the other had a window broken to gain
access. “From that same neighborhood, a vehicle was stolen that was left unlocked and had a valet key in the console,” the sergeant said. He said a valet key is
an extra key for the vehicle with limited functions; it can turn the vehicle on and off and it can be used for locking and unlocking the driver’s door. Cooper urges residents to
heed the sheriff ’s advice by removing valuables and locking their vehicles. “It’s a crime of opportunity and it seems the criminals have been stealing electronics and even loose change,” he said.
community and that’s what keeps our crime rate low,” he said. “I believe we have such a great turnout in Hanover because we have such a connected community,” Cooper said.
Communities are so invested in National Night Out that Hanover County ranked 14th in the nation for communities of a similar size. When Cooper first announced National Night Out was approaching, he
described it as “an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners.”
“The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and, most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back,” he said. “It’s also the perfect oppor-
tunity to get to know your neighbors even better,” Cooper said. Col. Hines will be joined by deputies in visiting numerous neighborhoods throughout the county. He will start his day with the kickoff at Target.

extracurricular activities. Typical morning classes may include history, literary topics, art history, and current civilization as well as language courses such as grammar or phonetics. Immersion students are generally introduced to a third, less commonly taught language as one of their classes, and Latin students are introduced to ancient Greek. Additional activities may include seminars, intra- and inter-Academy competitions, cultural simulations, field trips, sports, and social activities. Evening and weekend activities that are integral to the goals of the program include recreation, special events such as concerts or plays, lectures by visiting scholars, movies, and student performances.

Did the skirt or dress hem touch the floor?
Thanks given to delegate for flags
By Melody Kinser Managing Editor As the old saying goes, “I don’t have a dog in that fight.” The fight here being the new dress code implemented by Hanover County Public Schools. I don’t have children or grandchildren in the school system, so the attire mandated by school officials didn’t catch my attention other than including the article from the public information office about the change with the upcoming new school year. Parents and students addressed the Hanover County School Board at a recent meeting to express their opinions about the dress issue and they were adamantly against it. So, let’s go back a few decades. Believe it or not, when I started junior high school (back in the old
days before middle school — we had grades 7 to 9), girls could not wear slacks until my freshman year. The only acceptable slacks then were pants suits (think Hillary Clinton’s campaign preference). Jeans were out of the question. Anyway, the school counselor — who wasn’t a particularly pleasant woman, but her husband held a high position in the school division’s central office, which is code for she had job security — would periodically call girls into her office to check the length of their skirts or dresses. To satisfy her, the hem of the skirt or dress had to touch the floor to pass her test. I remember getting my turn when I was in the 8th grade. At 13, I hardly thought a skirt at the knee would be scandalous. Surprisingly, I passed and she never checked my attire again. By the time I got to high school, the dress code
was history. If memory serves me correctly, jeans, jerseys and leftovers from the hippie movement were popular. Bell bottom hip-huggers with macrame belts and body suits were popular. That seems so funny now as the looks of the 1960s and ’70s have returned. But, what about the clothing young women choose to wear in school today? Too low at the top and too high at the bottom could be issues, but I’ve seen enough young men’s underwear to last a life-time with pants hanging too far from the waist. Making a statement is fine. Be yourself — but sometimes, especially in the confines of academia, discretion can be a powerful tool. And, the school board plans to revisit the dress code. So, stay tuned . . .
Fake wedding was highlight of summer social at Cutshaw Place By Jim Ridolphi Contributing Columnist It didn’t seem funny at the time, but looking back on the part of our childhood we can still remember gains a new brand of humor as the years pass. For example, I didn’t think it unusual at all when my sister at about age 8 was involved in the first neighborhood fake wedding. Now, in those days, fake weddings were a regular occurrence as the days
of summer became increasingly difficult to fill and the popsicle truck only came once a day. As I remember, my sister wore moccasins, shorts and a halter, topped off with an old veiled hat that belonged to my mother. The bride held a doll in her arms, the implications of the symbolism oblivious to her at the time. Her husband to be, Bobby Tinder, wore cowboy boots and khaki shorts, but opted for a shirtless Tarzan type

look that seemed to work with the onlookers. I didn’t know that much about my fantasy future brother-in-law except the tidbits of information I’d heard from my friends in the neighborhood. Since Bobby was older and had actually hit kids, we spoke in whispers when referencing his name. But, the word was out. He had a nasty reputation for eating Milk Bone dog biscuits, not on a dare but as a regular treat.
Seems he had a taste for the hard-asa-rock doggy treats. Now, just the name Bobby Tinder makes me laugh but not as much as the mention of another neighbor of ours. His name was Jinx Melhorn. I never could figure out why parents would name their kid Jinx and maybe his didn’t, but that’s the way they introduced him to me and other kids in the neighborhood. see WEDDING, pg. 8

Shortly before July 4th, Del. Chris Peace installed American flags throughout our neighborhood. These little bundles of red, white and blue planted beside our mailboxes adorned street after street. This wonderful display of national pride brightened more than a single day of celebration. It is a reminder to all of us that we are indeed Americans; that we enjoy rights, privileges, and obligations of freedom. It is too a reminder that celebration is a whole lot better than lament. Thank you, Del. Peace, for bringing a moment of joy, beauty and remembrance. David Fuller Mechanicsville
Resident isn’t happy with development I am sure every Hanover County citizen is aware the Hanover County Comprehensive Plan for Development is up for a revision and renewal this year. The Commonwealth of Virginia requires all municipalities to have a Comprehensive Plan for Development. Virginia gives each municipality wide latitude in forming and implementing a local Comprehensive Plan. Here in Hanover County we have an important issue. While the Hanover County Board of Supervisors (HCBOS) has control of development, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has control of our roads. Our board of supervisors has little or no control of our roads. Members of our board of supervisors know very well they have little or see LETTERS, pg. 8

no control over roads. This has not stopped them from approving development after development with no regard for infrastructure. They have already approved enough development to have a 1% growth rate for the next eight years. They have ignored the fact that road work will be 15 years behind. This much is clear. The revised Comprehensive Plan must contain a very strong requirement that infrastructure such as roads be in place before any development is approved.

High standards should be met in our schools I read with interest the article about parents and students speaking before the Hanover County School Board Tuesday night (July 11, 2017). Seems that parents and daughters are upset because female students have to wear a “cover over” when wearing yoga pants, leggings or tights. Asking stu-
dents to dress “in good taste” is certainly reasonable. How a student appears on the outside says a lot as how he or she appears on the inside. Students are in a very critical learning stage and asking them to begin developing a high opinion of themselves is very vital. Our schools teach far more than just academia. Schools try to instill a desire to respect other, develop character, and prepare for the “unknown” in the future. The Hanover County Public Schools system has always been the standard that other school systems seek to emulate.
Yes, keep the bar high and our students, parents and citizens will thank you for it. Dan Johnson Montpelier
I am a rising sophomore at Atlee High School and I believe the new changes to the Hanover County Public Schools dress code are ludicrous. Yoga pants and leggings are worn by girls because they are comfortable and not meant to
be sexual. Girls should not have to cover their shoulders and their collarbone. Banning previously acceptable clothing and making them cover themselves up will only further sexualize the female body. From a male perspective, the things I listed above are not inappropriate or “distracting” me from learning. And, if it is distracting some students, then the Hanover County School Board should take a different approach instead of punishing my friends and classmates. Alex Maria Mechanicsville

Jinx wore them proudly and never lamented that he never owned a pair of tennis shoes. I couldn’t figure out what was going on at Jinx’s house, and the parents were rarely seen, mostly only when the door slightly cracked and one of them summoned Jinx to come home.
My father said they seemed like New Yorkers. At the time, I had no idea what that meant, and, today, I’m not any clearer on that descriptor . . . but they were what we were referred to as weird. Yes, those lazy days of summer provided us with a lifetime

for folks to spend Sunday afternoons, while the Fourth Friday events offer an opportunity to wind down at the end of the month. “It was important to me that these events be free and to make sure everyone knew that they were welcome, and then I had to figure out how to pay for it – so the idea was to go and find business sponsors . . . and I got a lot of positive response,” Brill said. “The next step was booking bands – I decided on a mix of [music styles] to draw in a younger crowd; my kids are 27 and 30, so I was just
thinking about what kinds of music they listened to when they were growing up.” The main types of music performed during the concert series are ’90s alternative rock, jazz, funk and Motown. “I wanted it to be a diverse crowd so I thought Motown would be something different,” he said. The Motown genre is a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence. Brill said the idea to have a community event in town on the fourth Friday of every month was a conversation that started about three years ago. “There were a number of

SHLAND – At 3 p.m. every Wednesday, the Gathering Place, formerly Ashland Coffee and Tea, hosts the “AHA Moment,” which is sponsored by At Home in Ashland (AHA). At Home in Ashland is a tax-exempt
nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting seniors wishing to remain in their homes as they age. The informal get-togethers are open to any interested Ashland area senior and provide an opportunity to make personal connections and discuss topics of mutual interest. No registration is needed.
For seniors who are still employed, AHA also has arranged for evening gatherings at 6 p.m. every fourth Tuesday at Trackside Grill. This event does require advance registration before noon on the fourth Monday. The contact person is Carol Dedischew: 804-299-3171 or cdedischew@aol.com.
businesses that were interested in doing a town-wide event [each month],” Brill said. He said he met with business leaders; Nora Amos, Ashland’s planning and community development director; and Ashland Police Chief Douglas Goodman. “So I suggested doing some sort of fourth Friday type of event – there was a lot of interest in that,” he said, explaining how everyone then cooperated in coordinating the logistics necessary to plan a town-wide event. Brill also received a small grant from the Town of Ashland to help him facilitate
small events in the community, most of which funds the stage, tent and trailer that are needed to operate successfully. “Basically, I was in need of a stage for the events, and I have part of a stage built in my studio,” Brill said. Instead of having to build extra stage pieces to his studio’s stage, he “noticed that there was some money in the town’s special events policy, and I inquired about how to apply for it. It turns out that money was getting ready to expire at the end of June.” Once it expired, the money was not set to be included in see CURTAIN, pg. 16

Residential development put on hold By Logan Barry for The Mechanicsville Local

ASHLAND — Plans to construct a 148-house residential development on 52 acres of land located at the Town of Ashland’s western “gateway” on U.S. 54 (Thompson Street) were put on hold Tuesday, July 18, by Ashland Town Council. After a lengthy public hearing, council voted to defer action on an application to rezone the property that is being proposed for development by the owner, Yancey Jones, to take more time for EOE a road design to be planned and to examine further details in the efforts of improving the development. The applicant has dubbed the potential residential development’s name as “LauraDell.”

A sign is posted designating a notice of zoning action pending on a proposal development known as “LauraDell.”
On June 14, the Ashland Planning Commission voted 4-1 to recommend approval of the rezoning application under the condition that certain proffers received at that meeting be
met, which deal with improving Thompson Street or West Vaughan Road. The vote in opposition to the recommendation of approval, which was made by

Brill said he was motivated to do something “that would bring the community together.” Summer Breeze and Fourth Fridays in Ashland are the first music-related events he has organized. “I just like watching the neighbors walking by; it’s just a very diverse mix of people.” “I’ve actually been thinking

the next year’s budget. After Brill’s inquiry, the town issued a request for proposals to be submitted for the grant, which was designated solely for the funding of special events. His proposal “included a stage, a trailer to store the stage in and a tent. I wound up getting the funding for that and was able to buy a trailer, which made setting up the live events a whole lot easier. I have the tent, and I’ve got to finish setting up the stage.” Brill said the equipment

Commissioner Charles Selden, had concerns about West Vaughan Road. “The one dissenting vote had some concerns with [this road’s] completion; he wanted to know when the other portion would be completed to finish that connection,” said Planning and Community Development Director Nora Amos during the July 18 council public hearing. While town staff had originally planned to recommended approval of the proposal, the applicant requested that it be deferred. Staff agreed with that request. “Some items have come up in talking about Vaughan Road being extended and the designs as well as conversasee RESIDENTIAL, pg. 17

tions with the Department of Public Utilities about [a] pump station, and so while we feel the application is pretty much there as far as meeting comprehensive plan requirements, we would like additional time to work those issues out with the applicant and the county,” Amos said. William Shewmake, an attorney with the law firm LeClairRyan who was representing Jones in the project, said, “I first want to compliment the staff and all their hard work with us; a lot of time, care and energy has been put into this. The Jones’ love this community, and they loved it so much that they stepped up and bought the property.” He said they are trying to design something that they and the community can be proud. John Berry, an Ashland resident who lives in the Carters Hill neighborhood, outlined
his concerns with the proposal. One particular concern was with “Vaughan Road extended, which will cut through Carters Hill, it will sever the neighborhood – and there’s also in the plans – an attempt to extend Carter Forest Drive, which also goes through Carters Hill,” Berry said. Berry talked about how his family moved to the area from Midlothian to escape a very busy subdivision, explaining how Carters Hill served as the perfect area as it was quiet and a place for children to play. “When you cut the roads through, it’s going to completely destroy the safety and the security that people have living in that neighborhood. It almost appears to me that to provide access for this new neighborhood, we’re in effect going to be destroying an existing neighborhood – and that’s a great concern to me,” he said. Another resident who spoke at the hearing was Betsy
Dabney, who lives directly across from the proposed zoning area on Chapman Street. She expressed her concern with the density. “I think it is too many homes for what the traffic can handle. I was looking through previous years of traffic studies … I still question the validity of those studies saying that it’s not going to impact us that much,” Dabney said. “It doesn’t take a traffic study to tell that traffic through Ashland is really bad right now.” Action was referred unanimously for the rezoning proposal, and the public hearing was continued to remain open until the Sept. 5 council session. The July 18 regular meeting was Vice Mayor James Murray’s last on council, as he resigned his term to attend law school in North Carolina. Mayor James Foley explained how this was a “little personal for him.”
“I was on council from 2010-2014 – [needing to step back from work,] I heard about this young man who wanted to fill my shoes. James came in and took over my spot and did a great job; we’ve been pleased to have him,” Foley said. Murray said before he joined council he didn’t know if he liked the town that much. “It’s a true story,” Murray said, explaining that, once he started his role with the town, “I quickly realized that it is nearly impossible not to fall in love with Ashland.” “So much of my life has been involved around the ‘Center of The Universe’: I graduated from Randolph-Macon College, bought a house, got a dog, and made friends that I expect to stay in touch with for my whole life. Most importantly, I met my wife and got married in Ashland. Even as we prepare to leave, Ashland will always remain a true core of who we are.”

Atlee wins Va. title with help from a friend By Dave Lawrence Sports Editor “Just won” “Omg” The two texts, from Atlee Little League Junior softball coach Chris Mardigian, carried an impressive bit of news: her girls and won the Little League Junior Softball Southeast Regional in Salisbury, North Carolina, Sunday. The group of girls, who have won four Virginia state championships in three age groups over the past five years, had earned their first trip to a Little League World Series with the win, a 7-0 shutout of Moorefield, West Virginia. Atlee now heads to the Little League Junior Softball World
Series, which begins Sunday at Everest Park in Kirkland, Washington. The team will play the Asia-Pacific Champion at 5:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The regional championship ends years of frustration for the team, Mardigian said. “They are thrilled. It was a big deal for them,” she said. “We’ve come so close so many times.” One of those times was last year, when they fell in the Southeast Regional title game. Atlee defeated a team from Mooresburg Bean Station, Tennessee, 20-1 Friday, then knocked off a team from Tampa Bay, Bayshore and Keystone, see ATLEE, pg. 25

COLONIAL HEIGHTS – Mechanicville Post 175’s bats fizzled when the team most needed them: runners in scoring position in a 9-5 loss to Lakeside Post 125 in an American Legion District 11 losers bracket final at Shepherd Stadium Thursday night. The loss was a disappointing end to a season in which Post 175 had lost to just one district team, South Richmond Post 137
– including a 9-5 loss Tuesday to Post 137 Tuesday that sent Mechanicsville into the loser’s bracket of the double elimination tournament. Post 175 stranded nine runners, five in scoring position. Two of its innings ended in double plays. A third double play strangled a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning when Mechanicsville appeared poised for a comeback. “It’s a tough loss, especially with this group of kids,” said Post 175 manager Brandon
Powers. “They’re great. They’re really positive … upbeat. It’s hard to have to end a season like that.” Post 175 closed to within a run, 6-5, of Post 137 in the top of the eighth inning of the winners bracket final at Douglas Freeman High School Tuesday, but it could not keep South Richmond’s batters at bay. Post 137 scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and Post 137 ace Grant Squyars retired the side in the top of the ninth to sweep Post 175 for the season.

GRAL teams end regular season; ready for Champs By Dave Lawrence Sports Editor ASHLAND – Storm delays last Tuesday could not quell the rush of the area’s Greater Richmond Aquatic League swim teams in their effort to qualify as many swimmers as possible for the league’s Champs meet at SwimRVA (the Collegiate School Aquatic Center) this weekend. The two-day meet features swimmers 12-and-under on Saturday and swimmers 13and-over on Sunday. Swim action begins at 9 a.m. both days. In the regular season-ending meets, many teams were successful in getting more swimmers qualified for Champs. Bigger numbers give coaches more options for Champs. “We got probably seven or eight more qualified – younger ones – which has enabled us to

do more relays,” said Burkwood head coach Karen Seeber. “Relays are going to be the key, because, even if we stack our four fastest kids, they wouldn’t necessarily be competitive in that event. So what we’ve done is kind of spread them out, which enables us to have more
scoring relays.” Ashland, which hosted Burkwood in their regular season-ending meet, got two more swimmers qualified for Champs, said head coach Kevin Trent. The Barracudas’ Champs squad will be heavily weighted toward the 13-and-over age
group. Trent’s biggest challenge is that some of his swimmers – Paul Datovech, Samantha Senfield, Andrew Senfield and Thomas Senfield – have qualified in every event, but GRAL rules limits the number of events they can compete in at
Champs. “We’ve got our fair share of kids who filled out their plates,” Trent said. “That makes picking their events much more difficult, obviously.” Even at this point in the season, every team has room for surprises, as Trent found out
last week. “Oliver Mudd broke a 14year-old team record in 9-10 boys last week,” Trent said. “That was a surprise. I don’t think anyone saw that coming.” Dave Lawrence can be reached at dlawrence@mechlocal.com.
the game was interrupted by a lightning delay. The Virginia champions had to wait through two more storm delays before finishing off Moorefield for the regional title. “Our girls never got real tight. They stayed loose,” said Atlee manager Scott Currie. He said their prior experience helped them. “We’ve been here a couple
of times over the last few years,” he said. “A lot of these girls have been in these situations before. I know they were in the championship game last year and lost. They didn’t want to do that again. But they weren’t tense. They were loose and they just went out and played hard.” Leslie Currie earned a complete-game victory for Atlee, holding Moorefield to just six
hits. She also led a supercharged offense, going 3-for-3 for one run and three RBI. Reagan Hill went 2-of-2 for two runs scored. Kelly Ayer, Julia Mardigian and Jessica Russell each went 2-for-4 with one RBI apiece; Ayer and Mardigian each scored a pair of runs. The coaches don’t anticipate any major changes in what they do in the days before they leave
for Washington. “We’re going to keep practicing this week and just keep going through the routine,” Currie said. “Getting their swings in, catching their ground balls, catching their fly balls.” Coach John Mardigian added another important item, at least for the coaches and parents. “Getting their laundry,” he
said. While the girls were aware on some level what they achieved, the full impact of their accomplishment may not hit them until later. “When they wake up tomorrow, it’s going to be pretty big,” Currie said. Dave Lawrence can be reached at dlawrence@mechlocal.com.

S & S Painting, LLC voted 2017 Local’s Choice S & S Painting Chosen Again “I always want customers to be pleased with our work, but I’ve also discovered that some of our repeat customers choose us again not only because of our professionalism and skill but also because of the joyous nature that my employees bring into their homes while working,” stated Stacey Spear, director of S & S Painting, LLC. “A painting project can be a very disruptive event in your day to day life. Countless times, homeowners comment that the S & S crews are upbeat whether the daily task involves sanding a drywall repair, painting kitchen cabinets, or removing wallpaper. At S & S Painting, we want our time in their home to be a pleasant experience, and we find joy in helping the customer turn a house into a home. Our team is a fun mix of hardworking sisters, mothers, and friends. Instead of whistling while we work, we laugh.”
573943-01
In 2004, Stacey Spear began this painting journey because she desired more time at home with her elementary aged sons but still wanted to work. Stacey left her banking career, and S & S Painting, LLC of Mechanicsville, Virginia, was born. Stacey and her crew have been spreading joy through painting ever since. In the begin-

ning, Stacey and her partner Shannon tackled small painting projects—one or two rooms. Shannon moved, and Stacey partnered with another mom and friend, Valerie. Most of the customers were members of Stacey’s church home, Shady Grove United Methodist, but as word of mouth spread of their skill, strong work ethic, and friendliness, customers started wanting them in the Fan, Bon Air, and Short Pump. So, in 2009, Stacey and Valerie realized growth necessitated change; S & S hired its first employee. Today, S & S employs an office manager and six painters. Like Stacey, some of these women wanted to work but still be home with their children when school was not in session. Stacey’s business model allows other women to accomplish their goals. Stacey no longer operates out of her blue Yukon; the company now has two vans and a shop located in Mechanicsville. While the primary service provided is still interior painting, additional services now offered include wallpaper removal, minor drywall repair, spraying cabinetry, and chalk painting furniture. With success comes notoriety. In 2011, S & S Painting LLC received na-
sspaintingllc@comcast.net
tional recognition when it was selected for Style Network’s “Clean House” program. The 2011 crew were challenged with the task of painting a 2,800 square foot home in Bon Air in less than 24 hours. In 2014 and 2017, S & S was voted one of the Favorite Painters in R-Home Magazine’s Reader Survey. In 2016, S & S Painting received first place in the Middle Atlantic Conference Picture It Painted Professionally contest hosted by the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America. Due to her hard work and dedication, Stacey became the president of the Richmond Chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America organization in 2015. S & S Painting, LLC is a Mechanicsville based company; its roots are here. Last year, S & S won the 2016 Local’s Choice award, and Stacey and her crew are incredibly proud to have been voted winner of the 2017 “Local’s Choice” for Interior Painting again.
