29 days to the Olympics

● On Thursday July 26 – Day 69 of the relay – a total of 175 torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame from Camden to Westminster in the final stages of its journey around every London Borough. The Flame will visit the site of the 1908 Olympic Stadium in White City, as well as Trafalgar Square, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace.

■ You will need to have your television turned OFF to avoid the messages that it is only 29 days to the start of the London Olympics on July 26. Channel 9 and Foxtel are hammering the message at every available opportunity. Australian Gold Medal hope Sally Pearson has been named as Nine’s official athlete ambassador. Nine has also announced that it will trial 3D broadcasts during its coverage of 26 sports and 39 disciplines, chasing 300 gold medals. Hosting the coverage from London will be the face of Wide World of Sports, Ken Sutcliffe, along with Karl Stefanovic, Leila McKinnon, Mark Nicholas and Cameron Williams ... and maybe Grant Hackett. Leila McKinnon and Eddie McGuire will host the live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. On competition days, Nine will deliver 14.5 hours of continuous live coverage from 6.30pm until 9am the following morning. Highlights will be shown from 9am to 11am each morning, and later replayed from 4pm-6pm.
