1968 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z28

302/290 HP, 4-SPEED, DOCUMENTED WITH PROTECT-0-PLATE AND WINDOW STICKER

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 was a solid original when it was purchased from its original owner after being in storage for over 30 years, and after a complete and correct restoration it truly shines. Rust free, never wrecked and still wearing all-original body panels, it retains all the original and correct driveline components, most importantly its high compression 302 CI small block engine, whose Holley 4-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake, large-valve heads, solid lifter cam and free-flowing exhaust actually

generated from 70 to 100 more horsepower than its factory rating of 290. Standard equipment on the Z28 included a Muncie 4-speed and 3.73 rear end, power brakes and front disc brakes, heavy duty suspension, heavy duty radiator and thermostatic fan, quick steering ratio, 15x6 Rally wheels, front and rear spoilers and special Sport stripes, in this case Black to provide the perfect contrast to the car’s bright Butternut Yellow paint. Optioned with a tinted windshield, AM radio, D55 console and U17 special

instruments, this great collector-grade Z28 is documented with the original window sticker, license plate, ProtectO-Plate and owner’s manual.

283 POWER PACK ENGINE, TURBO 350 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

This splendid 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible has all the hallmarks of a carefully frame-off restored and authentically finished example with the added benefit of a couple of wellchosen mechanical upgrades. Period correct Larkspur Blue paint combines with a two-tone White and Blue interior to establish a wonderfully nostalgic look bolstered by full-size spinner hubcaps, wide Whitewall tires, dual rear mount antennas and chrome– tipped dual exhaust. While the car’s 283 CI 4-barrel Power Pack engine

looks just as it came from the factory, it is mated to a later production 350 Turbo 3-speed automatic transmission for greater flexibility, and the factorystyle power steering is paired with front power disc brakes, giving it allaround improved performance. It’s the best of old and new in classic 1957 Bel Air style.

1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR HARDTOP

283 CI, FUEL INJECTION, 3-SPEED, RESTORED BY NASCAR STAR MORGAN SHEPHERD

Ford and Chevrolet took their decades-old rivalry to the track in 1957, announcing high-performance versions of their full-sized cars in advance of the racing season. Chevrolet beat them to the punch with its Rochester fuel-injected 283 CI V-8 in 250 HP and 283 HP configurations, announcing their availability in all Chevrolet models including the Corvette, but it was the full-sized Chevys that struck first; once in NASCAR before they were outlawed in favor of single-4-barrel carburetion

and then at the Daytona Speed Weeks where they flat-out overwhelmed the competition. It is therefore appropriate that NASCAR star Morgan Shepherd was responsible for restoring this fabulous 1957 Bel Air hardtop, a solid Southern car that is one of 1,530 fullsize “Fuelie” Chevrolets, an exceptional car indeed in light of that year’s total production of 1,499,658 cars! Powered by the rare and desirable Rochester fuel-injected 283/283 HP solid-lifter engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission, this car is pure factory

hot rod: Matador Red paint with a Red and Black interior, matching Red wheels with wide Whitewalls and full-size spinner wheel covers and those precious “Fuel Injection” fender badges – all correct and in superb condition. Most importantly, all the rare fuel injection components are still on the car, ensuring its authenticity as a genuine Fifties icon.

1955 JAGUAR XK140 ROADSTER

ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING ENGINE, PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED BY NOTABLE JAGUAR SPECIALIST

Early postwar Jaguars are models of old world design and craftsmanship, and this 1955 Jaguar XK140 roadster demonstrates that they can also be particularly well-served when treated to carefully selected mechanical upgrades. The subject of a complete restoration by a noted Jaguar specialist, it first impresses with its timeless matching of glowing Red paint, beautiful chrome trim throughout and a supple Tan leather interior highlighted by a burled woodgrain dash and classic Smiths instrumentation.

The sporty original matching numbers inline-6 OHC engine remains in place and in showroom finish, but the factory non-synchromesh 4-speed transmission has been replaced by a 5-speed Tremec full-synchro unit for smoother power delivery. Cooling is now handled by an aluminum radiator, and the car’s braking is improved by front disc brakes, with sparkling chromed wire SS wheels wrapped in wide Whitewall Dunlops completing the rolling stock. Driven fewer than 1,000 miles since its restoration, this

marvelous vintage Jag is also fitted with a “Leaping Cat” hood ornament and comes with a full Black cockpit tonneau cover and the original front drum brakes, 4-speed transmission and radiator.

Riding on a rust-free frame, its no-hit body is finished in flashy Roman Red with a White convertible soft top and a sharp Red interior featuring a smalldiameter padded steering wheel and

327/250 HP, FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, UNRESTORED WITH ONLY TWO OWNERS SINCE NEW

One look at this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is all one needs to see why its Nassau Blue metallic paint was the most popular color that year, but of even more interest is the fact that it is the original factory-applied lacquer; the car has never been painted or restored, nor has it ever been wrecked or damaged, making it a prime candidate for the serious collector looking for high originality. It is very nicely equipped with the baseline 327/250 HP small block engine mated to a Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission, power

steering and factory air conditioning, and opens to reveal a handsome twotone interior with Blue dash, console, seat belts and carpeting and White seats and door panels, a teakwood steering wheel and AM/FM radio. Finned aluminum Kelsey-Hayes knockoff wheels add an extra touch of style to this fine original mid-year coupe. 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO CONVERTIBLE RESTO MOD

MERLIN 540 CI, BIG BLOCK, TREMEC 5-SPEED, CONCOURS-QUALITY HAND BUILT BY JOHN LEONARD

The myriad custom features and exquisite detailing of this handbuilt 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 convertible demonstrate the essence of the Resto Modding movement, which is to transform one’s favorite car into “The Ideal.” Originally owned by John Smith Chevrolet in Atlanta from 1970 until 2009, it was delivered by its new owner to the talented John Leonard for a Concours-quality makeover. That included packing the stock engine bay with a Merlin-block 540 CI big block engine with Brodix aluminum heads

dyno-tuned to a whopping 683 HP and 682 lb-ft of torque, which feeds through a Tremec TKO600 5-speed to a 12-bolt rear using 31-spline axles for durability. Hotchkiss frame connectors tie the ends of the car together for supreme rigidity, extracting the best handling from its custom coilover suspension and laying it down through 17x7 front and 17x8 rear Vintage Wheel Works wheels and Michelin Sport Pilot tires. While it remains faithful to its factory origins, the interior has been personalized with custom gauges

in the center console, a Blackhawk shifter and another very cool touch: leather seat upholstery done in the same pleated pattern as the factory vinyl units. Finally, the Camaro was cloaked in juicy Tuxedo Black paint with Silver Z28 stripes and fitted with a body-color front bumper, front and rear spoilers, “Z28”, “Rally Sport” and “540” badges, Rally Sport electric headlights and a Haartz padded cloth soft top. It all comes together in a truly spectacular machine that will appeal to even the most die-hard Camaro purist. 27

Chevrolet built a total of 14,531 Corvettes in 1962, 1,918 of which were equipped with the optional Rochester Ram-Jet fuel injection option that gave the 327 CI engine a whopping 360 HP. 1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE RACE CAR

#5938, RPO 684, 1 OF 51 PRODUCED, BLOOMINGTON GOLD SPECIAL COLLECTION

Of the 6,339 Corvettes built in 1957, only 43 were ordered with Rochester fuel injection and the special RPO 579E “racer” option, which included a special fresh “air box” intake. These cars also had the mandatory RPO 684 Heavy Duty Racing Suspension, which included heavy duty springs and shocks, front stabilizer bars, a quick steering adapter and sintered metallic front and rear brake linings with finned brake drums. Brake cooling was supplied by capturing fresh air in special scoops called “elephant

ears.” These scoops directed air into the brakes through screened backing plates. In 1957, a total of 51 Corvettes were produced with this special braking and heavy duty suspension package. This car, serial #5938, was produced late in the year and almost immediately pressed into regular race duty at Riverside Raceway in Southern California. Owner Dave King raced the car through the 1960s and sold it in 1976. Rich Mason purchased the

car in 1980 and continued racing it throughout the West until 2002. Dave Dwoskin purchased the car in 2003 and followed suit, racing it throughout the West and then restoring it in 2004. The car competed in events at Riverside, the Monterey Historics, Sears Point, Laguna Seca, San Diego, Buttonwillow, California Speedway, Portland International, Willowspring and Palm Springs. It is currently owned by John Justo, who has raced it at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen International.

It has won Bloomington Gold Certification, the NCRS Top Flight and Duntov Mark of Excellence Awards and has been selected to the 1996 Bloomington Gold Special Collection. It is one of only 144 ordered with the RPO 684 Heavy Duty Brakes and Suspension package that gave the car special springs and shock absorbers, a heavy duty front stabilizer bar, quick steering adapter,

sintered metallic brakes with finned brake drums, fresh air ducting to the rear brakes and front brake air scoops for cooling. Those pieces collectively tell only a part of the story, as ordering that package also required the buyer to include the RPO 579D 283/290 HP Rochester fuel-injected small block V-8, Borg-Warner 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction. This car also has RPO 276 15x5.5-inch wheels with small-diameter passenger car hubcaps with Corvette’s “crossed flags” emblems on the center caps. 43

1937 FORD CABRIOLET STREET ROD

350/300 HP, ALL STEEL CHOPPED 2 1/2” ON ORIGINAL 1937 FRAME

This outstanding 1937 Ford street rod was acquired as a pristine unrestored original in the mid-Nineties by SnapOn Tools dealer Roger Orsi, who purchased it from its long-time second owner in Chicago. Immediately thereafter he delivered the car to Marietta, GA builders Dennis Key and Dale Rathbone, who completely dismantled it in preparation for rebuilding it to meet Orsi’s vision. The two stripped the all-steel body and undercarriage and returned it to virtual flawlessness through careful

massaging with hammer, file and pick – the highly skilled Rathbone famously eschewed the use of filler – while simultaneously refurbishing the chassis. The stock ’37 frame was completely boxed and fitted with a Heidts Mustang II front suspension system, an 8-inch Ford rear axle on custom fabricated leaf springs and a complete LCI braking system, and a 1996 Chevrolet 350/300 HP crate engine was installed with full brightwork and accessories and mated to a 350 Turbo automatic transmission.

The car’s windshield frame, top and folding mechanism were chopped 2½ inches, the pristine body was skillfully finished in luscious Red paint – no surprise for a Snap-On guy – and the interior finished in supple Tan leather and tweed upholstery with MercedesBenz carpets. The end result was the fabulous all-steel ’37 Ford presented here, which remains in mint condition to this day, a glowing example of the rodder’s art.

Known as the “Badillac,” this Pro Street custom 1956 Cadillac Coupe Deville is arguably the wildest Cadillac on the planet. Featured in the Auto Meter booth at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, it won Auto Meter’s WinningRide. com contest and appeared on the cover of the company’s 2012 catalog. It was also voted one of the Top Ten Most Outrageous Rides at SEMA by MSNautos.com and has appeared in numerous magazines. The big Cad’s roof has been recontoured with a 3-inch chop at the front and a half-

inch at the back, the rear quarter skirts molded in and smoothed and the door handles and some trim shaved, after which it was sprayed with custommixed “Obscene Green” paint. The car brims with fascinating details: the now keyless-entry interior is finely finished in modern materials while retaining its Fifties-era flair; the 3-inch exhaust is ducted through the stock rear bumper outlets, and you still fill ‘er up by accessing the gas cap behind the flipup driver’s-side taillight.

Rolling on Centerline wheels with Kumho radials up front and monstrous 33x22.5 slicks out back, the Badillac is built on a sectioned and lowered Tri-Five Chevy front subframe with power rack and pinion steering and a Competition Engineering back half with a Strange narrowed 9-inch Ford rear end; coilover shocks and disc brakes are found at all four corners. This stunning 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 features the new-for-1971 429/370 HP Cobra Jet V-8 engine. Described by some as “a large Boss 302”, the 429CJ was a variation of the same block on which the Boss 429 engine was based. Using heads similar in design to that of the 351 Cleveland, the 429CJ employed 4-bolt mains, forged rods and pistons, 11.3:1 compression, a hydraulic cam similar in specification to the Boss 429, very large ports and valves (2.25-inch intake and 1.72-inch exhaust) and a large-capacity 4-barrel

carburetor. At $372.00, the 429CJ package proved too costly for most buyers, so the option was dropped midway through the year, making these cars exceptionally rare today. This 429CJ-equipped example is finished in ultra-rare Grabber Green Metallic paint with Black Mach 1 graphics and rides on chromed Magnum 500 wheels wearing correct Firestone Wide Oval tires. The Cobra Jet’s performance is enhanced with added Ram Air induction, power steering and front disc brakes, heavy duty C6

Although this car’s Riverside Red paint was a popular color in 1963 it was seldom paired with a Red interior, a combination that has since become very attractive to collectors. The same can be said of this car’s matching numbers L76 327 CI engine, a free-revving powerhouse

with Carter 4-barrel carburetion, a high lift hydraulic cam and a compression ratio of 11.25:1. This compact and reliable engine generated 340 HP at 6,000 RPM and a surprising 344 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 RPM, just the thing to back up with a 4-speed manual transmission. An immaculately turnedout Split Window coupe in great colors and with a great engine.

Even better for Corvette collectors, it was equipped at the factory with the RPO 684 Heavy Duty Brakes and Suspension package, which gave the

car special front and rear springs and shock absorbers, a heavier front sway bar, quick steering adapter, metallic brakes, finned brake drums, fresh air ducting to the rear brakes and front brake air deflectors, often referred to as “elephant ears.” A completely restored hard top-only car with radio and heater delete, it also benefits from a very desirable combination of Tuxedo Black lacquer and contrasting Red interior, an altogether splendid example of the top-performing Corvette of its era.

Then it was off to Kar Kraft’s Brighton, MI headquarters, where on February 19 it was transformed into KK #1454, one of a handful Boss 429s built in 1969 and 1970 to homologate the new 429 CI “Semi Hemi” V-8 for NASCAR racing, which had become a virtual playground for Chrysler’s 426 Hemi. With its gaping fiberglass hood scoop,

Confirmed in controlled testing by Chevrolet engineer Gin Huffstader, the result was vastly improved stopping power and decreased brake fade, just the ticket for the Penske Racing Trans Am team for whom the JL8 package

was originally developed. The product of a 15-month frame-off restoration, this matching numbers 1969 Z28 is one of only 206 Camaros built with the JL8 brake package. 1985 CHEVROLET CORVETTE GTP REPLICA FUEL INJECTED 383 CI STROKER, PORSCHE 5-SPEED

The Mongoose Motorsports GTP is a replica car inspired by and based on the 1984-1988 Corvette Grand Touring Prototype built by Lola for the IMSA and Le Mans racing series. Armed with the bodywork molds for the original car, Mongoose Motorsports designed a mid-engine GTP utilizing C5 suspension and a composite monocoque and tube frame chassis. Unlike the originals, the MM GTP can be driven on the roads and highways in air conditioned comfort as well as being ready for a day at the track.

This GTP replica is fully streetable and titled as a Chevrolet. It makes another departure from the original in one very important aspect: rather than the V-6 that powered the racers, this one is equipped with a fuel-injected 383 CI stroker small block mated to a Porsche 5-speed transaxle. Rich Blue Metallic paint with White and Red trim clothes the fiberglass body and composite rear wing, and the GTP is fully finished inside with Red leather upholstery on the bucket seats and dash, full instrumentation, racing

harnesses and yes, air conditioning. Michelin Pilot Sport tires on CCW machined aluminum wheels supply incredible roadholding and complete this car’s visual impact. Original GTP driver Doc Bundy supplied a great finishing touch by autographing the left side “meatball.”

ORIGINAL 454/425 HP, 4-SPEED, NABER BROTHERS’ BODY-OFF RESTORATION, NCRS DUNTOV AWARD

In contrast to every other engine in the 1971 Chevrolet lineup, the Corvette LS6’s 454 CI engine was not detuned to run on unleaded fuel; rather, it flew in the face of corporate policy, requiring premium leaded fuel to fire its 425 horsepower, a final shot across the corporate bow by Corvette’s individualistic Chief Engineer Zora Arkus Duntov. As a result, the LS6 is one of the most avidly sought-after big block Corvettes of that era. This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is one of only 188 produced in either

T-top or convertible body style with the LS6 454/425 HP big block V-8, in this case the original matching numbers engine with the very rare Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed and 3.36 Positraction rear end. A frameoff restoration by Nabers Brothers of Houston, it has won multiple National and Regional NCRS Top Flight Awards, NCRS Performance Verification and the Duntov Mark of Excellence award. Chevrolet scored a major marketing coup when the new Camaro was chosen to pace the 1967 Indianapolis 500. Four Ermine White 396 convertibles were specially prepared for duty on race day at the Brickyard, and one hundred replicas were built for use by race officials and VIPs in the month preceding the 500, and then later sold to the public as used vehicles. While drivetrains and options varied, all were painted Ermine White with Bright Blue Z87 Custom interiors and White soft tops and bore the famous “Official Pace Car” body-side

decals. This ultra-rare 1967 Camaro RS/SS Pace Car convertible is one of fewer than 50 known to still exist. 2011 CHEVROLET CAMARO EARNHARDT “INTIMIDATOR EDITION” SUPERCHARGED 704 HP ENGINE, 6-SPEED

Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet of Newton, NC capitalized on the performance potential of the 2011 Camaro to produce its own special Intimidator model that pays tribute to its namesake. Performance-tuned on the 7-post Vehicle Dynamics test rig at Dale Earnhardt, Inc., this Black Intimidator Camaro is appropriately named, as it packs a custom dynotuned supercharged V-8 that churns out 704 HP and 695 ft-lb of torque at 11psi boost while breathing through ceramic coated headers and stainless

steel exhaust. Lavished with special Intimidator graphics, the car’s exterior is also amped up with NASCAR-style braced front and rear spoilers, a frontinduction hood, heritage front grille and chromed wheels engraved with the Intimidator logo. The suspension now wears one-inch drop rate springs, adjustable sway bars and new subframe connectors, along with a set of cross-drilled rotors and Chevrolet/ Brembo calipers to help bring the car down from speed. With the obvious exception of its massive Chip Foose chromed wheels and wide Toyo low-profile rubber, this 1956 Chevrolet 210 looks virtually stock, and yet opening it up and exploring its workings reveals enough surprises and skilled execution that it won the Syracuse Nationals Designers Top 100 award. Its Glasurit Red and Polo White paint is trimmed with all new chrome, and the body insulated with Dynamat and Navy submarine-grade sound insulation to maximize the benefit of its custom Air

Ride suspension. Originality reigns inside the Red and White interior, but touches like the factory radio and below-dash tissue dispenser share space with a Summit gauge pack, an Alpine CD/ DVD/iPod radio hidden in the glove box and powerful speakers molded into the trim panels. There are twin payoffs under the trunk lid and hood, the former housing a 20-inch flat screen TV with remote control and booming sound, and the latter packing a show-prepped 283 CI Chevy small block complete with a

1964 CHEVROLET CORVETTE RESTO MOD FUEL INJECTED 427 CI, TREMEC 5-SPEED, JAMESON TUBE CHASSIS

Built by a dedicated mid-year enthusiast, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is made to break free from the confines of correctness and to take advantage of modern performance developments. The first step toward realizing that goal was to mount the Corvette body on a Jamison tube chassis fitted with C4 suspension, steering and brakes, and C6 Z06 17x8.5-inch front and 18x9.5-inch rear Spyder wheels. A GM Performance 427 CI big block engine with aluminum heads and FAST fuel injection feeds power to a Tremec 5-speed and

breathes through factory-style side exhaust. Jerry Gilbert, Terry Rea & Kenny Whittle from Martinsville, VA readied the body, applied the beautiful Torch Red paint and performed final assembly, which included customizing the interior with Stinger Roadkill sound proofing, C6 leather seats, an Ididit steering column, custom dash and sound with iPod Touch control by Sonus Car Audio, Vintage Air and a clever storage compartment - in place of the original dash speaker - for the Red Oakley sunglasses included with the car. 147

A pivotal car in Shelby history, it has been replicated in this 1967 Ford Mustang convertible that has been featured several times in the automotive press for its unique appearance and wonderful craftsmanship. A 5-year rotisserie nut-and-bolt build completed in spring 2012, it features spectacular Shelby bodywork and Candy Apple Red paint perfectly accented with White striping

The interior is well executed with Shelby sport seats, a Cobra wood-rimmed steering wheel on a tilt column, JME custom gauges with Shelby deluxe brushed aluminum trim, a Sony stereo system and the trademark padded roll bar. The vintage look gives way to modern performance with a new Ford Racing 392/500 HP crate engine using a Holley 4-barrel, Billet Specialties serpentine kit, MSD ignition and Jet Hot-coated Hooker headers; it’s backed with a heavy duty

C6 automatic and a 3.50 Positraction rear end with Currie 31-spline axles for ultimate durability. Heidts Mustang II front suspension eliminates the stock shock towers and vastly improves the car’s handling in concert with 4-wheel disc brakes with Aerospace Industries billet calipers.

LT1 CORVETTE ENGINE, 700R4 AUTOMATIC, PROFESSIONAL BUILD

Street rodders love to push the envelope, and the rest of the world loves them for that, because that insistence on advancing their urge to expression produces sublime creations like this show-stopping 1937 Ford cabriolet, a fresh professional build with impressive integrity of design and detail. Tangerine Pearl over Tangerine Candy paint gives the car an incredibly deep finish that works perfectly with the sculpted-and-polished billet front grille, light bezels and door handles,

Boyd Coddington wheels and skillfully airbrushed side trim; the same effect is at work on the beautifully sculpted dash, the focal point of a stylish interior brimming with great details – check out the Orange ostrich skin accents and the shift console reminiscent of the Jaguar XKE – and completed with Classic gauges, power windows and locks, cruise control and the sharp liftoff top. There’s more sculpting under the hood, where a 1993 Corvette LT1 350 CI engine drives a 700R4

automatic transmission with overdrive and sends spent gases back to a very slick pair of frenched-in tailpipes. Air Ride independent suspension keeps the completely finished undercarriage at exactly the right ground height for the perfect nose-down stance.

Large diameter American Racing Shelby-style wheels and BF Goodrich radial T/As hint that there is more to this Shelby than the norm, and a look under the GT500’s fiberglass hood reveals the original Police Interceptor engine that has been bored and stroked with numerous

upgrades for increased output and built to run on premium pump gasoline. The original Cobra dress-up kit remains, but the engine now puts out a healthy 550 dyno-proven horsepower, and Wilwood 4-wheel cross-drilled and vented disc brakes have been added to capitalize on the car’s increased performance. And Shelby purists take note: most of the original parts will be included with this stunning GT500.
