BRO TOOTS, SIS ISABELLA KICK OFF T’NIGHT Teaching Night kicked off the 2nd semester of School Year 2013 with prepared speeches from Bro Toots and Sis Isabella on Thursday 1 August 2013 at the Newman Hall. Bro Toots delivered his inaugural speech project (Basic Speech 1) “I Am”. Hailing from Rarotonga, he said “I am a proud Pasifika and Catholic.” He pointed out though that it wasn’t easy growing up when your mum is a Catholic and your dad is a Presbyterian. He told the audience, “I’m not perfect, but I am seeking it, and that’s a good start.” Other than studying, he works as a volunteer in the Youth Ministry of the Auckland Catholic Diocese. Sis Isabella spoke about the Apostles Creed and how this relates to her life in Basic Speech 2 “I Believe”. “There is more to the Apostles Creed than words,” she declared, “One must feel it here (pointing to her heart).” She shared, “I go to church to search for God, not because it is an obligation.” Bro Mel had two funny anecdotes in Smilines, while Bro Trevor unloaded the burden upon others by giving his opinion about religious instructions in state schools in Brieflynes. Bro Anthony came prepared to quiz participants in BQQ with the team of Nathaniel-IsabellaDaniel winning 14 correct answers out 15. Bro Sam served as evaluator commending the speakers for their speeches and citing areas where they could improve. Bro Nathaniel managed the proceedings effectively as program minister, leading in the singing of “How Great Thou Art” at the start, and concluding with a prayer, a spoken version of “How Great Thou Art.” Classic Nathaniel! As usual, Bro Sam served delicious hot soup (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) with wellroasted bread. While the program officially ended at 7:05 pm, the socials continued until about 8 pm.

Next Teaching Night: Thursday 15 August 2013, 6 pm Newman Hall Assignments: Sis Isabella (program minister); Bro Sam (smilines); Bro Nathaniel (brieflynes); Bro Daniel (bs1); Bro Anthony (bs2); Bro Trevor cst (as3), Bro Toots (bqq) and Sis Laura cst (evaluation). Smilines Irish Wedding During an Irish wedding reception party, one speaker spoke about the importance of the relationship between the husband and wife. To put an emphasis, he yelled, "Would all the married men please stand next to the one person who has made their life worth living." The bartender was almost crushed to death

TEACHING NIGHT: GOOD NEWS. GOOD TIME. GOOD COMPANY.
