CHEMFAST TOP AND ELITE FUME CUPBOARDS USING THE LATEST MOLECULAR FILTRATION TECHNOLOGY
ChemFAST Top is designed to meet all the routine safety requirements encountered by both the operator and the environment through the use of chemical reagents. Units are equipped with a manual device to set the inlet air velocity when heavy or volatile chemicals are used and are supplied with fluorescent lighting. ChemFAST Elite is designed with a microprocessor controlled system for a range of data which includes type and code number of the filter being used, installation date, maximum time allowance for filter use and a warning date for its replacement. Built in with five different languages like Italian, English, German, French and Spanish. Audible and visual alarms are also available to protect the operator. These alarms cover out of range minimum and maximum air velocity, filter saturation, prefilter clogging, anemometer failure, gas detector failure and motorfan malfunctioning. ChemFAST Elite is equipped with fluorescent lighting as well as optional vacuum tap and power point.
APPLICATIONS Applications for ChemFAST fume cupboards may be found in many laboratories, including those in clinical diagnostic testing, biological and medical research, analytical chemistry, Q.C., biotechnology, pharmaceutical industries, food, fine chemical, petrochemical, cosmetic, photographic laboratories and electronic industries. ChemFAST recirculating fume hoods are ideal for moderate use of volatile chemicals (larger volumes a ducted fume hood is recommended).

Faster S.r.l. has designed and manufactured ChemFAST Top and Elite ductless fume cupboards using the latest molecular filtration technology. This provides a safe working environment together with fume containment for protection from chemicals, vapours and aerosol in the laboratories. ChemFAST cupboards are available in two different versions: ChemFAST Top series fume cupboards meet all routine requirements. l ChemFAST Elite series units have additional microprocessor control. This ensures that all functional and operational parameters are monitored, facilitating the correct operation of the fume cupboards. l
ChemFAST fume cupboards are used for the containment and removal of toxic vapours and aerosol, providing operator safety in a wide range of disciplines.
ChemFAST cabinets are bench top models with epoxy painted galvanized steel structure for superior chemical resistance; epoxy painted steel base stand is available as option with foot rest bar.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTERS The filters used in the fume cupboards are manufactured from high grade coconut shell charcoal. All types of activated charcoal used in these filters are of amorphous structure obtained from the heat controlled oxidation of coconut shells. The cellulose structure of the coconuts provides the highest adsorption efficiency through a large surface area of up to 1050 m2/gm. FILTER TYPES a) PRE-FILTERS High performance pre-filters are designed to remove particulates from the air stream. The filter material is based on electrets, which are permanently charged di-electrics. They remove particulates from polluted air by strong electrostatic forces generated by the fibres from which they are made. The combination of strong electric charges and open structure provides a filter with high efficiency, low airflow resistance and high loading capacity. Pre-filter efficiency is equal to 75รท85% dust weight arrestance (ASHRAE). b) MAIN FILTERS Eight types of filter media are available. Most of these are impregnated activated carbon, to provide a higher filter capacity for lower molecular weight organic compounds and inorganic gases and vapours. ADDITIONAL ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FILTERS ChemFAST unit may be optionally fitted with additional charcoal filter whenever the application requires for simultaneous use of different kind of solvents which can not be retained by standard charcoal filter.

WORK SURFACE ChemFAST cabinet is supplied with acid resistant PVC work surface with special design to drive the liquids spilt to the corners of the surface. (AISI 304 stainless steel available as option).

BUILT IN SAFETY All electronic components, switches, lighting and motor fan have been selected and installed fully isolated from air contaminated with solvents and therefore meet the most stringent electrical safety requirements.

DESIGN FEATURES Each ChemFAST cupboard contains an IP54 centrifugal motorfan, capable of maintaining a constant airflow by compensating for the clogging of the prefilters, which occurs during normal operation. The ChemFAST Top series is equipped with a manual device for adjusting the air velocity to obtain the appropriate air velocity for each specific contaminant used. The ChemFAST Elite series is equipped with a microprocessor based monitoring system. Each unit has a liquid crystal display to show the face speed and a digital setting system to select the most suitable velocity for each specific contaminant used. (only for Elite model).

FILTRATION A wide range of filters is available, from activated charcoal adsorbing filters to chemical adsorbing filters for specific applications such as the use of formalin, gluteraldehyde or radioactive iodine labelled compounds and for others appli- cations. The ChemFAST 06 unit incorporates a carbon filter which weighs approximately 13-21, 5 Kg, the ChemFAST
OPTIONAL ChemFAST cabinet may be optionally fitted with water tap and drain system. Work surface and all drain connections are made in AISI 304L stainless steel. Water tap can be positioned on the right or on the left hand side. The unit fitted with optional water tap is completed with an epoxy painted base stand mounted on castors with two hinged doors and handles.
Amenities for connection to the water building management system is not provided with the kit.
09 unit incorporates two carbon filters with a total weight of approximately 18-28,8 Kg and the ChemFAST 12 unit incorporates two carbon filters with a total weight of about 26-43 Kg. ChemFAST 15 incorporates three carbon filters with a total weight of about 35-58 Kg. Life time of the carbon filters is proportional to the overall weight of the charcoal fitted inside the filter.
Faster ChemFast series is outfit with the biggest filters available in the market to house a large quantity of carbons thus expanding the filter life time. Each fume cupboard is equipped with disposable type prefilters, with an efficiency of 75%-85% dust weight arrestance (ASHRAE) to protect the main activated charcoal filter.

FlowFAST V Cabinets are â&#x20AC;&#x153;ISO Class 3â&#x20AC;? vertical laminar flow cabinets which represent far more economical and valid alternatives to clean-rooms, as they are capable of providing uncontaminated, particle-free and sterile conditions for materials in the work-space. They guarantee and maintain excellent product protection factors by offering a positive pressure particle-free working area by virtue of the prefilter with a minimum efficiency of 80%-90% ASHRAE - and the H14 HEPA/ULPA filter (air cleanless in Class ISO 3, according to ISO 14644-1) with an efficiency better than 99,995 % MPPS (EN-1822). The FlowFast V vertical laminar airflow cabinets have epoxy powder

stainless steel working surface as standard. Alternatively special models in negative pressure and fully made in AISI 304L stainless steel for superior cleanability are also available on demand.
PRODUCT PROTECTION FROM AIRBORNE CONTAMINATION

OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES The environment air is drawn from the top of the cabinet via a pre-filter and then pulled downwords and filtered by virtue of H14 HEPA/ULPA filter into the working area in vertical laminar air flow pattern. About half of the volume is exhausted outside into the environment and remaining volume is re-circulated by means of slots positioned at the bottom of the back panel.

ANTI BACTERIAL COATING Each FASTER cabinet is coated with exclusive Dupont ™ALESTA ® anti-bacterial “Ag+ cations-based solution”, capable to prevent microbial contamination of surfaces thereby inhibiting long term surface growth. SIDE WALL Transparent side walls in safety glass. Servicing holes are positioned on the right and left side glasses for taps installation (available as an option).
STANDARD FITTINGS One service connection for electrical power available as standard for model FlowFAST V 12 and two electrical sockets for the models FlowFAST V 15 and FlowFAST V 18.
MAINTENANCE Useful snap hinges keep in open position the frontal tempered glass increasing the height of the frontal opening. This solution allows the entrance of devices (such as microscopes) beneath laminar flow.

FlowFAST V LAF Cabinets have been widely adopted in many sectors of industry and in science laboratories for use when handling no-risk cell cultures or non-pathogenic biological specimens when the aim is to provide a high degree of protection factor to the samples and the products on the worktop. These cabinets are recommended for use in applications such a Quality Control in the pharmaceutical and food - beverage industries, Cell culture, Sterile manipulation.

BEYOND MINIMUM SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
SafeFAST Classic Microbiological Safety Cabinets belong to the latest generation of laminar air flow systems manufactured by Faster. SafeFAST Classic cabinets, currently surpass most known â&#x20AC;&#x153;value for moneyâ&#x20AC;? Microbiological Safety Cabinets on the market. SafeFAST Classic vertical laminar flow cabinets are Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinets designed and built to perform requirements of the EN-12469:2000 European Standard, with 70% of the air re-circulated via the main Class H14 HEPA/ULPA filter within the cabinet, whilst the remaining 30% is discharged through an exhaust Class H14 HEPA/ULPA filter. Safety Cabinets with automatic regulation and microprocessor based monitoring systems. These cabinets are suitable for handling micro-organisms and pathogens as defined by the appropriate European and other International Standards, current health and safety guidelines and legislation aimed at safeguarding health and safety of operators at work.

SafeFAST Classic Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinets have been adopted worldwide for product, personnel and environmental protection while handling harmful agents pathogenic to human beings and/or animals as defined in the appropriate International Standards, in a wide range of disciplines in applications such as: Microbiology, Virology, Haematology, Cell culture, Genetics, Handling of hazardous agents to human beings or animals.
REMOVABLE UV STERILIZING LAMP Removable UV sterilizing lamp (optional) that can be easily placed in each area of the back wall. Complete with two switchoff countdown timers, variable on a 0รท3 hours scale (1 minute steps), one with immediate start, one programmable for day, start-up hour and duration.
ELECTRICALLY OPERATED SASH WINDOW The standard height of the work position sash is set to 200 mm. Alternative sash-height setting is available upon request. 490 mm maximum opening.
REMOVABLE WORK SURFACE Work surface in stainless steel AISI 304L consisting of sections which are easily removable for carrying out routine cleaning and/or autoclaving sterilization procedures. As standard supplied with perforated work surface, solid work surface is available on request.
EASY INSTALLATION The safety cabinet can pass through 800 mm wide door openings. In fact, the overall depth of the cabinet can be reduced to approx. 790 mm by removal of the rear panel.
EASY CLEANING / MAINTENANCE Electrically operated safetyglass sash window, which is also hinged and can be opened up during cleaning and routine maintenance.
CABINET ELEMENTS IP 44 electrical socket is fitted as standard in each size model (1 for size 209 and 2 for size 218). Servicing holes are positioned on the side glasses for taps installation (as option).
SILENT OPERATION The bag plenum, the structures of the electric motor of the fan, fitted on its antivibration mounts, and the software itself guarantee quiet operation of this silent safety cabinet, with sound-pressure levels recorded way below the parameters specified in the current EN-12469:2000 European Standard for Microbiological Safety Cabinets.
HIGH LEVEL LIGHTING The safety glass side-windows with the ideal positioning and sizing of the light-system provide the highest level of luminosity to the work area.
ERGONOMIC DESIGN The 7° degrees angled safety-glass, provides optimum visibility of all objects placed in the interior work-space together with higher lightning level. The sash is electrically operated, pressing the appropriate touch-sensitive keys will completely open or completely close down the sash.

SmartFast Vertical Laminar Airflow Cabinet
BEYOND MINIMUM SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
The SmartFAST cabinet is a compact Class ISO 3 vertical laminar flow cabinet which guarantees excellent decontaminated working area and particle-free conditions, especially designed for molecular biology applications. The SmartFAST cabinet is fitted with a H14 HEPA/ULPA filter (air cleanless in Class ISO 3, according to ISO 14644-1) with efficiency better than 99,995% MPPS (EN-1822). SmartFAST cabinet can be easily set to operate in two alternative modes: it can work in “positive pressure“ and under “negative pressure”.
APPLICATIONS
Faster SmartFAST cabinet is “ISO Class 3” vertical laminar flow cabinet which guarantees excellent decontaminated working area and particle-free conditions. The cabinet is suitable to handle nucleic acids used in thermocycling, DNA amplifications, PCR applications, non-pathogenic microbiological and cell cultures applications.
CONSTRUCTION Epoxy cold rolled steel painted with antimicrobial ALESTA® coating. AISI 304L work and back surface with rounded edge corners.
SAFETY WINDOW The frontal glass is hinged and can be folded upwards for cleaning and transfer material purposes.
UTILITIES SmartFAST cabinet is supplied, as standard, with one electrical socket and DEHS test port. SmartFAST cabinet is also supplied as standard with four side holes and caps for optional taps installation.
UV STERILIZING LAMP Optional UV sterilizing lamp with manual on/off switch. UV timer is available installing the “Digital UV Timer and Hour Counter” option. Full programmable UV light including timer and delayed start-up, is available installing the option “Automatic regulator with Digital Display and Anemometer”. KIT BIOHAZARD The cabinet can be optionally outfitted with a special Biohazard Kit which enables the unit to work with pathogens as defined in the appropriate International Standards. The cabinet can be transformed in a real biohazard unit in accordance with the airflow performances required by EN-12469:2000.

SmartFAST KEYBOARD Membrane keyboard with LCD screen and touch sensitive buttons for: main on/off switch, light, electrical outlet, half speed reduction and UV light (if installed). Airflow speed visualization is enabled installing the option â&#x20AC;&#x153;Automatic regulator with Digital Display and Anemometerâ&#x20AC;?.
OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES

POSITIVE PRESSURE The air stream flowing down in laminar airflow pattern from the H14 HEPA/ULPA filter passes through the perforated work surface. An air intake from the top side creates a slight positive pressure in the cabinet, which causes some of the air to be exhausted from the front aperture. NEGATIVE PRESSURE The ambient air is drawn in through the slots of the stainlesssteel base at the front opening and it then passes under the work surface, from where it is drawn up and channeled after filtration through a H14 HEPA/ ULPA filter in laminar air flow condition (about 90%) and exhausted outside (about 10%) from the upper side of the cabinet. BEYOND MINIMUM SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
SmartFAST MINI cabinet is a small work-station suitable for handling products that need to be protected against nonpathogenic airborne contamination. The compact, portable cabinet can be easily moved and positioned on bench tops of a variety of different laboratories. It is suitable for various requirements such as: not pathogenic microbiology and cell cultures manipulation. The SmartFAST MINI cabinet is fitted with a H14 HEPA/ULPA filter (air cleanless in Class ISO 3, according to ISO 14644-1) with an efficiency better than 99,995% MPPS (EN-1822) as well as a synthetic fibre pre-filter with minimum efficiency of 80%-90% ASHRAE.
OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES
The ambient air is drawn in through the pre-filter fitted in the upper side of the cabinet and it then filtered through the HEPA filter into the work-area in laminar air flow conditions. The same volume of air is exhausted outside from the frontal aperture and under the work surface.
