Greetings from our new home in Walworth, Wisconsin. We’re all moved in to our new facility and it’s business as usual. With the holidays now upon us, so is our 2011 Grand Finale Event, so pack your Thanksgiving leftovers and head over to Kansas City where the buzzword is consignments! So far, the sales department has consigned more than 750 cars to this year’s auction at Bartle Hall in Kansas City. There we will offer more than 100 vehicles over last year, promising a finish to our 2011 auction season in true Mecum fashion. From there, it’s off to Kissimmee, Florida where on January 2429, Osceola Heritage Park will play host to one of the country’s most successful and fastest growing collector car auctions. It all happens East of the Mississippi in January, so make your plans now for this must attend event. The excitement and anticipation built upon the incredible success of last year’s auction has already translated to over 1200 vehicles consigned. For anyone yet wishing to participate, we still have 800 great positions available and there’s still time to consign. On behalf of my family, and the entire Mecum organization, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you all soon. - Dana
TIME to MOVE
Mecum went to walworth For 25 years, Mecum Auctions has operated out of Marengo, Illinois, a quaint small town between Chicago and Rockford. Due to the tremendous growth we have experienced over the last five years, Dana Mecum made the decision to move the company’s headquarters to a more suitable facility. In keeping with its small town heritage, Mecum Auction has relocated 20 miles north to the town of Walworth, Wisconsin, a natural fit as Mecum has long maintained a large facility there for vehicle and equipment storage. After renovating to accommodate a full state-of-theart office facility, the new headquarters officially opened on October 24th, 2011. This relocation and expansion will not only provide a better environment for our employees, it will allow us to better serve our customers by providing faster and more efficient service, a continuing commitment we at Mecum look forward to fulfilling in the days and years to come. M Please note our new address and phone numbers: Mecum Auctions 445 South Main Street Walworth, WI 53184

MECUM SPONSORS AMA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Mecum Auctions sponsored dirt track and roadracing icon and AMA Hall of Famer Kenny Roberts during the 2011 American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, November 18, 2011, during the Capital One Visa Card AMA Legends & Champions Weekend at Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas. During the ceremony, Mecum’s motorcycle division manager Gavin Trippe Sr. presented “King Kenny” Roberts with an award honoring his contributions to the motorcycling community, effectively graduating his Hall of Fame status to “Legend.” “I have known Kenny since he was a teenager at the start of his racing career, and I was very proud to join other industry leaders in honoring him at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Ceremony,” said Trippe, a fellow AMA Hall of Famer. Roberts, who was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998, won his first-ever AMA Grand National race in 1972 and went on to win 33 AMA Nationals in dirt-track and roadracing, including the prestigious Daytona 200 three times. A master of the dirt oval, Roberts achieved legendary status when he fielded a dirt-tracker powered by a TZ750 two-stroke Illustration: So Woefully Underpaid by Tom Fritz
roadracer engine at the Indianapolis Mile in 1975, made a dramatic last-lap pass for the win and then stated: “They don’t pay me enough to ride that thing.” “We are proud to support the AMA and the Legends & Champions Weekend,” said Dana Mecum, president of Mecum Auctions and an avid motorcycle collector himself. “Presenting ‘King Kenny’ with this award was an honor, and we’re excited to have Roberts and this great event be part of the kick off to our 2012 season as Mecum celebrates 25 years in business. I have always believed that motorcycles were a natural fit for car collectors.” Trippe agrees, and is looking forward to bringing motorcycles to the major collector car market throughout 2012. “It’s great to be able to get two wheels to the major auction arena, where they belong, and to expose them to a much broader audience,” commented Trippe. Mecum’s 2012 auction schedule will feature a variety of classic and special interest motorcycles for sale, kicking off during the annual Kissimmee Auction, Jan. 24-29, 2012 at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Fla. The auction will broadcast with four days of live national TV coverage on Discovery’s all new Velocity network during the “Mecum Auto Auctions: Muscle Cars & More” show. M
TOUR OF DUTY UPDATE: Earlier this year, General Motors donated this 2011 Camaro Convertible to platform a one-of-a-kind custom build performed by customizing giant Ryan Friedlinghaus and his team at West Coast Customs. The car now simply known as “The Operation Mend Camaro”, features a full custom camouflage paint scheme representing all branches of the U.S. Military and UCLA Operation Mend. From the SLP supercharged engine under the hood to represent power and resilience, to the embedded challenge coins throughout the interior to showcase hard work and dedication from our military personel was auctioned live on Velocity during the Mecum Auction in Dallas, TX October 7, 2011.
The Operation Mend Camaro helped raise a total of $366,000 for Operation Mend in Dallas and the Mecum family and organization have committed to continue its tour of duty helping raise awareness for this noble cause at various events nationwide. In the last few weeks, the Camaro has been on display at The SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV, served as the chariot for the Grand Marshall during the Veteran’s Day Parade in New York City on 11/11/11, and most recently at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago.

ASK KRAMAN Q.
John, How do you verify that a car is what it is advertised to be? There are a lot of clones out there, how does Mecum get their history? Do you validate every car in the auction? - Ron R.
A.
Hello Ron, All vehicle information we use for description on entries is provided by the consigner on the auction listing contract. We do verify during the vehicle check in process that the VIN number on the vehicle tag matches the title exactly. In addition, if a “numbers matching” claim is made we do require the consigner to sign a specific statement attesting to that fact as well. And all clones, tributes, recreations, etc, are described uniformly as replicas so there is no question of authenticity. We consider accurate descriptions to be a top priority and have zero tolerance for intentional fraudulent information and descriptions. - John Kraman M

HISTORICAL CHAMPIONSHIP
CORVETTE RACER Winner of the 1961 SCCA B-Production National Championship, this Gulf Oil-sponsored 1961 Corvette was the most dominant Corvette racer of its time, winning almost every race it entered. It is one of two delivered by Yenko Chevrolet to the legendary Grady Davis, who ordered them equipped with the RPO354 fuel-injected 283/315 HP engine, Borg Warner 4-speed transmission, Positraction rear end, heavy duty brakes and suspension and quick steering adapter. Both cars were then prepared with the so-called Sebring Racing Package, which was supplied courtesy of Zora Arkus Duntov and consisted of a 37-gallon fiberglass fuel tank, hood louvers, headlamp covers, and auxiliary front anti-sway bar.

1961 Chevrolet Corvette Gulf Race Car SCCA B-Production National Champion
The Gulf Corvette made its competition debut on March 25 1961 at the Sebring 12 Hours driven by Don Yenko and Ben Moore, who took it to third place in the GT 3000 class. Yenko followed that up with consecutive SCCA B-Production victories at Virginia, Cumberland, Bridgehampton, Dunkirk, and Lime Rock. The Gulf Corvette’s record was interrupted at the Meadowvale National, where it was discovered under protest to have an aluminum flywheel, an oversight resulting from its preparation for FIA competition. The SCCA penalized Yenko, suspending him from competition for six months. Having invested the full might of Gulf Oil’s Research and Development arm in the car’s success, Grady Davis immediately turned to “The Flying Dentist”, Corvette specialist Dr. Dick Thompson, who followed Davis’ instructions to “win every race here on” for the championship with victories

Dan Heller was born into the thick of the Chevy vs. Ford rivalry, coming of age when the competition reached its peak in the muscle car era of the late Sixties. His father Gene, a successful Ford dealer, raised Dan on the virtues of good business and customer service, and in doing so passed on his reverence for the cars of the Blue Oval. Not only has Dan followed in his father’s footsteps in the family business; he has fed his passion by collecting and restoring the machines that first caught his youthful imagination. Each one was, at various points in Dan’s life, THE car to have. From a 1963 Falcon Sprint convertible like the one he drove in high school to the 1969 Shelby GT350 convertible he describes as the car of his dreams, each one has been restored to be the best. “We didn’t start on any car unless we LOT T128 knew we could do it right”, says Dan, “and every one is the best it can be.
