63rd Annual National Guard Association of Texas Conference March 24-27, 2022 It will be two years since your Association had an in-person conference when we meet next year at the 63rd Annual National Guard Association of Texas (NGAT) Conference in Round Rock, TX from March 24-27, 2022. All conference meetings, breakout sessions, and most optional events will be held on the property of Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. This Kalahari property in Round Rock is one of only four Kalahari Resorts and is also America’s largest indoor waterpark. Conference Registration – Registration will open on November 1, 2021, at www.ngat.org. Check out the meal packages and you’ll see that membership has its privileges. So, become a NGAT member now to take advantage of those membership privileges immediately. A $20 late fee will be added after March 11, 2022, and registrations made after March 18, 2022 can only be made onsite. Room Reservations – Kalahari Resorts & Convention is located 30 minutes from downtown Austin, known as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” The room rate is just $139 and includes four tickets to the water park and with the resort fee waived. We cannot guarantee this room rate for reservations made after February 22, 2022. So please make your room reservations as soon as the hotel room block opens to take advantage of the discounted rate.

Agenda Highlights: • Thursday, March 24 (1700-1930) Defense Symposium/Reception – An invite-only event with Texas Military Department leadership and Corporate Partners. • Friday, March 25 (1300) Exhibit Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Join us as we open the Exhibit Hall with our great Corporate Partners. • Friday, March 25 (1830-2100) Welcome Party – Come enjoy some good food and music at the Event Barn to help us welcome all conference attendees. • Saturday, March 26 (0800-1130) NGAT Annual Meeting and General Session – All conference attendees are invited to the NGAT annual meeting and general session. • Saturday, March 26 (1915-2100) Awards Banquet – Join us as we recognize our members for outstanding achievement. With the last two conferences held virtually, we are excited about the conference next year and can’t wait to see everyone in person. Although we do not know how the environment will be in March 2022 regarding the pandemic, NGAT ensures you that the Association and Kalahari Resorts & Conventions will follow all COVID19 risk guidelines and safety measures of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State of Texas and local area. The safety of our members and all attendees will be of our upmost concern as we move forward in the planning process. NEED MONEY FOR COLLEGE? Apply for an NGATEF Scholarship

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION (NGATEF) announces its annual scholarship competition. Educational grants for attendance at colleges or universities will be awarded to active and life members of the National Guard Association of Texas and/or their spouses, sons, or daughters. The foundation will award multiple educational grants of various amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000. High school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students will be considered for these educational grants. Two scholarships have very specific requirements, so if you meet these requirements, we encourage you to apply for a NGATEF scholarships. Scholarship available for a NGAT member currently serving in the Texas State Guard or a spouse/child of a NGAT member currently serving in the Texas State Guard. Scholarships available to a NGAT Member currently serving in the Texas Army or Air National Guard.

NGAT Holiday Open House Canceled

SANTA’S ELVES AT NGAT have been going over the list of precautions required to host our Annual Holiday Open House and it has been determined that sadly we will need to cancel our 2021 NGAT Holiday Open House normally held in December at the NGAT office. To ensure the safety of our staff and members we feel it is best that we, again, cancel the event this year. The NGAT Board of Directors and staff wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas. H

MG Patrick M . Hamilton Leadership Scholarship

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION is proud to announce that a new scholarship has been established in recognition of MG (Ret) Patrick M. Hamilton, former Commander of the 36th Infantry Division. The scholarship recognizes his leadership and long distinguished service to the State of Texas, the United States Army, and the United States of America. The scholarship will reward current and former members of the Texas Army National Guard or their family member.
