ACME Film is the second largest film distributor as well as largest distributor of independent films in the Baltics. ACME Film has distributed for Sony Pictures in Lithuania since 2004 and in Estonia from 2011. In 2011 ACME Film began theatrical distribution for Warner Bros. in all three Baltic countries. The company directly licenses films from many significant independent producers and sales companies (eg. Summit Entertainment, Lionsgate, Lakeshore Entertainment, Focus Features) as well as all major Russian distributors. ACME Film distributes its DVDs to all major retail outlets in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The company sells films regularly to all main TV channels and VOD platforms in the Baltics.

European Film Forum SCANORAMA

The festival presents European cinema at its best, with a combination of modern and classical European films, retrospectives, and other events. Scanorama organizes a competition programme for young filmmakers called “New Baltic Cinema” and a workshop called “Go Young Generation” dedicated to training young filmmakers. The festival has long-term aims, with its main objective being to awaken people’s curiosity about new European films along with the roots of European cinema. Through this, a greater interest in European films can be achieved, along with an increased knowledge in the history of film and higher film literacy.

Kaunas International Film Festival

VISOS MŪZOS established the Kaunas International Film Festival in 2007. Kaunas IFF is one of Lithuania’s most 2007. Kaunas IFF is one of Lithuania’s most appreciated film festivals. It is the main film festival in Kaunas, which is the second largest city in the country. Starting in 2010 Kaunas IFF also began releasing films for distribution in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The festival presents films that have been acclaimed worldwide, but also looks for new discoveries. The main priority of the Kaunas IFF is to show films that have both artistic and social statements. The Kaunas IFF is holding its fifth annual festival in Kaunas and Vilnius from September 27 to October 9, 2011.

The film was created as a reaction to the homophobia in Lithuania. Porno Melodrama tells an original story about the dangers of love. SKALVIJA Cinema Center is the oldest cinema in Vilnius, providing viewers with non-commercial films. Along with its regular film program, there are also meetings with film makers, special screenings, retrospective film programs and film premieres. SKALVIJA organizes the international film festivals such as the Vilnius Documentary Film Festival, Young Filmmakers Film Festival Vilnius Film Shorts, and Russian Film Days. The cinema also organizes educational programs for children and young adults. The most important education project is the Skalvija Film Academy, where students between the ages of 14 and18 can study the art of film making. In 2010 SKALVIJA garnered an award from the international non-commercial cinema theater network EUROPA CINEMAS for the best programming.

TREMORA is an independent production company involved in production and distribution of films and relevant and original film projects. The company seeks to realize new concepts in film production and distribution. Vilnius International Film Festival KINO PAVASARIS

Vilnius International Film Festival “Kino pavasaris” is the biggest and most important cinema event in Lithuania. Every year Vilnius IFF presents more than 100 films, which are divided into a number of programs. Lively discussions, widely respected Lithuanian and international filmmakers, events for industry guests, and social and educational projects are all part of the festival. In 2009 the Vilnius IFF for the first time presented the competition programme “New Europe – New Names”. Since 2010 the festival has begun to organize an annual Central and Eastern European International Film Festivals Forum.

KINO KULTAS

Kino kultas was founded in 2007 by a film director Emilis Velyvis. Company‘s staff today also includes producer Asta Liukaityte. The company has produced a pilot episode of TV series „The Head of the Family“ and feature „Zero 2“ (black comedy/action, 2010, dir. Emilis Velyvis), which up to now is the highest grossing Lithuanian movie since 1990. Currently, the company is developing a black comedy titled „Bulletproof Plan“, which tells a story of four Londoners who while fleeing from British mobsters are forced to land in Lithuania and experience all sorts of crazy twists and turns. Production is set for May-June 2011.

RAIN STUDIO was created with the aim of producing cultural and social projects, which includes films, shows, and other events. The company works with audio-visual production, feature and documentary films, TV programs and series, and commercials. Their work is shown on TV, in cinemas, in DVD format and on the internet. Through their work they want to establish cultural contacts and social dialogue between different countries and thus encourage further cooperation.
