Congrats. Milton ■ A hearty welcome to Bro. Milton Tsaktsiras on his initiation into Freemasonry, and the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge, tonight (May 1). Milton has attended a number of ‘Souths’ in past months. We understand he is quite a chef ... and we might get to sample his cuisine at a Lodge meeting in the future.

Forms available ■ A number of members have made enquiries about proposing new members to Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge. There are four forms available: two for the applicant; one for the Proposer; one for the Seconder. Copies of the forms are readily available from the Secretary.

Visit on Tuesday ■ A numkber of Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge members will be making their way to Prahran (36 St Edmonds Rd) on Tuesday May 6 for the installation of Wor. Bro. Rhys Watson as Master of Old Melburnians’ Lodge. Rhys will be installed by Most Wor. Bro. Vaughan Werner, Past Grand Master and the 2010-11 Grand Team, in whichRhys was Grand Std Bearer. Tile at 6.30 pm. Grand Lodge entry: 7.30pm. Supper fee: $20 by donation. Please RSVP to Secretary to assist with catering: richard_burman@bigpond.com

Lodges raise cash: Soldier On effort ■ Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge and Old Scotch Collegians’ Lodge raised more than $200 for the Soldier On collection held at our April joint meeting. The Soldier On campaign started after two soldiers were seriously wounded in Iraq. A $600 donation was raised toward a fund to send a group on a recovery mission to the Kokada Track. Some 22 ex-servicemen, including six very serious traumaticlystressed soldiers will take 16 ‘Young Leaders of the Future’ on the trek. The idea is that the soldiers, while mentoring the boys/girls, will aid their own recovery. Freemasons actually paid the full expense for one man. One of the ex-soldiers is himself a recovering vet who was wounded many times in action. One of the soldiers is wearing the ‘Queen’s Ribbon’, a high decoration after the VC. He is mentoring his very ill ‘mate’. In the USA, 84 ex-Marines have suicided, In Australia, 140 have suicided. It’s a huge problem as there are about 5000 service/ex-servicemen and women in dire trouble.
