Born in 1983, since the first harvests Dal Forno Romano has collected a deserved success for the quality of the wines, made with an artisan spirit and with choices production based on low yields per hectare, on continuous research in cultivation of vine and accurate methods of vinification and ageing. Il viaggio inizia a Città di Castello, adagiata in collina sulla sinistra del Tevere. Harmonious and dotted with rural landscapes that look back in time, the Val Tiberina is a world with everything to be discovered with no lack of excellent opportunities for vacationing and enjoying the pleasures of fine food and drink. The tour starts at Città di Castello, lying on a hill on the left bank of the river Tevere. Surrounded by imposing walls, it is worth a visit not only for its vestiges of the past but also for the museums dedicated to the contemporary artist Alberto Burri. Another interesting destination is Umbertide, in particular for two of its churches: Santa Maria della Reggia and Santa Croce with the altarpiece by Luca Signorelli. 3

Lasciata la Val Tiberina, ci si può inoltrare nella Valle Umbra. Si tratta di un vasto territorio un tempo occupato da due laghi poi scomparsi, la cui unica traccia sono oggi le incantevoli fonti del Clitunno a poca distanza da Trevi, abbarbicata al suo colle. Altra meraviglia da non perdere è Todi, con la stupenda Piazza del Popolo e la bella chiesa rinascimentale di Santa Maria della Consolazione. A poca distanza ecco invece Foligno con il suo duomo romanico, Spello con le chiese affrescate dal Pinturicchio e dal Perugino e, infine, Gualdo Cattaneo con l’imponente mole del Castello di Simigni.
Leaving the Tiber Valley behind, we enter the Umbra Valley. This is a vast territory once occupied by two lakes that have now disappeared, the only traces of which are now the charming springs of the Clitunno river a short distance from Trevi, perched on its hill. Another wonder not to be missed is Todi, with the stupendous Piazza del Popolo and the fine Renaissance church of Santa Maria della Consolazione. Not far away lies Foligno with its Romanesque Cathedral, Spello with churches frescoed by Pinturicchio and by Perugino, and lastly Gualdo Cattaneo with the impressive Castle of Simigni. 9

In Abruzzo, not far from the Maiella National Park, Sulmona is a delightful city located on the Peligna plateau, which was occupied long ago by a lake. At the foot of Monte Morrone, it conserves important monuments such as the Romanesque church of San Francesco and the Ducal Tavern dating back to Medieval times, built in the 1300s to bring together and sell the harvest tithes. Continuing onwards to Cocullo we first come to Scanno, a romantic village looking out across the lake of the same name and then Pescasseroli, the administrative seat of the Abruzzo National Park Autonomous Authority, a geographical area of inestimable environmental value.
