Freemasons Foundation doubles our donations ■ The new Freemasons Foundation Victoria Limited has been quick to provide a matching grant for The Rev. Peter Holloway Ivanhoe Grammar School Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund. Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge members achieved their target in raising $4000, which will be presented to Deputy Principal Gerard Foley at tonight’s meeting. The Foundation is approving an equal $4000 amount, to take the first annual contribution to $8000. Receipts, for tax purposes, from the IGS Scholarship Fund are scheduled to be issued to donors this month.

● Michael Holloway ■ Janis and Michael Holloway experienced a bad car smash in the Victorian high country in early January. Their 4WD vehicle came of second best as they negotiated a steep road on their annual tour of the area. Both sustained minor injuries.
Centenary dinner
■ The Lodge will be participating in the Ivanhoe Grammar School centenary. Tickets are booked for the Old Ivanhoe Grammarians gala dinner to be held at Buckley Hall on March 21. Attending will be Max and Val Fraser, Ash and Fleur Long, Damian Byrne with Enid Dodemaide.
Cards appreciated ■ The Lodge has received a number of letters of appreciation from our widows after they received Christmas cards with the enclosure of a $30 gift card. We very much value the contribution of the widows to Lodge life. They are always our guests at functions such as the Buckley Night, Winter Barbecue and Christmas Roast Dinner.

Date change
■ The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Lodge have changed the date for the Installation to the last Saturday and an early tyling time. That Lodge has also resolved to meet at the earlier time of 5.30pm from now on.
Extra meeting
■ Revival Lodge has an extra meeting this month (Thurs., Feb. 19) to conduct a third degree ceremony. Revival meets at Greensborough.
Certificate time
■ Bro. Damian Byrne and Bro. Travers Gascoigne are due to receive their Master Msason certificates at the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge meeting to be held on Thursday, March 5.
Hello Philip, Wendy
■ We are pleased to welcome our own Philip and Wendy Du Guesclin to tonight’s meeting. They have travelled from Port Fairy. Philip was initiated into Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge 50 years ago in November (1965).
Robbie Burns
■ The Albert Victor Lodge, which also meets at the Ivalda Temple, is having a Robbie Burns Night on Thursday, February 19. Some years back, our Lodge had Scots night which including the piping of the haggis.

Buckley clan here
■ The founder of Ivanhoe Grammar School, the Rev. Sydney Buckley, was active as a Freemason since 1924. He was Chaplain at the Lodge Consecration in July 1964, and remained in that position for many years prior to his death in 1964. Our Lodge is fortunate to have his daughter, Mary Buckley, with us tonight. Other Buickley clan members include Helen Stuckey, Allan Davey, Caroline Davey and Michael Davey.

■ We pay a special welcome to Anthony Carbines, Member for Ivanhoe in the Legislative Assembly, who has made time in his busy life as a State Parliamentarian, to be with us. ■ Also in attendance is His Worship the Mayor of the City of Banyule, Cr Craig Langdon. A hearty welcome to our local municipality’s leader.

■ Wor. Bro. Wayne Motton, ourf Senior Warden, is embarking on a tour of Vietnam, as part of a fundraising effort for the Epworth Hospital, where he underwent lifesaving surgery several years ago. ■ With us tonight is Gabrielle Forman, Communications Manager of Freemasons Victoria. Gab has recently passed her university studies, and is planning to embark on a Japan trek next summer as part of a fundraiser, also for the Epworth. Let’s get behind Gab’s efforts. ■ Our best wishes to Bob and Betty Breame. Bob is recuperating, and Betty is undergoing a knee operation. ■ Preparations are underway for the March meeting where Lachie and Alex Gould will undertake their second degree. ■ David McGuinness and Bora Akdeniz will undergo their second degree at the April 1 meeting (a Wednesday) being held with Old Scotch at Box Hill.
● Buckley’s Hope is the newly released history of the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge ■ A new 156-page book has been published about the Ivanhoe Grammarians Lodge, and is being launched at tonight’s meeting. The book goes back to the Lodge’s consecration on July 2, 1946, and details the activities of each of the 748 meetings held over 69 years. The book lists the Masonic career of each of the 308 members. There are more than 2000 references in the index. There are 50 illustrations in the book. Copies are available for $20 each. No Lodge funds have been used in the publication. Profits will be donated to Lodge funds.
