1.night:Discuss what your child wants to dress up as.
4. Have your child or children decorate their bedroom doors.
3. Plan on decorating the main floor of the house.
2. Plan and create with your child his or her costume.
By now, you are most likely wondering about Halloween, one of everyone’s all-time favourite celebration for younger children. Most of us were challenged in the past few years with the sense of urgency that required us to race home to make dinner early, dressing the kids up, taking them out in the cold for most, and wondering what the weather will be like, such as freezing, rain or snow. All this work to prepare and the little ones end up wearing coats to cover up their outfits. Plus, the challenge of how to fit the costume over their snowsuits or raincoats or bulky sweaters. I’m not sure about you, but I always found Halloween stressful, oh, and I forgot to mention decorating the outside of the house; which would then be followed by additional work with taking it all down only to start preparing for Christmas and facing another type of rush and chaos. You still haven’t been able to have me-time or enjoy the holiday itself. Well, this year is your chance to. Despite vaccine uptake, if you are still concerned about going trick or treating without jeopardizing your health,
here are some suggestions to still make Halloween night a special one by planning a weeklong list of activities each
6. Bake and make different kinds of homemade treats. There are many websites and YouTube videos with easy to follow recipes.
The Spooky Tale of Captain Underpants Hack-AWeen, Spookley the Square Pumpkin, A Witches’ Ball, Room on the Broom, Double, Double, Toil and Trouble, The Nightmare Before Christmas, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Twitches, Toy Story of Terror, The Dog Who Saved Halloween, Room on a Broom, and Spooky Buddies.Andremember, “Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be will be.”
It’s hard to believe, but here we are again – fall, Thanksgiving and Halloween. Who would have thought that 2022 would ‘zoom’ right by us (pun intended)? Let’s look at the bright side: the year is almost over, and in some ways, this force in change of our habits and behaviour has been a good thing.
7. On Halloween night, plan a list of Halloween related movies the entire family can watch and eat those treats.Hereare some of my movie suggestions:
5. Carve out that pumpkin and save those seeds.

Terrell’s advice, start early. After all, the banking world can be intimidating even for the not-so-young.
Once the child is about six or seven, it may be an appropriate time to introduce your children to the concept of earning and saving with an allowance. Using a piggy bank or various jars can help your child physically allocate the money. Not only will this help introduce the difference between wants and needs, but where the money is going and how much they have.

“At its core, I think wants and needs are the backbones of a budget. So, when you approach this topic with your kids, you’re not just helping them make more informed decisions with their money. You’re teaching them about the value of creating a budget.” And if you need extra help, another book Terrell recommends is, Do I Need It? Or Do I Want it? by Jennifer
So, instead of saving their money in a piggy bank in their bedroom, it’s now in the bank earning interest and working for them.”

Examples include:

The biggest risk of taking illicit drugs, including prescription pills bought illegally, is accidental fentanyl overdose, due to the widespread availability of the illicit drug market.

Illicit drugs may affect mood, movement, your ability to make rational decisions, as well as increase your risk of becoming a victim of violence, or getting into a serious accident.
Chronic drug abuse can also lead to physical dependence and substance use disorder – a disease that may require professional treatment to overcome.

Baby-led weaning (BLW) is not new. Parents around the world have been bypassing purées and instead introducing solids as finger foods to their child at six months and older. So instead of the parent pushing the intake of food, the child acquires a stronger connection to and control over how much food they consume. They decide and, through the process, learn to chew and improve their manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination skills.

Did you know that one in four children has feeding challenges and difficulty eating? That can make mealtimes a struggle for parents, caregivers, and kids. Whether the reason is neurodiversity, feeding aversion, or a medical condition, feeding therapist Jill Rabin and babyled weaning pioneer Gill Rapley are here to help with a groundbreaking BABY CAN SELF-FEED TOO
BABY | UNDER ONE
This book is intended primarily for parents, therapists and medical professionals who work with babies with feeding challenges, such as those with a complex medical history or developmental delay (such as Down syndrome). However, the information is of value in caring for any baby who finds the transition to solids difficult, especially those struggling with advancing to more complex foods that require chewing.
discouraging, especially in the short term. It’s important for everyone concerned with the baby to manage their own expectations and allow time for skills to develop. The focus needs to be on the baby’s experience of food and eating and the learning that is taking place, not on the amount ingested. Breastmilk and/or formula should be considered the baby’s primary source of nutrition, at least until the fi rst birthday, with other foods required in tiny amounts only.
Jill Rabin, MS, CCC-SLP/L, IBCLC, pediatric speech pathologist. Gill Rapley, PhD, is known worldwide as the pioneer of baby-led weaning.
ABLW is a systematic and therapeutic approach to introducing complementary foods that introduce sizes, shapes and textures based on the child’s ability, helping them to advance safely. With a therapist’s guidance, using “bridge devices”, like silicone feeders, allows all babies to self-feed from the outset, even if they have motor challenges.
This book aims to empower parents to support their children to achieve maximum autonomy in eating, starting when solid foods are first introduced in the second half of the first year.
What are the benefi ts of adapted baby-led weaning (ABLW)?
“We expect it to be welcomed by families who’ve been told that their baby can’t safely feed themselves or follow baby-led weaning (BLW), when, in fact, there is almost certainly a way that this can happen,” points out Rabin and Rapley. And this is where this book becomes a helpful resource.Tounderstand the benefits of ABLW and how parents should approach this book, we asked Rabin and Rapley to share their thoughts.
ABLW also enables babies to recognize their feelings of hunger
new approach: adapted baby-led weaning (ABLW). In their new book, Your Baby Can Self-Feed Too, Rabin and Rapley teach applied techniques to help children become happy and healthy self-feeders.
What hurdles can parents expect? Babies with feeding challenges may get stuck on the same food shape or texture until their skills improve sufficiently to allow them to move on to more advanced foods. This can be
The information in this book is best used in collaboration with the baby’s health care providers, especially speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, so they can determine how to move forward based on the child’s individual needs. However, if a therapist isn’t involved, the book will show parents how to prepare for the transition to solids, select appropriate foods, and present them safely to their baby. But we would advise parents not to attempt to implement the more therapeutic aspects of the
Parents’ and caregivers’ patience will be rewarded as the baby begins to demonstrate complex skills at a younger age than is generally the case with the conventional approach of spoon feeding and purées.
What advice do you have for parents?
Babies with significant feeding challenges will benefit from working with a feeding therapist who understands the principles of adapted baby-led weaning and how to guide the family. Throughout, coordination between the babies’ parents and the health professionals supporting them is paramount, so everyone understands the path to be followed and can work towards the same goals. We believe that, with the proper support from medical and feeding professionals and tailored guidance for parents, babies with feeding challenges can learn to feed themselves and become independent, intuitive and adventurous eaters just like their typically developing peers. We fervently hope that BLW and ABLW will be seen as a viable alternative to reliance on spoon feeding and purées for all babies in the not-too-distant future. It really does have the potential to change lives.

and satiation, deciding for themselves what to eat (from among healthy food options), how much, and how fast. It makes sharing family food and mealtimes easier, supporting the acquisition of social skills and language. Most importantly, it promotes self-reliance and – for the baby and their parents – confidence in the baby’s abilities.

lampshades, so have fun with these items. Add the playful elements with smaller décor pieces like a hand-crafted mobile or a wall hanging. It’s amazing how much charm a few simple pieces can bring to a child’s space.
to unify your space by incorporating your home’s overall décor style.
Simple. When designing their room, remember children view the world from a lower perspective than we do, so get down to their eye level. But don’t forget to take advantage of all that vertical wall space. Consider creating higher shelving. Maybe add a plate rail around the room and use that as storage for all the stuffed animals. It’s a great way of getting these things off the floor but still within view. Then whatever the child fancies that particular day, you can take it down and give it to them, and then put it back in its place when they’re finished playing with it.
Remember to keep the space safe for you and your child. There are many options for today’s parents, like safety gates, cabinets and door locks, just to name a few. Getting a home consultation from a safety provider might offer the solutions to fit your needs as your toddler becomes increasingly curious and more mobile. And don’t forget to install a working smoke alarm in the room, and if you have a fuel-burning appliance, like a fireplace, or an attached garage, a carbon monoxide detector must be installed adjacent to each sleeping area.
source.Asfor the overall décor itself, it pays to be more selective, keeping the room relatively neutral and not to go overboard on themed rooms. Instead, add small touches of whimsy. It will help when making the transition as your child gets older.
Today’sMultifunctionalarrangement?pieces.parentsarelooking for transitional pieces that can take them through various stages of the child’s growing years. Furniture needs to have double-duty applications. For instance, repurposing an existing dresser and then building a change table top to fit on it. Now you have an area to store diapers and more. When the child is older, you can remove the change top and you have a dresser.

KID’S ROOM – SMALL SPACES
Space is always an issue. We never seem to have enough. But when it comes time to incorporate a child’s room within a smaller environment, what’s the key to a harmonious living and design
And if your home is beginning to look like Fisher Price has planned an extended visit, an ottoman that doubles as storage is a great idea. At the end of the night, you just open it up, and store all the toys away. Like magic, your space becomes yours again.
It’s those special pieces that can really add the magic. Although themed rooms depicting favourite nursery rhymes or storybook characters are still very popular, today’s trend is creating children’s rooms that are a little more grown-up. This way, the investment is more longterm, and creatively, you’ve managed
If your look is French Country, why not inject the same feeling in the child’s bedroom but with a youthful, playful twist? And when it comes time to paint the walls, keep the contrasts between the floor, wall and ceiling to a minimum. It’s not light or dark colours that make a room seem small – it’s all the contrasting colours. Let the toys add the splash of colour by keeping things fairly neutral. With budgets always a concern – keep it simple. Instead of buying kidsized furniture, invest in furniture they won’t outgrow. You can always modify accessories like drawer knobs and
Sometimes, the designated child’s room may have originally been a den or home office, lacking any privacy by means of a fixed door from the main living space. A great solution is to divide off the room with back-to-front storage or wardrobe cabinets. In an instant, you’ve created a great visual
