Farewell
Farewell my family and friends.
There will never be enough words to express my love for all of you.
I want to thank all of you for your love.
You made sure that my latter days would be my best ones.
Yes, it was beautiful as long as it lasted.
The journey of my life I have no regrets.
The pain I’ll leave behind, those dear hearts who love and care and the strings pulling at the heart and soul.
The strong arms that held me up when my own strength let me down. I came across good friends throughout my life who stood by me when time raced by. Farewell my friends and loved ones.
I smile and bid you goodbye. Shed no tears for I need them not.
All I need is your smile.
If you feel sad do think of me that’s what I’ll like when you live in the hearts of those you love. Remember then you never die.
Eric Mashon BoundsYourSmile
Though your smile is gone forever,
And your hand we cannot touch
Still we have so many memories
Of the ones we loved so much.
Your memory is our keepsake
With we will never part God has you in his keeping
We have you in our hearts
It is sad to walk the road alone, Instead of side by side.
But to all, there comes a moment
When the ways of life divide.
You gave us years of happiness
Then came sorrow and tears
But you left us beautiful memories
We will treasure through the years.
Your Loving Aunts
I Carry Your Heart
by E. E. CUMMINGSI carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) And it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).
Love, Lakayla
“For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand; I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
II Timothy 4: 6-8Eric Mashon Bounds was born October 15, 1976, to Ida Bounds and the late James Cain in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in Ruleville, Mississippi by his grandparents, the late Rufus and Alma Dye Bounds. Eric confessed a hope in Christ at a young age by joining and getting baptized at New Jerusalem M.B. Church in Ruleville, Mississippi under the leadership of Rev. Charles E. Williams.
Eric graduated from Ruleville Central High School in 1995. Immediately after graduation, he enrolled at Mississippi State University. While at Mississippi State University, Eric pledged Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, where his chapter was the first one at the school. After college, he moved to Jackson, Mississippi. In 2005, Eric relocated to Chicago, Illinois, and began working at Verizon Wireless as a Sales Representative. Eric changed jobs in 2007, which began his 16-year career with United Airlines as a Customer Service Representative. He was promoted to Lead Representative and an active member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, District 141. Eric was a Shop Steward where he advocated for his co-workers.
Eric loved life and he loved to enjoy it with his family and friends. He made numerous friends with his affectionate smile and his telling-it-like-it-is attitude. Eric was a genuine friend, lending advice or a helping hand to all who needed. Traveling and hanging out was at the top of his to-do list. He was a firm believer in living his life to the fullest. He was passionate about his family, his work, his life, and definitely music and sports. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. He never met a stranger or backed down from any discussion, no matter the subject.
Eric gained eternal rest on February 27, 2024, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, James Cain; grandparents, Rufus and Alma Bounds; his uncle, Rufus Bounds, Jr.
Eric’s enthusiasm and energy were contagious. We all benefited from having Eric in our lives. He always strove to do his very best, live his life to the fullest, and appreciate the richness of each new experiences. We mourn his untimely death, but we celebrate the way he lived his life. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother: Ida Bounds, Memphis, Tennessee; five aunts Bobbie Allen, Ruleville, Mississippi; Edith Collins, Eloise Qualls, and Minnie Beverly, all of Chicago, Illinois; Alma Pinckney, Columbia, South Carolina; one uncle, Johnny Bounds, Ruleville, Mississippi; a great aunt Mary Bounds, Clarksdale, Mississippi; four cousins/sisters with whom he was raised, Angenitta Bounds, Columbia, South Carolina, Tera Thomas, Tomeka (Curtis) Johnson, both of Houston, Texas; Grenell Bounds, Ruleville, Mississippi; his cousins: Trevor Collins, Chicago, Illinois; Cory Pinckney, Columbia, South Carolina; Allison (Earl) Burl of Houston, Texas, and a host of family, and friends.

Thank You
The promise of the Holy Spirit to comfort has been the greatest blessings for us during these trying times. Yet, there is no way that we could have made it without the second blessing of comfort, “You”, our friends for all you have contributed, your personal visits, phone calls and text to support, food to nourish, flowers to cheer, other expressions of condolences, and most of all your fervent prayers whispered on our behalf have meant a lot to us. Your thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed and will be cherished in years to come. Special thanks to Dr. Winters and her staff at Northwestern Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
