Enid on the mend ■ We hear our Sister, Enid Dodemaide, widow of the late Wor. Bro. Bill Dodemaide (Master in 1956), is on the mend after surgery and rehabilitation.
Lived respected, died regretted
Welcome Stephan ■ Wor. Bro. Stephan Michael Alexander Mayer was initiated into Freemasonry in Vienna, Austria. He was Master of our Lodge in 1989-90. We are delighted that he has rejoined his Lodge.
Bill Purcell’s jewel ■ Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge was consecrated on July 2, 1946. Only 3-4 years earlier, the School had been evacuated to the country town of Yea, when The Ridgeway property was taken over by the Australian Women’s Army Service. An Old Ivanhoe Grammarian at Yea, RWor. Bro. Bill Purcell PSGW, helped the School’s Founding Headmaster, Bro. Rev. Sydney Buckley, with the move. Both were Foundation Members of this Lodge. Bill had been a member of Yea’s own ‘Duke of Clarence Lodge’, and a Past Master’s jewel was presented to him on October 4, 1939. The Master of the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge is presented with the jewel upon his installation. It is to be worn in perpetutity. The jewel was donated in 2009 to the Lodge by Bill’s son, Wor.Bro. Howard Purcell PGStdB.
