My JOURNEY
Special Feature
Everyone, Meet Maria of Youtravel
Can you share with us a your experience in Youtravel so far? My journey with Youtravel started in 2008, when I joined the company in the Operations team in Athens, Greece. At the end of the season, I joined the Finance team in Accounts Payable department for 4 years. After the acquisition of Youtravel from FTI Group in 2012, I joined the Operations team as Assistant Operations Manager and moved temporarily to Dubai for 6 months to build our Data Entry Team. In January 2014 I was transferred to the Dubai Office and worked with the Data Entry Team in Dubai and Hurghada as Product & Planning Manager. In September 2016, I started working with the Connectivity team. I am currently looking after the Connectivity and Content Team as Head of Connectivity. How would you define your MP-Youtravel experience in one word? And why?
Dynamic.
I have encountered quite a few changes, in management, market conditions, technology; therefore working in a so fast paced work environment has been definitely a unique dynamic experience.
Maria Rabavila
Head of Connectivity, Operations, Youtravel
Considering current market trends, which do you consider the biggest challenges and opportunities for Youtravel in 2020? In terms of challenges, the past months have been quite extraordinary: Bankruptcies and insecurity in the market has definitely had their impact last years , but we do have unique opportunities as well. Having our own in-house supply chain plus our exclusive product gives us an edge in the online market. Also with our ever expanding coverage across the globe that gives up a chance to enter new markets, as well as in new destinations, which these markets require. Can you share the most inspiring employee success story you have experience in Youtravel? That would be the people who we started with the first team in Dubai office. I watched their development and professional growth from data entry, to other parts of the business, such as Commercial, IT, Revenue, and now in Supervisor positions, managing their own teams. It is impressive to me what teams can achieve when they are committed to their personal and professional goals and when we provide them with the right tools and motivation. Warm greetings from Dubai
