From The
Rick Davis Collection Early in his retirement from a successful real estate career, Rick Davis and his wife were cruising Tarpon Springs, Florida, when they spied a 1967 Corvette coupe on display at Classic Corvettes. Impulse struck, and Davis bought the car on the spot. Today that coupe, which was Davis’ dream car during his high school years, remains in his collection. “I caught the bug with that car”, says Davis, who since then has built an extremely diverse car collection highlighted by some of the rarest, most interesting Corvettes in the world: “L88s, Benchmark cars that are like brand new, big brake cars, factory prototypes, cars with great racing histories; the first with a power top, even the first air conditioned Corvette (a 1963 coupe).” Most of them have not been seen by the public in many years - in some cases more than two decades.
JANUARY 24-29
Osceola Heritage Park • Kissimmee, FL
But according to Davis, they all have one very important feature in common: “Great documents. Always. I don’t have a single car that isn’t matching numbers and fully documented. And there’s always someone ready to buy the best.” To Rick Davis, it makes perfect sense to extend this exclusive offering of Corvettes and muscle cars through Mecum. “Dana and I are personal friends. He’s a very nice fellow and he has always run a first class operation, so I figure what better place to offer these cars than Dana’s auction?” We couldn’t agree more! Mecum Auction is pleased to have the opportunity to offer these superb vehicles from the Rick Davis Collection at the Mecum Kissimmee Auction, Saturday January 28, 2012.
