MECHANICSVILLE – The deaths of two young men and injuries to three others and one female have shaken the community and Lee-Davis High School. Dylan James Ballard, 17, and Elliott Hinton, 22, both of Mechanicsville, were passengers in a 2001 four-door Dodge Ram pickup truck that struck a tree Saturday night in the 6000 block of Cold Harbor Road.

They were pronounced dead at the scene, with the survivors, including the driver, being transported to VCU Health Systems for treatment of injuries, which were described as serious. Sgt. James R.
