UNWTO: Covid-19 could push tourism back to 2013 levels
28-March-2020, BreakingTravelNews (Click here for full article) The World Tourism Organisation has released an updated assessment of the likely impact of the Covid-19 on international tourism. Considering the unparalleled introduction of travel restrictions across the world, the United Nations specialised agency for tourism expects that international tourist arrivals will be down by 20-30 per cent in 2020 when compared with 2019 figures. UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, said: “Tourism is among the hardest hit of all economic sectors.
Global NEWS
“However, tourism is also united in helping to address this immense health emergency – our first and utmost priority – while working together to mitigate the impact of the crisis, particularly on employment, and to support the wider recovery efforts through providing jobs and driving economic welfare worldwide.”

Managing Change
How to manage personalities during times of change
21-Apr-2020, www.insperity.com (Click here for full article) Have you thought about which personality types are represented within your team? And have you ever considered how you would manage these personalities during hard times or rapid changes? Here’s why it’s important. Managing various personalities – those conflicting perspectives and working styles – can be challenging even during the smoothest of times.
Examples of change could include: • Working virtually • Multiple responsibilities or increased workload • New leadership • Rapid information changes • Change in routine

Revise Policies to Facilitate Return to Work 22-Apr-2020, www.shrm.org, (Click here for full article) Before employees start returning to work onsite, employers need to define the new normal by creating or revising policies to address a range of critical workplace issues, including employee relations and benefits. Social distancing may now be a company mandate, for example, rather than a suggestion, while meeting rooms may have capacity limits, and the checking of employees' temperatures when they arrive each day may be required.

Working from Home? 5 Tips to Create a Healthy and Productive Environment
29-Mar-2020, Healthline (Click here for full article) It’s easy to romanticize the concept of working from home,. Yet, there’s a lot more to remote working than meets the eye — especially when it comes to creating a healthy and productive work environment.
1 Create accountability
3 Have a routine
2 Keep moving
4 Be aware of distractions
When it’s just you holding yourself accountable, it’s equally easy to be hard on yourself, especially when you don’t get everything finished on your checklist or your schedule doesn’t go according to plan.
• • •
Schedule alarms to go off at certain points of the day. This reminds you to go out for a walk, even if it’s only a quick 10 minutes around the block. Take advantage of your living space. For example, when you’re due for a break, walk up and down the stairs. Stand while working. Switch up my workspace to the kitchen counter while standing.
Special FEATURE
It’s important to shut off at a specific time each day. Shut your laptop and organize your space in an effort to “close out” until tomorrow. Remember, you need to give yourself time to recharge.
Writing down all of the chores or household items that need to be addressed and prioritizing a few things that will fit into a reasonable window on that day.
5 Schedule time outside of home
Spending so much time in the same place can definitely cause creative blocks and take a toll on your overall health.

Remote Work Trends to Guide High Performance During COVID-19
24-Apr-2020, Gallup (Click here for full article)
1 Communication yields engagement Frequent conversations yield the biggest improvements in engagement.
2 Accountability comes from expectations Remote or not, employees can only be accountable for what's expected of them.
3 Individualize to optimize
Some employees don't need or want that level of attention -- they'll find it intrusive -- but others do. Either way, individualizing to the employee is the heart of great coaching, which is the key to optimizing performance.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS •
COVID-19 has created an opportunity to experiment with remote work
•
Managers need to orient themselves to leading remote teams
•

Brain Teasers Answers: 1 – Relax, glasses, book, author, bookmark, armchair, story, magazine 2 – Eleven. Because Lisa lost three games to Susan, she had lost $3 ($1 per game). So, she had to win back that $3 with three more games, then win another five games to win $5. 3 – Friday. The “day before tomorrow” is today; “the day before two days after” is really one day after. So if “one day after today is Saturday,” then it must be Friday.
