Developing a global set of transparent hospitality standards relating to health, safety and hygiene will be key to regain the trust of travellers in a post Covid-19 landscape, a panel of industry experts explained during the opening day of Arabian Travel Market’s inaugural virtual event, ATM Virtual. ‘The Hotel Landscape in a Post-COVID-19 World’ session discussed the importance of hotel brands providing both hospitality workers and consumers with confidence that their property, and indeed the wider destination, is safe and secure to visit.

“There has never been a global pandemic of this scale in modern times, building confidence will be key as we look ahead to the post-Covid-19 hospitality recovery. “Not only is it important that our workers have confidence that their health and wellbeing is of prime importance, but for consumers too.

7 best practices for supporting employees during COVID-19

1-May-2020, www.hrexecutive.com read more

Getting culture right is crucial at any time—but it’s particularly important in times of crisis. During the hardest times, this quote is especially true—people always remember how you make them feel. In 10 or even 30 years, people will remember the coronavirus pandemic and how their companies made them feel during this unprecedented time. Here are seven things companies can be doing now to boost employee happiness and wellness during the coronavirus pandemic:

1

Empower managers to lead change

2

Implement daily check-in calls

3

Maintain consistent communication

4

Respect employees’ privacy when checking-in

5

Focus on learning and development

6

Be intentional with wellness

7

Give employees ongoing flexibility

'For companies to be agile, feedback must get closer to real-time.‘ Most workers value candid discussions on workplace performance. They want regular and more-transparent performance feedback. But employees don't believe that management has a good grasp of performance assessments and related guidance.

'Feedback needs to be treated as an employee empowerment tool and not as a punitive measure.' The business benefits of that are numerous. "Organizations that offer feedback as a matter of employee success and not as a means to discipline will tend to have a healthier culture, with more productive, happier, efficient employees."

Lead the charge in the rapidly evolving landscape with employee experience, culture and work from home. With the rise of self-serve performance management, and other HR processes, we have become more about pushing buttons and sending email reminders than engaging with colleagues. With the necessity and trend of working from home, we in HR risk becoming even more of a secret society and faceless name behind the corporate curtain.

The Future of Training

The Importance of upskilling and reskilling during Covid-19

There are few stones left unturned when it comes to COVID-19. Everything from “how to make your own hand sanitizer” to timelines of the Coronavirus pandemic have been laid out and made searchable. There’s no way of tip toeing around it: in this present moment for most people, job security is on the decline and unemployment is hiking. An ominous truth that we have had to come to terms with has been that a lot of what happens next to the global economy and job market is out of our control. The best any of us can do is start anticipating what may come, and begin strategically planning our next move. Now is as good a time as any to become familiar with upskilling and reskilling your employees.
