Benmore Garden Site Design Project scenario The site located in Benmore Garden, Edinburgh, is a transition zone for people going up and down the mountain. It enjoys very good view yet rather wild. So a small mountaintop park need to be founded to provide people rest, sightseeing and activities, and further their experience.

site The whole mountain of the park remains the original appearance. The site, as a transition area for going up and down, should have provided people to temporary rest. However, the place is desolate with abundant wild weeds, untrimmed small streams and even the stairs in disrepair for years, so it is not convenient for people’s River activities.

The park is open from 10:00am to 18:00pm per day with the rush hour usually from 13:00pm to 16:00pm. The flow of residents is the most on weekends, while the leas on Thursdays and Fridays. The site is located in the higher position of the park. Most of the residents who can reach the site aged from 16 to 45 years old with strong body are more males than females as climbing is a physical exertion.

Northwest wind is blowing from down to top of the mountain which leads more rainfalls in the windward slope. So this site owns more rain.

Stepped planting
Five large regions are divided according to the density of topographic contour line. They are directly arranged into landscaped steps in line with the relatively dense contour lines between the five regions. Connected with stairs, it also gives people a visual experience of different heights.
Heliophytes are planted to the south while umbrosus to the north for the sunlight comes from the south. Besides, the viewing platform and other buildings are mainly facing south for sunlight receiving.
Tree
There are two centennial cypress trees with on-site protection. In addition, three small groups of trees in the site are growing well and remaining in place.
River
There are many small streams on the mountain, five of these flowing through the site. For the four larger streams, the relocation and proper expansion should be carried out. On the other side, the westernmost stream should be landfill for its small water flow and often cutting off.
The Benmore Garden which site is in are famed for redwood forests, so the redwood is extracted as the plane composition of central activity area.

The site lies in the park near the top of the mountain. When people climb to this position, they will have a rest and then go down. However, it is desolate only with plants here. So it is not good for people because it’s incomplete function which can not satisfy their break, also causes some visual fatigue by these plants all around. And the thing we should do is to active people by some interesting streamline.
Plan and Plants
It is divided into five areas by topographic contour lines. The leftmost one is served as a service area with parking lot and toilets as it is close to the road, while the rightmost becomes stepped planting area for displaying the common plants in the park intensively according to its terrain. The part near the planting area is the highest place in this site, which used as entrance. There you can have an overall understanding of this park. In addition, an increasing viewing platforms are set up with different altitude in the entrance area. Cafes provide people a rest and good view, also it is the entrance for the two-story landscape bridge. The largest, main area in the middle is the central recreational region which is partitioned into three different altitude places. These places are connected by architectures or some sinking spaces for catering, shopping, rest, sightseeing and other needs. The small area in the southmost is a climbing place for extreme sports enthusiasts.

Pomona Project Scenario This site, located in the Manchester city, is a typical urban land. Now it is almost abandoned place with various weeds and kinds of birds through the vicissitudes of history. We hope to reconstruct this area bringing vigor to these surrounding blocks, satisfying the needs of residents daily leisure and entertainment, as well as improving the transportation around.

Pomona Island Paking There are a few parking lots in Manchester, and even most of them are commercial ancillary land which needs to pay for parking. Therefore, most people park their cars on the roadside available, which is easy to cause urban traffic congestion. So the site provide a free underground parking lot for sharing the pressure of urban parking.
Traffic The site, located in the downtown with convenient transportation, is only 3-5 minutes' drive away from the city center. due to its location and heavy traffic congestion, the bridge should be constructed across the river, thus it not only ease part of traffic pressure, but also increase the flow and drive the vitality.

Water Rive Irwell passing through Manchester, the site is a riverfront place. This abandoned area becomes a paradise for birds for this river.

This site is the largest green land around with its surrounding place taking scattering street and community greening as the main way. Therefore, the site is positioned as a city park focusing on leisure and entertainment with the commitment to functions and greening.
The site lies in a place with developed traffic and dense traffic network. Moreover, the light rail is nearby, so the road traffic is generally crowded. There is a heavy traffic congestion in the rush hour, especially at 4:00pm.

Exisiting infrastructure The surrounding area of the site is basically urban buildings with various functions, which has typical urban characteristics. The open space of the site is very precious in the city's reinforced concrete.

Traffic The north of the site is mainly central business district and downtown, while the south is residential areas with a large flow nearby. The rush hour both in the morning or evening is facing traffic congestion for the reason that people only can choose a particular road crossing the river because of river liwell. As communications on the both side of the river, the site can be built a underground road and a bridge across the river to ease the traffic pressure to a certain degree making use of the advantages of itself spaces. Meanwhile, a parking lot should be constructed underground, thus some people can park their cars walking to the CBD for its nearest to the downtown.

Enrance The south entrance should be widened with the road dredged and expanded because it was narrow and parts of the roads were blocked not being allowed to pass.
Remains There are not only remains of the pier for it a prosperous industrial pier in history, but also some graffiti painting with unique characters and vitality. It becomes a recreational cruise ship pier on the basis of original pier and provides a wall for keeping on graffiti with the original graffiti elements preserved when it is reconstructed.

After its ruined, the numerous birds are here thanks to the various growing plants, weeds all around, plenty water and fertile grass. At the same time, people would come here for a walk and walking dogs in the morning. So the thing we should do is to preserve partial natural landscape for birds habitats and also rebuild to become an ornamental value.
Wasteland Maintain a natural state, with appropriate plant. transformation, creating a quiet and leisure place.
Industrial Park Dominated by young people, the industrial area is the most dynamic part of the park which is a major activity area gathering catering, sports, sightseeing, equal as a whole part.
Palace&Garden Extending the thought of the original botanical garden in the palace style, it build a glass greenhouse mainly with the lawn for people visits and providing a place for leisure and picnics in the sunshine.
Botanical Garden in Palace Style - Leisure Viewing Area Originating from the botanical garden in palace fashion, the area was reconstructed with this theme. The glass greenhouse with the shape of castle was build to show the image of the botanical of garden as well as provide with an activity place for scientific education and visits. This area is mainly lawn to meet people’s need of rest and enjoying the sunshine. Also the underground buildings and roof lawn are designed. The underground building is primarily used as art gallery and exhibition hall connecting with the underground parking lot and also entering through the overground passage.
Industrial Area - Central Recreation Area Used to be an industrial pier, the site is designed to the central recreation area with this theme to restore the pier and provide people for travelling and amusement. It forms an small business district with main architectural complex involving catering, viewing, shopping and cultural functions. And then the skateboarding area is built for driving the vitality of this site.

This site has many birds due to the ruined with numerous wild weeds along the river bank. When it is rebuild, the retention and rectification of partial wasteland can be done to form a ornamental plant space. It prevents excessive human activities from destroying the nature and preserves their habitats, so the path into the middle part should be without any extension.
The Project for Wenchang Lake Resort Project Illustration On the basis of Wenchang Lake, this comprehensive lakeside resort with beer and skittles can not only provide daily entertainment, but also serve as a best summer resort. You can stay for a few days or a day trip satisfying various needs. So this is the project that perfects the tourism industry of Zibo City driving the economic development.

Land usage This site lies in the surburb of Zhangdian district, surrounding by agricultural land, specially the farmland and economic forests and bungalows in each village. Hence, pleasant environment and fresh air to provide.
Anaylsis Results There are five major urban areas and cities with relatively developed economy, wealthy yet high working pressure people. However, no places for a few days to relax is available in near sites. This is a best chance for our resort to meet people’s demand with decompressing, relaxing in the surrounding cities during the holiday.

The lakeshore of this site differs a lot as the lowest part of more than 20m, where we build a pier while beaches, plank roads above the river and fishing platforms are set on the shallow places.

View orientation analysis The site is on the bank of Wengchang lake, seated facing northwest, seeing the beautiful sunset glow suffusing on the water. It builds on the concave bank of the river with wider view than other places and it enjoys itself with the scenery of mountains surrounded by water and hold a panoramic view of the open water.

The resort adopted a curve plane structure for its mainly leisure purpose and irregularly curve coastline. Circle is a symbol of happiness, reunion in Chinese culture, in line with the definition of this resort, therefore the circle element is selected in building these structures. Church
Project scenario The project being in the residential area in Glasgow affiliates to church on the hill, which becomes a unique bar now nearby. It is now for us to activate the vigour of landscape attracting the crowds, as well as enhance various landscapes to satisfy their daily life and the need of landscape with rebuilding of this site and creating a landscape holding 4-10 per table according to the requirements.

The site in the residential areas includes high-density ordinary housing, upscale housing with lowdensity with public greening as well as a few commercial land.
The site takes the flats with three or four floors as a main architecture form, also owns a few twofloor upscale buildings. Activities are in the morning and evening, especially from evening to mid-night with high-population density. However, it is church on the hill that is the only bar as a communication space.

It is designed as a sinking area for its facing residential areas and low in elevation by variation of height to change the landscape experience. Meanwhile, a high platform with more than 2m high is made so that residents could enjoy the scenery from the lighting area, and even distant view. It also can pass through the platform with free communication. The cinema screen is mounted on the wall. Residents can enjoy the film as well as the wine when night falls.
As the residents here are mainly aged between 16 an 65, meaning few kids and the elder with mobility problem, steps are designed in line with the terrain. These lamp posts are scattered in different places. People with unlike heights could enjoy various landscapes and feelings standing in different positions. What’s more, some lights are set by the entrance to attract the crowd and active entrance when lights are up in the evening.
