EXPERIENTIAL TRAINING Unparalleled
TRANSACTIONAL LAWYERING INSTITUTE
The Transactional Lawyering Institute at LMU Loyola Law School was formed to create experiential learning opportunities for students interested in the practice of transactional business law. The Institute features a deal negotiation competition, experiential transactional courses, the Transactional Negotiation Team, networking events with practicing attorneys, and externship opportunities to gain experience in transactional practice.
FIELD PLACEMENTS
Experience the up-close, day-to-day workings of a variety of legal institutions by participating in one of the law school’s many externships. Whether a law firm, public interest organization, government office, or state or federal court, you will gain realworld experience working with clients alongside practicing legal professionals at the top of their fields.
JUDICIAL EXTERNSHIPS
Where You’ll Work: In the chambers of a state or federal judge in exchange for unit credit at Loyola. What You’ll Do: Externs perform such tasks as file evaluation, legal research or preparation of memoranda, all while seeing up close the innerworkings of one of L.A.’s many state or federal courts.
ENTERTAINMENT AND MEDIA LAW INSTITUTE
The Entertainment & Media Law Institute includes the Entertainment & Media Law Concentration, which features a wide range of adjunct professors currently practicing; curricular roadmaps; and the Entertainment Law Practicum which places students in major motion picture studios, videogame studios, recording companies, sports franchises, and agencies; and much more.

LOYOLA IMMIGRANT JUSTICE CLINIC
Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic’s innovative program brings law students to places like Guadalajara, Mexico and El Paso, Texas to offer legal support and bilingual educational resources for migrant populations on both sides of the border.
INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER
Students in the International Human Rights Center prepare and submit reports on topics like access to abortion in Malawi and the impact of climate change on human rights in the Caribbean, often traveling to other countries to advocate before entities such as the U.N. Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

LAW REVIEWS
Loyola Law School students edit and publish three law reviews. LOYOLA ANTI-RACISM CENTER
Loyola Law School was the first law school in the country to enact and mandate throughout its core curriculum a learning outcome devoted to deconstructing systemic inequality. The learning outcome is required in all first-year foundational courses.
Race & Law Colloquium
Founded and led by Professor Priscilla Ocen, the Race & Law Colloquium examines and engages cutting-edge scholarship on race, law and inequality, with weekly presentations by leading scholars of race and law, as well as advocates and policymakers who prioritize racial justice in their work. CONCENTRATION PR0GRAMS
LMU Loyola Law School’s Concentrations help students develop the specialized skills and knowledge applicable to their chosen field of law. The program features a focused curriculum that combines a comprehensive classroom experience with clinical and practical training. Participating students also have access to advisors and the opportunity to establish contacts with Loyola’s extensive alumni network.
CIVIL LITIGATION & ADVOCACY
Students will have exposure to the law and skills necessary to train as an advocate in the civil litigation setting.
CORPORATE
This Concentration provides foundational coursework needed for corporate transactional practice, including business associations, mergers and acquisitions, and securities regulation.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Students will learn the necessary skills to train as an advocate in a criminal prosecution or defense setting.
CYBERSECURITY & DATA PRIVACY LAW
This Concentration prepares students for the evolving legal demands presented by emerging technology.
ENTERTAINMENT
& MEDIA LAW
This Concentration includes two tracks: Transactional and Advocacy. A key component of both is the hands-on experience through externships at some of the leading entertainment companies in Los Angeles.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Students interested in using their law degree to pursue a career in business have the opportunity to take two elective MBA courses at LMU’s Hilton School of Business.
IMMIGRANT ADVOCACY
This Concentration builds upon a strong foundation in civil litigation skills with a substantive background in immigration law.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW
This Concentration builds upon a core curriculum of patent, trademark, copyright and antitrust law courses.
INTERNATIONAL
& COMPARATIVE LAW
This Concentration is divided into three Sub-Concentrations: International Business Law, International Criminal and Human Rights Law, and International and Comparative Law.
PUBLIC INTEREST LAW
This Concentration exposes students to a multitude of legal careers including advocating for children, immigrants, diversity groups, nonprofit organizations, civil rights, and more.
TAX LAW
This Concentration offers a thorough grounding in substantive tax law and practical tax-lawyering skills.
