A program designed to assist small startup technology businesses in Hanover County could be getting a new location. The Dominion Resource Innovation Center, currently located in an industrial park near Ashland, is in its fifth year
of operation, and Economic Development director Edwin Gaskin told the Hanover County Board of Supervisors the project has resulted in a fair number of success stories. age their creation, and that’s where the Innovation Center enters the picture. For the past five years, the county has supported the Ashland campus in an effort to promote innovative startups in Hanover County. “At some point, someone has to leave their basement, dining room table or garage and have the courage to take their idea out in the stream of
commerce,” Gaskin said. Often, hefty rental fees and other startup costs prohibit these businesses from taking flight. “They can’t avail themselves to normal real estate options,” Gaskin said. The Innovation Center offers those businesses real see FACELIFT, pg. 4
