DuBois, who began his law career in Philadelphia, Pa., was recently admitted to the New York State Bar Association after months of preparation. He is also licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania (2008) and New Jersey (2007). Just one week after his admittance, DuBois, who joined the firm of Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone last year, was named a 2012 Orange county Rising Star. The award recognizes individuals between the ages of 21 and 40 who are up-and-coming leaders in their professional and volunteer lives. Twenty-four hours after the announcement, 30-year-old DuBois graduated from the 2012 Leadership Orange program, where participants receive 10 months of training on topics important to Orange County residents and businesses. As part of the final project associated with Leadership Orange, the Class of 2012 created “A Toast to Orange,” a turnkey fundraising event featuring tours of several wineries followed by a dinner at the Brotherhood Winery. The event was designed specifically to be replicated annually for the benefit of both the Leadership Orange program and a different local charity each year. With DuBois acting as project manager, this year’s inaugural event raised roughly $6,000, half of which was donated to the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. And in the midst of all of that, DuBois also founded the Orange County Rowing Association, which will help promote rowing as a sport in Orange County and develop the Newburgh waterfront as a venue for national regattas. “I’m honored to have received the recognition, but the work has only just begun,” DuBois said. “The real accomplishment will be proving that I can follow through and continue to expand my services to this outstanding community.” “Austin has been a very strong member of our team so far,” said Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone’s managing partner, Michael Blustein. “His efforts not only help support our strong reputation for philanthropy in this region, but we’re confident that his community-mindedness could potentially help shape Orange County’s landscape.”
